How brave are our fire brigades?
As they battle bushfires each day,
Yes, it's summer in Victoria,
Not exactly the Waldorf Astoria,
For all the fire brigades,
Our respect they've totally gained,
Laying their lives on the line,
When the weather's too hot and fine,
Burn, Victoria, burn,
El Nino's torrid urn,
Our noble defenders each day,
Real heroes in the news, I say,
As they battle bushfires today,
How brave are the fire brigades?
Feedback welcome.

So, a usual Melbourne summer,
We chat to anyone about the weather,
Very safe subject in Melbourne town,
Raining, then bushfires to cause a frown,
It's either stinking hot, then freezing cold,
Droughts and mists, or scorchers of old,
Four seasons in one day, to ring the changes,
Tomorrow, there'll be bushfires in the ranges,
But today, it's cold and rain,
Good drinking water down the drain,
Yes, a  usual Melbourne summer,
I even wrote a verse  about the weather......
Feedback welcome.

National disasters,
Plebs' hollow laughter,
Floods and bushfires,
Natural land afire,
The state of the economy,
A national disaster for you and me,
Still, some people have jobs,
With hiring you should hobnob,
Plebs' hollow laughter,
Our national disasters,
Too funny not,
Whose hiring for jobs?
Feedback welcome.

Water is a transparent fluid from which the world streams, lakes, oceans, and rain and is the major constituent of the fluids of living things
Water gives our lungs the moisture we need to breathe.
Water, therefore, is breath to life.
You cannot have too much of it.
Drinking too much water too quickly can lead to water intoxication water intoxication occurs when water dilutes the sodium level in the bloodstream and causes and an imbalance of water in the brain.
Although, you need it to survive.
People can survive no longer than 8 to 10 days without water
When our cells are starved for water, they become parched, dry and more vulnerable to attack by viruses.
Water is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and kills uncounted thousands of people every year.
Water constitutes, regulates, flows through, cleanses and helps nourish every single part of your body. But the wrong kind of water -- with inorganic minerals, chemicals and other contaminants -- can pollute, clog up and turn to stone in every part of your body.
3.4 million people die each year from water related disease
That is equivalent to almost the entire city of Los Angeles.
I think water is all around us in metaphoric ways
For instance, water damage to a cell phone, computer, a book, or an entire city.
Water creeps into places where it is not supposed to be, where it is not meant to be and destroys things.
Suddenly, your screen goes white, words are smudged, people's belongings and treasures are ruined.
Water breaks things.
Water is a lot like pain.
It creeps into our life like a serpent in tall grass and fractures things that were once in perfect condition.
But the miraculous thing about it, although it is a demon, we need it to live.
Without pain we would not know pure joy.
How can you appreciate stepping to the sunlight if you have never experienced the shade.
Water is a lot like people.
70% is a person is water.
31% of our bones are made up of water.
Only 1% of the world's water is drinkable.
Some contain toxins that can be fatal to the human body.
Not every person may be able to quench your thirst.
When they leave they many leave you dehydrated and dizzy.
Not every person is drinkable.
Some people carry demons that they will introduce you to and you cannot rip them off.
These demons are not in relativity to the band-aids in your childhood.
People can cause damage like no other.
Some say that loneliness is killer.
Isn’t funny to think that the one thing you need most can leave you with more scars than you had in the first place.
Water is a lot like love.
Something we crave when the exhaustion from all of our day's work gets too heavy.
Without love we feel empty
When the body gets dehydrated it has already lost over 1% of its water
When we thirst for attention it's as if we lose an inch of security
Love is unlocking the door and flooding
Love causes destruction
But love is at the absolute brink of all things desired
Love is different temperatures
Love can boil, love can freeze, love can be just right
Love can be the one thing at the end of the day that refreshes the mind
Water is used frequently by firefighters to extinguish fires helicopters sometimes drop large amounts of water on wildfires or bushfires to stop the fire from spreading and limit the damage that it can cause
Love is the antidote to pain and the virus itself
Love is limiting damage
Love can calm the wildest fire set in someone's soul using only words
Water is such a generic liquid
Water is the only thing that hold each of us together
So when you reach the end of your journey
Remember water and all of its different forms
Remember the invigorating taste
Remember the abuse
Remember the revival
Remember it all
Because it is all there
**We simply do not look close enough
YOU SEE DAD AND STAN BURNS AND STAN NIEMIC DESPITE WHAT THEY BELIEVED IN ON EARTH

