I don't want you to be "the sun"
and centre of my universe

I want you to be a constellation of stars

That complete my darkness

Not outshine me

i’m grateful for the nights
i can’t sleep
for the time i get to spend
with the starsβ€”
none of us knowing
why we have to exist
in the dark,
but choosing to shine anyway
4am and counting

I'll write until I surely know
The morning light
Has found You

She writes she writes
Until the night has settled
Confidently in her lap again

I wish i could drown in a pool of the words you said to me so they can fill me up one more time

When I was a child,
I was taught poetry wasn't mild,
It was deep as the sea,
And it seemed truly unachievable for me.
I was taught poetry had to rhyme,
Every single line, every single time.
So poetry seemed out of my reach,
Like chasing a seagull down a beach,
Jumping ever so slightly away,
Or soaring into the sunny day.

So I never thrived for what I thought would,
No, Could
Never be.

I guess now I'm fixing the mistakes of past me.

Sometimes I think about
All of the words
That never escaped my lips

Where are they now?

Are they waiting restlessly to be spoken?
For the sweet release from the darkness of my mind.

Or have they long since decomposed?
To be forgotten, until only whispers remain.

We believe they
are true friends
until that day comes,
when you really need them.
and they won't be there, of course.
