Masked Voice
They say
Words speak louder than actions,
But
Why are your actions louder than your words?
You tell me that you love me,
And yet go into her arms.

You and your wordless words - you
give them all to me when you
say you have none within you.
Your mind is a swirling pattern
of that non-existent voice, and
I am the comet, shooting through
your atmoshpere and becoming a
storm of fire, in delight as
words hit me. I don't know
if this will burn me up, but
all I know is that I love the
feeling of being on fire again.
~~ You just don't seem to feel the heat. ~~

Who are you,
that likes my poems?
Who adds them to your collections
                                           shares
                                           likes
                                           comments
who are you,
to react to my emotion?

Would you, too,
like the way that I laugh?
Would you collect memories with me
                     share your hopes and dreams
                     like my smile
comment on the way I dress
would you, too,
react to my stories of what prompted these words?

Who are you, that reads my poetry?
and if we met,
should you think of me, too, as poetry?
could we be friends?

Your paintings out of desperation, flowers
while your humanity reaches eternity's gate
sate with a knowledge and secret as you meditate
on final outcomes and abstract reds with yellows

Blues resound among your garden feathered friends
Jays near Peckers climb for daily victuals wend
and families of squirrel sense a coming winter's wait
whispering to a morning dove of mortal staring fates

This wind now clears green dying leaves that brown
upon the forest floor where footsteps use to own
as millions walked this way at dawn and breaking days
we stroll upon these grounds graced within life's ways

Those beaded pearls embrace your royal skin
and divine nature shows the luster light within
each moments worth is much as in a year
each gloaming hour falls within a twinkling of a tear

let’s be love letters
written to broken hearts
with words of kindness, of grace,
of hope.
let’s be love songs
that play over and over,
that echo in every soul.
let’s be shoulders to lean on,
open wide arms,
open wide hearts.
let’s be lights
that lead each other home.

i let people walk all over me
like the red carpet except
i’m not nearly as beautiful
or highly regarded.

falling down, i put on high
heels with you in mind, to look
more attractive, to appear taller;
i twist my ankle but you don’t
care about how painful it is when
i try to look good for you.

at night, i slip into
a lonely unconsciousness,
while you slip into
another girl’s bed.