FIXED A SATLLITE PLACED BY NASA, WHERE THE WA FIRES WERE PLAIN TO SEE FROM UP THERE

YOU SEE, DAD GOT HELP FROM SCIENTISTS AND PEOPLE INTERESTED IN BUILDING THE WORLD

AND I START TO FIGURE, IF WE CAN SEE THE FIRE FROM UP THERE, WHY CAN’T THE ALIEN FORCES

FORM A REALLY HEAVY RAINSTORM TO ERUPT IN WA, TO PUT THE FIRE OUT, MIND YOU

DAD, WAS HAVING A FIELD DAY, WITH THIS TELESCOPIC LENS, MAKING IT EASY FOR SCIENTISTS

TO TRACK DOWN WHEN EARTH IS IS UNDER ATTACK FROM RAGING FLOODS OR BUSHFIRES

AND, IF MORE SCIENTISTS AND ASTRONAUGHTS HAD MY BELIEF, THEY WOULD WORK WITH MY DAD

AND FORCE A BIG RAINSTORM, TO PUT OUT FIRES EVERYWHERE, YOU SEE DAD MIGHT BE DEAD

BUT HIS SPIRIT, CAN SLOWLY SAVE THE EARTH AND THE UNVERSE, EVERY BLADE OF GRASS

AND SCIENTISTS HAVE SILLY INVENTIONS SOMETIMES, BUT, MY DAD IS IMPLYING, THAT, THERE

MAYBE A WAY TO FORCE RAIN, FROMM UP ABOVE, I THINK MAYBE THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE TRYING TO DO

