I always wanted this
I had it
For a while I didn't know

We stuck together
Like a magnet
Everywhere we'd go

I notice now
That it's not me
It's not you who wanted to leave
It was her
Who taught you I was poison
How to know what to do
Well I know
I don't need a friend like you.
What is true love?
Is it a spark or a light,
Does it show at first sight?
Does it come from above?

Do you know when it's here,
Does it hit like electricity?
Can you choose who it will be?
Does it always shed a tear?

Can you call it fate,
Or is it an accident?
If it just came and went,
Would it still be great?

If you let it go,
Does it always come back?
If it doesn't stay on track,
Do you still let it show?

If you can't express it,
Is it still there?
If it doesn't care,
Is it really worth it?

Do you throw it away,
When it isn't any good?
Even if you should,
Do you miss it everyday?

When your not sure,
Is it always on your mind?
Even when it's hard to find,
Do you always endure?

Is it always diamonds and pearls?
Do you have to stick it out,
Even without a shred of doubt?
Is it gone with the end of the world?

Is it nicknames, like *** and baby?
To be called a husband or wife,
Is it all you need from life?
Or does it just make you crazy?

Is true love always your best friend?
Even when you're far apart,
Do you feel it in your heart?
Does it always last till the end?
What for you need a pen that writes black?
The man at the counter shot back
What has the blue done to offend you?

Look up the firmament
Over there the kingfisher
Once I had been to the sea
She was blue
Surely you prefer over black
A blue saree for her
So many men have staked their life
For the blue eyes of women

And then as if volleying the winning goal

Why not color all your wishes with blue
To paint the world blue-wish?

As I turned to walk away
My eyes caught the writing on his wall..

Black ink for the black heart
For the fool and the dull
Blue for the man of art
With matter in the skull

I had come to the wrong shop.
I lied there tainted with corruption
You took what little bit of purity I had left with force
A red stamp of fright across my face
An amber alert sent out for your remorse

I was numb with disbelief
My helplessness was your trophy of pride
A tear never shed and a word never screamed
But internally I had wished I would’ve died

Gruesome scenes of aggressive behavior
Dreams of running away
The light was never shed on your disgusting actions
And I gather myself from shattering ‘til this day

Move on from it like a storm over a garden
Put a brave face and let them believe it’s true
I still flinch when someone is lying next to me
You’ve cracked my porcelain but I forgive you
One out every six women in America
Has been ***** or part of an attempted ****
And i constantly wish that the facts weren't true
Because this is just so awful beyond words
I want to take a shower at the thought of this
The fact that this is so prevalent it blows my fuse
It's incredibly difficult to do so
But this is so severe and disgusting that it does it very easily
We must take the steps for an immediate change
Because i don't want the thought to cross my mind ever again.
I hate the word just as much
I hate the act
I hate the common occurrence
How could you do such an atrocious thing?
It's hard containing my anger. I hate to remind people of such a morbid topic but i feel it needs to be said and not enough Men speak up about this i feel.
Hands creep up
Eyes look down
Blouses fall
Nations shout
Sit still, sit still
Through it all
Little girl,
The madness
The media
The justice
The rave
Sit still sit still
Through it all,
The politics
The disgust
The dismissal
The frowns
Sit still sit still
Through it all
little girl
sit still sit still
*Through it all
