"occasioned" poems
Vivifying my darkness
I embraced the touch of truth
falling on this occasioned selflove

A rose of glassblowing transparency...
air-born as the color eyes see
when closed to the sun.
Petals pressed open shatter in place...
as red silk intermingled.
The color of passion and alarm,
that an earth transpires--rose...
occasioned by that transpiration.
Put to amnesiac white wings--
aftershocks of contrast...as blood to
snow, and all its angels.

*The dullest of backgrounds
In the unimaginative shape of cheap and cheapened unpainted wallpaper
Gives even this, the palest of pale faces, a colour
Unfortunately, a blue and purple vein occasioned twinge,
Does little to flatter smooth foreheads and tight jaws
Fortunately, boundless space and air thick with smothered apprehension
Give plentiful reflection potential for the last lazed rays that have wandered,
waning, through a harsh window open to drain the space more than fill it
Until, upon finding wet blue upon dry white
A frivolous rainbow flickers in the classic tear
On the perfect cheek between this smooth forehead and tightish jaw
Below the eye, one tiny, flickering, frivolous rainbow
For no one to see*

The wind chilled the dead pigeons
the chimney had long been dormant,
if they had lain elsewhere
their beaks would carried the seeds of change,
yet the graded storeys were never condemned
as long as the Portland stone cladding
was not too evasive,
growls from under the porridge table
by the occasioned Ginger
spared these absurd notions

Once again here I am,
Lost in the silence occasioned
By you and your choosing,
Not mine,
But in part through me
And my inability to calm
Us when we row,
Here I am alone in
That most dreadful of ways,
Outside the light of your love,
Outside the warmth of
Our embrace - that hug which
Means so very much
To this tortured heart,
Here I am,
Alone with my thoughts,
Alone in the cold and the darkness
Bleakly aware of your absence,
The lack of you is a visceral aching pain
That tears and coils inside me
As I pen this verse,
And we are close now
To that joy we both desire,
Because we have both been
Heard at last my love,
And the hearing has made a difference
That dispelled the need for you
To fight or me fight back,
And that cease is vital
To both of us because
For my part at least,
And I hope yours too,
I love what we have when
It works,
Im not ready to say goodbye.

Arbitrarily flung to instants of moment
Scattered free in the gleam of the eye,
Cast with abandon to scattergun’s chances
The wondrous pearls, I’ve occasioned to fly.
Together with detritus maudlin to moribund,
Together robustness’s wrongness in rouge,
This crimson lusting with anger’s green jealousy
In scattered intemperance now fawning to rude.
Spindrifts of coarse-ness in calico fabric
Flooding of richness and redness in heat,
Shadings of blue in palaegic intemperance
Now flung to eruptions of laughter complete.

*it was a bitter day, early morning
and he'd just come out of moaning
the day after the weepy mourning
occasioned by a rather soft dismissal
of his peculiarly bad circumstances
leading to that unexpected acquittal
in the courts of street common sense
where they said he was not aggrieved
that he was too well-groomed to qualify
for the title of most distinguished destitute
and that he'd never been guilty of being adrift
and the bitter tears welled in his smarting eyes
he rather liked the elevated status of depraved excellency*

Have you changed ?
did you follow the summer ?
until the storm got in your way !
Have you occasioned the calling ?
did you shape the world through your telescope ?
Was the universe caring ?
did you wait for the fall ?
when it returned
not caring enough
Did you ever capture your tears
from the falling rain ?
Was grace tantamount
when you sighed at the World ?

The world is filled colors.
gaze at colors through a monochrome life
And be blind towards the blurs of gray
Glance at a world brimming with rainbows
Notice the decadence of a world with life, of a world joyously filled with occasioned feelings
Feel the passions and rages of red
The tingling burn of a passing orange
The gracefulness of a joy-filled yellow
Create a soothing deepness through a tempered viridan
Allow the sorrows of a mellow azure
To flow into an embracing indego
And end with a royally charming violet
Create monumentious beings of color
To make sure that the world is never something so simple as black and white

the sky cannot follow what
it has occasioned, so i bide my
clarity through snow.
the ground becoming a vast
return, indistinguishably white
from the sky.
now and again--there's nowhere
for a moment to go.

Temder promises just wait.
The evergreens will bring a walk
and your head will be turned
with the occasioned ushering.
Why see this as false confidence
I only wanted to cast your doubts
and harden your heels
for the passing stroll

Am I not more
the cause of my own suffering
than that occasioned by
others or any other human being?