AND DAD AND THE TWO STAN’S DECIDED TO SEE, MMMMMM HOW ARE WE GOING TO GET RID OF THESE FIRES

YOU SEE, THERE IS WATER UP IN OUTER SPACE, WE JUST NEED TO FIND IT, DAD IS TELLING ME, TO TELL YOU

NOW, YEAH, I KNOW THERE IS WATER UP THERE, BECAUSE CLOUDS ARE FORMING LIKE A DISH IN THE SOLAR SYSTEM

AND IF WE CAN FIND OUT WHERE THIS WATER IS, IT COULD PUT THE FIRE OUT, BUT, WE NEED TO CONTROL IT

CAUSE IT COULD CAUSE FLOODS, SO JUST ENOUGH WATER TO DROWN THE FIRE, YOU SEE DADS MAN, WAS HE WAS INTERESTED IN

HELPING THE ENVIRONMENT, WE THREW HIS ASHES IN COPPINS CROSSING AND I RECYCLED HIS ASHES TIN

SO DAD CAN HELP IN THE FUTURE, AND, DAD HAS STARTED, WITH ALLOWING NASA, TO BE ABLE TO VIEW

FIRES FROM WHERE HE IS, AND I AM SURE DAD WILL BE GLAD TO HELP BRING RAIN TO THE APPROPIATE PLACES THAT NEEDS RAIN

EVEN IF IT MAKES LUCKY CRANKY, BECAUSE LUCKY BLAMED DAD FOR THE RAIN, AND NOW HE’S DEAD, DAD CAN

WORK ON CREATING RAIN ONLY IN PLACES THAT NEED IT, WHILEST LIKE EVERYONE HAS EARTH BODIES TO LOOK AFTER

NOW I AM INTRIGUED, IN HOW DAD CAN RALLY PEOPLE TOGETHER, TO BEAT THESE TERRORISTS, WHO THREATEN THE LIVES

OF PAUL BERENYI AND OTHER MEMBERS OF MY PREVIOUS LIFE, AS WELL, AS MY KIDNAPPER OF THE PAST

DAD FLEW OFF AND GOT PAUL BERENYI TO HELP HIM, FIGURE OUT A WAY TO FIND A WAY TO SEND RAIN DOWN TO

RID THE DREADED FIRES, I CAN GO UMMMMMMMM  GET RID OF THESE FIRES  UMMMMMMMM GET RID OF THEM NOW

UMMMMMMMMM SEND RAIN MR BARRY ALLAN, UMMMMMMM WHEN YA CAN, UMMMMMMMM GET RID OF THESE BLASTED FIRES, RIGHT NOW

YOU SEE DAD KNOWS IT WILL BE HARD WORK, BUT  IT CAN BE DONE

UMMMMMMMM GET RID OF THESE FIRES   UMMMMMMMMM  SEND RAIN MR BARRY ALLAN, UMMMMMMM TO RID THE FIRES FOREVER AND EVER

UMMMMMMMM I WANT DAD TO GUIDE SCIENTISTS TO FIND A WAY TO MAKE RAIN, BECAUSE MY RAIN DANCE OVER SOUTH AUSTRALIA WORKED

UMMMMMMMM   COME ON SCIENTISTS, LET DAD GUIDE YOU  WHERE THE RAIN REALLY IS

SO NOBODY LOSES THEIR PROPERTIES, UMMMMMMMMM I KNOW IT’S HARD WORK, BUT WE MUST MEND EVERY BLADE OF GRASS

UMMMMMMMMM  WE MUST MEND EVERY BLADE OF GRASS, UMMMMMMM WE MUST MEND EVERY BLADE OF GRASS

IF WE GET THE RAIN TO COME, DAD NEEDS SCIENTISTS TO HELP, UMMMMMMMM UMMMMMMMM UMMMMMMMM I AM A BUDDHIST HEALER

UMMMMMMMMMM  DAD STAN BURNS AND STAN NIEMIC AND PAUL BERENYI  ARE TRYING TO HELP SCIENTISTS BRING RAIN WHERE IT NEEDS RAIN

UMMMMMMMMM EVERY BLADE OF GRASS  UMMMMMMMMM EVERY BLADE OF GRASS  UMMMMMMMM EVERY BLADE OF GRASS

I met a check-out chick the other day,
I asked how was her New Year's Day, okay,
She said she had a dreadful New Year's Day.
Her boyfriend battling bushfires with the CFA,
He had never been so far away,
What on earth could I say?
Our firies are like superheroes today,
Right there with Superman, okay?
Would you give them a salary or lunch money? Hey,
They don't do it for the money, okay?
Well, give them all a gold medal,  I say,
When these bushfires are gone one day,
Chats about our firies everywhere these days!
Feedback welcome.

The tree of life
Soaks in the winds of sorrow
That whisper songs of woe
But nobody can hear it
No one could bear it
Expanding and contracting with each stiff breeze
Releasing punishing winds that dare seize
But with each breath, now short and alone
Construct wildfire all on its own

Grief and isolation
Spreading bushfires
Slowing burning down the branches
As we respire
What is left in our hollow trees
The severity of loss taking overwhelmingly
When all is lost, we are left with misery
The constant cycle of life
The suffering
My second piece of my B.O.W ..the lungs-the grief taking over a person can lead to death and what a horrible death it would be.

Drag my feet across the space of time. Down the rungs of laddered rooms. So many doors. Most are locked now. Soles pricked by evergreen. Every remembrance, a splinter. Subcutaneous, then deeper. Hypodermic nostalgia. Pin-cushioned and pine-needled. I could pull them out. But relief is not found in extinguishing bushfires. This wooden heart needs to burn free. Poplar, ash, maple…there is a forest within me. Limbs upon limbs draping and dripping and gracing skin that falls away when the weight is too much. And the lightness never seems to last beyond three months. Appendages on oaken tombs. Endless hallways. Sealed doorframes. This winter is eternal, and my timber…a pyre. Lips pressed to polaroid.
I’ve become a jungle of eulogy.
A thicket on fire.

Australia is on fire
and I imagine that I can smell
the burning fur and flesh of
animals I can’t even name.

I’m full of ****.

The truth of me is that
bushfires a world away
are not the reason
I haven’t been dry
a day since Christmas.

No
The World’s Problems
do not keep me awake.

Syrian children with melted skin
won’t ever feel as real as
knowing I have not looked -really looked
into the eyes of my own in months.

The m&m’s the Vraylar drug rep brought are real though
they are as real as the number on the scale.

Which is at least as real as my boss
when she used the words “corrective action.”

Which was at least as real as my ex-husband
who is back to the job of propping up his half of my life.

Which is at least as real as The Boy who is a friend turned stranger
who wrote the poem I stole those words from.

It’s turtles all the way down.

"...IT HAS PLEASED THE GOD OF BATTLES..."

General Dan is visiting
his leg

at the Military Museum
for 50 years now.

The one he lost
at Gettysburg.

Walt is visiting the wounded
and the many dying

at the Patent Office
press ganged into a makeshift

hospital
in glass cases

patents stare
at patients

"every kind of invention
it ever occured..."

the poet remarks
"into the mind of man

...to conceive."

