I remember that day
Sunny with a breeze
Yet you stood there standing
In a jacket at the garden
Though
I never got the chance to ask why
Because that’s when you noticed
Me standing there watching
And so you dug into your big jacket pocket
And pulled out some seeds
Oh, but I was so confused at the time
Who are you, garden girl?
But I never asked
I took the seeds, and we started digging
The heat beat down on us
But you just smiled
I used to hate the sun
Until I saw that smile
Once we had our seed buried
We watered it and then
You stood and held out your hand
I can’t help but smile at the memory
Of that garden girl
So nice to the rabbit who’d have ruined
Her garden
Although it was against all odds
Our flower grew so tall
A shining sunflower
Reminds me of someone
After that day
I cant remember being out of that garden
My favorite place
After all, there’s a garden girl there
Keeping me company throughout my days
But recently I can’t help but notice
That sometimes my garden girl cries
She cries over her garden
Soiling flowers as she goes
Flowers don’t need any salt, garden girl!
So I went and I asked
Why she watered her garden with sadness
Yet all she did was smile
And walk on over to our flower
OUR sunflower
I couldn’t believe my eyes
As a single teardrop sang through the air
And kissed one of our beautiful petals
I couldn’t even watch
As our petal shriveled up
And fell to the ground
That’s when I realized
This lush, enchanting garden
Was my garden girl’s graveyard

In my smile
You are my 180 degree
In my eyes
You are the moonlight upon my sea
In my words
You are the beat to my melody
In my heart
You are the quartet of my symphony
In my mind
You are the answer to my mystery
In my life
You are the stars in my galaxy

Up the path, I traveled
On an old, slouching hill
Though the truth had been unknown
To what it would reveal

Time seemed to slither
Through deceit as I wavered
My confusion leaving my mind
tired, and unbidden

One plain stone after another
Surely, all I had seen
Though there really was no telling
As if I‘d tread within a dream

Steps overlapped like the shadows
Left and right, all the same
For where I had been was not one path
But many, individuals erased

The day gave but once
Though countless nights I had surrendered
And whatever my previous purpose
Was forgotten, whispered in the wind

Giant Golden
Petals
Breathing in
The sun

Tall and Sturdy
Stem
Dancing in
The wind

Wide Green
Leaves
Drinking up
The rain

Long Powerful
Roots
Digging through
The Earth

Biggest, Brightest
Sunflower
Giving light to
The world
My roommate, my best friend, my sister- Merry Christmas, and thank you for the light you've given me.

At dusk
My eyelids fell
Leaving me
Curious

In no time
My eyes had to wander
So up went my lids
Shocked

Just a second passed
I took a look around
The stormy wind blew
Distressed

A moment later
I saw the world tilt
I flew onto the deck
Confused

I was a second too late
As the water soaked my lungs
Salty ocean blades
Overwhelming

As hours went by
I flailed amidst the sea
Blue in the face
Terrified

By dawn, I saw
life, within a wreath
Swimming around an island
Relieved

It could have been days
As I trudged to land
Finally, I reached salvation
Desperately

Then time stopped
And my eyes flew back open
Revealing my room
Awoken

Numbing chill
Amongst the gale
Ice cold breath
Trembling still
Heart be lost
Buried in snow
-
Tundras melt
Icebergs weep
Fingerlike rays
Warm on skin
Breath of life
Thaws a heart
Found by a beacon
