I give you my heart,
When it beats, you'll feel the pulses of our love
When it bleeds, you'll make it strong again
When it finally stops beating, you'll be there to say goodbye

You comfort me when we're together
It is silent when you are not around
You are the atmosphere
You live in the background
Without you the day is empty
With you life feels so profound
You do not exist
You are but a sound
I am the poetry that breathes words into your mind.
I fill up blank spaces with encouraging lines.
I possess no magic powers to turn back time.

I am the poetry that brings back childhood fears.
I speak the truths you're not sure you wanna hear.
I clarify emotions that were previously unclear.

I am the poetry that digs deep to tear at the soul.
Once I enter you, you can never be whole.
Without the words inside you, you feel so cold.

I am the poetry that tries to hold back time.
Keep the body frozen but activate the mind.
Using line after line to make you all mine.

I am the poetry that flows through your veins.
That proves how much I love you, day after day.
I help keep your sanity, when you think you're going insane.

I am the poetry that floats in front of your eyes.
Always surrounding you, seeing through your every disguise.
I know everything you think, I know all your lies.

I am the poetry until the day you die.
Tempestuous pestilence of manic depressive tendencies invested in a message cocked and loaded as a centerpiece

           Unfold it, if you will,

The beast lives in these pages
While the people all went home to their own separate cages
Locks become phones that never ring
No bars but still encasing, these cells are in our genes

Its a prison of DNA strands unlocked with a paper key*
Held firm by *words written within
the world awaits to see
You aren't what you are born into. You can sculpt yourself to become whatever you want and achieve artistic freedom.

You.

bones
You are the smell in the air after a heavy downpour of rain,
The light seeping through my curtains at the crack of dawn.

You are the heavy taste of wine on a night out,
The aroma of lavender coming from one of my favourite flower shops.

You are the curves of the highlands and in the citrus taste of the sea,
The sound of waves crashing against the shore.

But then again,
I see you in the electricity of thunder,
The bitterness in coffee,
The ending of a good book,
The last note of my favourite song,

I see you in the last colours of the evening sky,
The calm before the storm.

You are every hour I'm spending watching the sun's final rays.
You are everywhere and I can't wrap my head around that.

A flower picked
may be short-lived,
but its birth
and death
was meant
to celebrate
this event,
of having courage
to love again.
