i touched your soul
and scribbled my name on it
love, you’ll never get lost again

Have you ever felt like you don’t matter,
Everything you do amounts to nothing.
You just get ignored and don’t know why,
Constantly wondering what your doing wrong,
What you could have done better.

I didn't believe you existed in the first place
But when you did
I had the crippling fear that you would not want me
To me, beauty and happiness were always incomplete
I didn't believe that salt water could damage paper
But when it did
It was though my eyes were true to life
Speaking words of sorrow yearning for you

No chance to sit and write poems
the day soldiers on
a million little nothings
occupy my time
if it's not the bills it's the dishes
a prayer on my knees
to the ***** floor
what god is this who rests
in the ruins?

I juggle, no, not a metaphor
I juggle 3 rubber *****
red, blue, yellow, primary colors
focus my mind
one can't juggle with a head full of detritus
I'm a joke, a clown
the tear painted under my eye
a mockery of myself
drop the ***** and start singing
I'm an angel
my voice a jewel
cutting through the emptiness

my home
is not
the room
where i sleep
fitfully.
or the house,
broken memories
and walls
the color
of
****.

my home
is the
off-key
singing
with my sister
in her car.
the buttered popcorn
from the movie theater
that we ate together,
her and my brother and i.
the spring air
as we ran with her dog.
the monotone
of teachers droning on,
the bright laughter
of my friends.

home is made
of the little
bits of joy
that
we’ve left
scattered
behind
us.

I think
as artists
we owe a lot to pain.

Put on
a robe of thorns
and write

about the nice weather outside
and that delicious burger
you had today.

Write about happiness
when you're in pain-
beauty.

A technological evolution
iPhone stapled to ear
The fear
Of missing out
On our social revolution.

A constant silent disco in our heads
Makes us buzz from work to bed.
Notified about everything
In control of none
An illusion that has replaced our tongue.

The new-age religion;
A martyr to the pixelated face
Of Illustrated connections.