A soldier laughs out loud
even as the President visits.

He has been handed
a religious tract

"The Sin of Dancing"
he who

has
no legs.

A crop of amputated feet
grows higher and higher.

How human are
a man's toes.

A dead Confederate
is dragged into position

to make
a better photograph.

Bushfires rage
through the Wilderness.

The scream of the wounded
being burnt alive

begging to be shot
"Did we or did we not

do all
that men could do>"

Shot through the socket
the eye bulges out

both brothers and
yet both survive

Microscopium constellation
looks down upon

this world of men
amazed to find itself

nailed to the Museum's floor
by some man's art

sharing the space
with General Dan's lost leg

that still lives on
in its glass case.

Obscure and barely visible
to the naked eye

just like the constellation
of the dead.

Man now
in a museum

falls asleep with
a book upon his lap

"Lost, Missing and
Troublesome Stars"

Like a musket shot
it wakes the sleeper up

turns heads as

Once were dinners a deux, you see,
Was it only a few months, or a century?
Once were schools abuzz with kids,
Teachers agog to see what they did,
Once were universities,
Alive with youthful dreams, indeed,
Once were pubs with beers.
Once were football here,
These are viral times, my dears,
Once were bushfires too,
A horror story for me and you,
Yes, Stephen King wrote this year,
Once were Oz fun times, not fears.

Aestival

bright are January's skies
robust light poured
into antipodeal
atmospheres
azure blue
interspersed
occasionally
by slow moving
cotton ball cumulus
feeding into endless
cerulean horizons

the effulgent outer world
blows
into my inner pnuema
and heat rushes in
melting to puddles of wanting
my intended precept
of cool headedness

the fires of missing you
so blazingly perfervid
they strike envy
into Olympus Mons
molten heart
scorching every
living thing in vengeance

I am mapped internally
pointered
by embered markers
in all the hues of longing
which bleed in through
fevered *****

like a forest scorched
laid to barren hot dust
by racing bushfires
time hangs in the heat haze
begging for the quench
only found in your kiss
to soothe these
internal infernos

my eyes ache
through the dusty
miraged heat
straining
to fix you
in my sightlines

only then
will these raging fires
be subdued

This is inspired by, and a direct 'bounce off' one of Crows poems here, 'Hibernal' (link below) that I absolutely loved.  Thank you Crow, for letting me take the liberty, of using yoir poem 'Hibernal' as a jumping off point for this one

I’d like to shake your hand.
I’d love to hug you
But those gentle acts of kindness,
Once a natural thing
Are now forbidden sins
With a grim sentence of death.

The roads are empty.
So are the bars;
Scars of social distance
Borne near and far.

Fear and uncertainty
Fills the air.
Cases rise like bushfires in Brisbane
Filling ICU’s, beds and morgues
To overflowing.
.
For whom
Tolls the next bell of infection?
A silent killer roams;
Unseen. Unheard. Unhinged.
A nightmare on every street
Of humanity.

Your race or royal blood
Cannot protect you.
Your wealth and walls of segregation
Are useless as an idiot with a blond toupee.

Your life flashes before you.
What heinous deed have we done
To earn this vicious wrath of Nature?
This mutant of terror.
This sobering reminder
Of our fleeting mortality.
Of the need to curb
Our insatiable greed
And abuse of God’s sacred home and children.

i should be stronger
but i'm a stranger to strength
like a lone ranger
that runs the river's length
i go home
to see it taken back by the bank
and bushfires rage
crops reduced to soot
turn that page
to a chapter that's good
book bust?
change the story
be a space cadet, and get real far out
or a distinguished genius
decorated general

Storms..floods..earthquakes..bushfires...Global warming..
Leaving devastation and destruction in its wake
We can't treat this planet like **** no more
It's high time we awake
We are robbing birds and animals of their natural habitat
I guess most of the natural disasters that mankind has been facing over the years is Nature's way of saying.. *** for tat
Cutting trees.. Building concrete jungles..Pouring wastes into the rivers and seas and oceans
We really are hellbent on destruction
We are creating a dangerous future
When will we realize it?
It's not too late for us to mend our ways
Coz if we don't then I'm afraid we'll be staring at darker days
For once we should try and abandon our arrogance and ego
Let's give Mother Nature the respect she deserves and watch her put on a show

Destroyed one thousand homes
Ended seven human lives
