When there is no sun
and no moon around
The darkness reflects
Night shines the brightest

Flashlights take us places
to make our way through spaces
the time moves slower
and dark clouds hover

blinding black surround
and echoes of voices of hounds
the heart freezes
we sleep till late

Keep our eyes closed
to protect from the truth
Hands on every surface
finding the path out

Hoping to come across
morning rays coming through glasses
Urging to wake from
this terrible nightmare

I never wake up
in someone else's arms
but that's okay.
I could let
loneliness devour all the happiness
flying into my window
but to allow
darkness to swallow light whole
wouldn't bring him back.

Today's Haiku

Early morning walks,
Wake up the soul of the world.
Has yours awoken?

I walk my dog every morning and witness dawn waking up.  It is very inspiring.

Yellow comes to mind
When I hear your voice
How it sounds so alive
Midst the dawning day

With eyes like morning sunlit rise
And a squinting glance which cannot stay
You are short and breathy as the mist
Which always tries but cannot reside

And when I wake up you're all of this
Within me and most definitely mine

"wake me when you leave" she says
she sleeps, i watch her breathe
i wait, i write, i look at her
and grin in disbelief
