If our souls met long before we did,
then they must have known
that we would fall apart
before we did.

B.K.
It just doesn't add up.
My name is Taylor and I have a tooth that tucks behind one of my front teeth.

I say this as my first sentence because when I look at myself in the mirror and smile, that is the first thing I notice.

But a compliment I've heard more times than once, "You have a beautiful smile."

I  wonder how many things in life are like that...

Qualities or characteristics that people agonize over are the very things that others appreciate and admire.
“I dont know”
was my response
when you asked me if
I still love you

the world stopped
for the both of us
as I wondered on the thought
of me, being selfish
or being true
and yours upon the
realization that
maybe, just maybe
my love for you
is fleeting

neither of us was speaking
and the silence echoed
through the depths of my head
and you uttered
‘oh’

that moment, I knew
that you gave up
on me, and my inner
indecisiveness

I crumbled upon
the guilt of telling you
those words, so instead
I let my tongue do
the talking and said
'maybe'

cause it was never hard to say

but it is always hard to face

the reality of being responsible
to someone

as if I have to breathe
through somebody’s pair of lungs
and scratch the loneliness
with someone else’s fingers

we parted
I changed numbers

cause I had to stay afloat
on the clouds of solitude
free from attachments.
Twenty years later
but I still remember
that horrid smell
your smell

Twenty years later
and I still haven’t
told my story to anyone
willing to listen

Twenty years later
and I still hate you
and pray you aren’t
hurting someone else

Twenty years later
but I still remember
your smirk
and your wicked smile

Twenty years later
but it feels like today
you broke me
and left me scarred for life

Tell me
What was the worst
Part
When I left
And you wanted me
To stay
Or
When I stayed
But you wanted me
To leave
It wasn't explained
And you were left
Thinking it was all your fault
Or that you didn't measure up
To her expectation.

So you stand there amazed, aghast, alone.
As the trauma hits you slowly.
You wanted to cry, or to shout, or to do both.
Yet you remain still...
Trying to comprehend
The reality you are now forced into.
As tears gently kiss your cheeks
Down to your shrivelled lips
Mumbling sounds
Trembling chest of unbelief
As your heart wants to break out of his cage
And try to run into her arms
As she slips away

It was too much

So you end up making
Your own sense of this nonsense
And try to rationalize the gravity of this predicament.

I don't know what hurts more

Watching you walk away

Knowing that you can

Or knowing that you should

finally deciding
to deal with the
aftermath
of what you
left behind
has been the
single most
difficult
and
rewarding
thing i've done
