Depression is going outside
and seeing the sun shining brightly
but still only feeling rain.

Depression is standing in a room
with bullets flying in every direction
and being without a shield.

Depression is wearing a muzzle
blocking you from thinking you're
good enough to speak and ask for help.

I carry this mask to hide behind
And cache away my flaws
But know me, know me
Is my cry

I make myself this camouflage
Though please do not be fooled
See past my guise
See me, see me
Is my cry

Peirce through my shield into my heart
There you'll see I'm torn apart
I play like asphalt
But there's music in my heart

You are that person I see as light
but now your light seemed fading.
Our journey is still a long one
but your smile is slowly disappearing.

May I raise you up?
May I helped you smile again?.
May I help you stand because I know your knees are weak?.
May I carry you throughout the path.?
All I want is keep you smiling,

To give you all that your heart needs the most.
May I be the shield that would protect your happiness?.
May I be the one to be there always.

All that’s made me is all worth trading
just to have one moment with you,
to make you smile again.
PLS smile again

Playing games
To shield myself from everything
That could hurt me outside
My shattered core
So when I for once want to reveal
My broken soul
Noone belives me

There was a brave and selfless knight
His armour shone, exceeding bright
And sworn he was, for all his days
To do what he thought right

When once, upon a whim, he took
A shortcut ‘round a little brook
He came upon a pretty maid
And promise he forsook

For came a dragon through the field
The knight his mighty blade did wield
The worm, with flaming wings unfurled
Crashed hard against his shield

Escaped the knight into the wood
When save the girl, only he could
For life he deemed more precious, there
Than doing what he should

The dragon ceased her attack, when
Pursued by braver knights and men
She turned, at bay, and died to save
The young ones in her den

Judge not the greatest nor the least
Until you see the soul in deeds
But now decide, of these two, which
Was nobler... man or beast?
An aegis is an ancient greek type of shield. If someone's aegis was shattered in battle, his brothers-in-arms would protect him from the enemy with their own shields. Someone under such protection was said to be "under the aegis" of his friend. Over time, the word evolved to mean literally both the shield itself and the idea of protection in general.
