Funny how we're so scared about the future when tomorrow is not even guaranteed.

It's funny, how I keep going back
to remind myself I need to move forward

Daylight, it seems seldom seen
Your absence tells which season's close
Time to reflect on months gone by,
Darken thoughts begin to flow

Passing smiles caught through busy streets
Searching for warmth indoors in front of fires
Glasses clink, toasting the year's end
Solemn thoughts of moments never shared

One last farewell, to yet another year
It's late now, a window candle is lit
One more drink poured, the last stories shared
Another year, things change, the same thoughts afflict

Him
I loved him.
And I love this brokenness he left in me.

The freckles on my chest,
that carry his name.

The loneliness in my eyes,
that wonder where he sleeps at night.

I carry his pain,
and I sleep with it in the dark,
when the sun is still out.

It's better than feeling numb.
This hurt, tells me he's still alive inside of me.

He's the reason my dead heart,
still tries to beat for life.

To My Husband

As I watch your life, slipping away
We share all the things we want to say

We have time to reflect, encourage and love
To be grateful with warmth, to look beyond and above

We remember the good and laugh at the bad
And take time to listen and embrace the sad

It is a rich time, this time that we have
What has been, what is now, is what will be had

As your strength fades, and your eyes slowly dim
We look beyond the body you are in

When death approaches and your final breath taken
We know your spirit, will soar with elation

You will look at this world and say your goodbyes
And peace will take you as you pass through the sky’s

All the best for your journey
Your loving wife
My husband was diagnosed with terminal stomach cancer we only had a few months to say goodby and make peace. It was the richest time of our marriage

Change
Sometime it hurts
Moving on
Taking back
Especially
  Giving birth...
But change
Is good
For all that it's worth

If only to
Change
The way we feel
Adopt a no big deal
An attitude not known to ****

Changes
In our beliefs
Separation is the loss of peace
Religious hearts surely decay
At the end of the spiritual maze

Change now, before the mirror
Watch your aura, getting clearer
The change is taking place
Right here in outer space

A strange voice rants through me at times...
Never fall in love with a poet
for their words are sometimes lies
on occasions they're a shield
on occasions a disguise

They will take you on a journey
upon which they bare their soul
in a bid to ease your burdens
in a bid to make you whole

But in every word they choose
for the stories that they tell
lies a little piece of heaven
and a little piece of hell

Tormented souls we poets are
sometimes quite broken and despaired
in search of lost expressions
missed by others who once cared

Never fall in love with a poet
unless you're prepared to share their pain
to hold them close on the darkest nights
over and again
