woes aplenty beset
the once great land
via the administration's
irresponsive hand

the people didn't realize
what they'd voted for
as day after day more troubles
accumulated at their door

was left a mighty
huge mess
which caused an insurmountable
amount of stress

the leader of the land
being bereft of the prerequiste skill
that would have prevented
the downfall's spill
the woes
the woes
of the poets did
compound
for there were many woes
around

the woes they couldn't
surmount
woes that stayed on the estate's
mount

poets tormented by woes
day and night
and there was no respite
for their plight

the woes were never
ending
the woes not ever
suspending

the woes such as
plagiarists
taking works in pilfering
fists

so too the trolls on
patrol
on them no firm
control

woes
woes
woes
besetting
the
poetry
community
woes
woes
woes
permitted
to
act
with
licensed
impunity
woes
woes
woes
of
them
not
much

women all over the world
have striven in solidarity*
for better pay and conditions
at our work places

women all over the world
being the driving engines
as scientists, doctors, teachers, etc
bringing their professional skills
to our communities

women all over the world
showing creativity in the fields
of literature, painting and design
their flair can be seen
in our cultural paradigms

women all over the world
your aunty
your sister
your friend
who are talented ladies
in whatever they turn
their hands to

woman all over the world
bearing the next generation of children
ensuring their endowments
*continue on this our planet
NB: A homage to all women, on International Women's Day.
I'm expecting a telephone call
within the next few days
and the person on the other end
shall tell me I've had a humongous pay

the other afternoon I took a lottery ticket
which will hopefully mean
that for the rest of my days
I'll be on a good wicket

I'm sure the numbers
I've so studiously selected
are marked
she'll be in for a collect

I'm sitting by the phone
ready to smile
once the lottery official
tells me I've won a pile
their hearts beat as one, sweet the bell of joy
ever happy doth it play, sweet the bell of joy

aligned so perfectly, affection ringing true
a delight most gay, hark volumes of joy

a bright blissfulness, dwells within the two
harmonic is their array, of such felicitous joy

ever they'll be elated, in utter glorious glee
a most treasured day, heralding with much joy

in sync bells bespeak, mirthful is their song
telling of love's way, so wonderful the joy
their hearts chimed as one, sweet the bell of joy
ever happy doth it play, sweet the bell of joy

aligned so perfectly, affection ringing ever true
a delight most gay, hark volumes of joy

brightness of blissfulness, dwells within the pair
harmonic the choirs array, of such felicitous joy

ever they'll be elated, in utter glorious glee
a most treasured day, cascading with much joy

in sync bells ring, merry is their song
telling of love's way, so wonderful the joy
in the dawning days
of the Earth
an ancient poet conjured
a verse from a magical *** of words
through the ages
generations of poets
have gone to this magical ***
to draw from its
well spring of words
which
are replete in golden
ingots
some words are winners
some are not
it's a matter of choosing
what words to slot*

but with so many words
there to opt for
the mind has a conundrum
at its door

an example I'll now write
with those words that win
and writers aren't fussed
on placing them in the bin

these words win
more often than not
as they 're always included
by the author's mot

LOVE
HOPE
and
INSPIRATION
have winner written on them
so pen-men and women
tend to employ
*one or all of them
the puppet man
the puppet man

he makes good use of the

them dolls answering to his

how well he handles the
strings

the puppet man

oh yeah he's got a tight
*****
influencing what the dolls do on his
pew
all of them dancing along in
review
ever he'll call with the strong

the puppet man
the puppet man

manipulating the dolls every which
way
he has them co-opted by his
sway
coercive the show's tugging

so he'll obtain his own
way

the work supervisor
turned up at my work place
and I would have preferred
he wasn't in my face

all he did was nit pick
about minor details
and in doing so
he took the wind out of my sails

he's always full of complaints
and never any compliments
he was very harsh
with his work site assessment

over the years I've done my best
to keep the site looking swell
but when the work supervisor turns up
I feel like telling him to go to hell

I can't wait until
my last pay day at the place
then I'll be wearing
a big smile on my face

the work supervisor
I'll be happy to bid farewell
and from hard yakka
I can take a well earned spell
due to a lack of talent
in the writing sphere
a plagiarist will see fit
to pinch other poet's gear

brilliance not present
on the nib of the pen
hence a copyist will purloin
every now and then

a rich source of poetry
is tapped into online
as if robbing the golden nuggets
from a Colorado mine

their coda reads like
this let's nick a stanza
stowing the best *****
for a thieving bonanza

without any conscience
the reproducer does steal
making much of other's works
which are so ideal
itellectual property
is a valuable commodity

which is why
unscrupulous

steal
this
kind of property
so they can
enrich themselves
plentifully

they who create it
must ensure
they've got a legal

which shows that it

if we look after our respective
sets of gnashers
we won't need those ill fitting

due to the global pandemic of 2020
world theatres were shut
down
and no dramatic or melodramatic
productions went on show in many a
town

actors and behind the scenes workers
had been left
unemployed
as restrictions on close quarter gatherings
were summarily
employed

theatre audiences in 2021 are needed
to fill the empty
seats
so that all companies are able to recover
from the imposed
retreats

the virus financially affected the world's
stages last
year
and this year we can buy a ticket to support
the dramatic art's

our earth
would badly thirst
our earth
would go terribly dry
our earth
would not sustain
our earth
would be in demise

ruin not the river nor the stream
with a pollutant bug
as it will contaminate our
water's pristine jug

humanity's survival depends
on this essential liquid
and man must take care
of its vital fluid
to-day I sat in a slim line chair
in which I was made aware
of the size of my posterior's pear

it drooped over the sides of the seat
and it didn't look orderly or neat

a not so subtle message
my buns have relayed to me
they've said that they are
a little too hefty

I'm making a belated
New Years resolution
which is to seek an answer
to my tails expansive evolution

being unable to place
my posterior in a chair
is truly a most
wretched affair
A fun write...
there is a new building
on the east side
that has a length
twenty two miles wide

a co-operative of authors
hang out there
every day they ply
their multitude of wares

the building was established
to foster the quill
to-day there was sixty
working at a window sill

Mr George Thomas has named
this place for scribing
Writers Block the house of penmen
who like word imbibing
an international writer's strike
was called to-day
for this fraternity
are seeking a little more pay

their working conditions
are truly bad
so they've gone
and done something rad

their placards
you'll see on avenues
they'll be saying
we're bereft of revenue

a terrible shock
to the world this is
all the writers
taking leave of their biz

reporters won't be
reporting a jolly thing
scholars shall of articles
be withdrawing

poets ceasing to scribe
lines of verse
as they've not enough dosh
to fill the purse

industrial action
needed to be pursued
writers can't abide
being *******

the federation
of quill employees
only want a small increase
in writing fees

it is hoped that some
resolution can be found
as the public require words
to be spread around

the dispute's negotiations
are at a vital stage
may we soon see
a paragraph on the page
On to make my fellow poets smile...
it's been a tough day
in the writing office to-day
not many imaginative ideas
journeyed my way

the dullness of my quill
hath failed to capture a thing
seemingly for to-day
there will be no poetry offering

when the time is right
a poem will be written
but at this point of time
my quill isn't with a verse smitten

one awaits the muse's return
with much expectation
then one will feel less
in a state of deflation
this and that are words
he doesn't much like
yet they'll always be given
a **** on my bike

these and those do irk
him when they're seen
though I favor them
in my viewing screen

this and that
these and those
really get up his nose
but I just love them
being part of my writing pat
X
X
X marks the spot where
the treasure can be
found
but can we rely on the
marker's X being
sound

do any of you remember
that childhood treasure hunt in the
backyard
yet finding what you were
seeking was buried elsewhere in the
yard

oft the letter X is deceptive
of placement
which leads to a fortune's
estrangement

an imprecise marking
on the map
means no gold or silver
landing in the lap
Yes the tinge stood out
Eyes saw its clear tout
Light cast on the flout
Leaving one in no doubt
Oh the moment of knowing
Well this hue kept showing

Clueless one used to be
Overt is the color of he
All ken I now understand
Truth is well in thy hand
you cannot be serious man
in what you say
that is what the brat
was heard to say

on the court he'd remonstrate
about the call
he objected to the linesman's
placement of the ball

you cannot be serious man
in what you say
that is what the brat
was heard to say

in tennis circles he had
a no good reputation
for engaging in
all manner of disputation

you cannot be serious man
in what you say
that was what the brat
was heard to say

unsporting behaviour
he'd frequently show
other competitors didn't much
like the tenor of his bow

you cannot be serious man
in what you say
that is what the brat
was heard to say

another of his ilk presently
applies the same guttersnipe stuff
he's a right royal smarty-pants
with his racquet's guff

you cannot be serious man
in what you say
that is what the brat
was heard to say
John McEnroe and Nick Kyrigos.
you hold he key
to open my heart's gate
you hold the key
so wonderful of state

darling no other but
you can enter this place
for it is reserved
as your loving space

on turning the lock
an adoring did ensue
there my deepest feelings
were lasting in hue

you hold the key
to open my heart's gate
you hold the key
so wonderful of state

a nectar dream
we'll ever possess
the stream so divine
flowing through my egress

the treasure vault
yours and mine
a devotional niche
paved with sunshine

you hold the key
to open my heart's gate
you hold the key
so wonderful of state
what joy he'll bring
that red suited man

presents of much glee
dolls and train sets

happy girls and boys
unwrapping gifts
it's Yuletide Season
Santa was a scrooge with presents last year
He only put a walnut in my Christmas bag of cheer
A letter of disappointment I sent to him
Asking him why on my presents did he skim

He never got back to me with a reply
I have discovered that Santa is a very stingy guy
Apparently he couldn't afford a postage stamp
To put on a letter addressed to my camp

A little peeved I am with Santa this year
He'll be spending few pennies on my Christmas cheer
I have given up on sending request to him
As he so likes making my Yule Tide Season so grim
her vault of treasures
for him to explore
her delicate petals opened
as a welcoming door

he immersed himself
in her divine tunnel
it engender excitement
in his burgeoning funnel

in synchronization
they moved to a fevered beat
their bodies were fused
with a scorching heat

to a crescendo of moans
an ecstatic moment did spring
they gave their all
in *******'s zing
she had a vault of treasure
for him to explore
he delicate petals opened
as a welcoming door

he immersed himself
in her luscious tunnel
it engender excitement
in his burgeoning funnel

synchronizing together
they moved to a fervent beat
their bodies were fused
with a scorching heat

to a crescendo of moans
an ecstatic moment did spring
when they gave everything
in *******'s zing
