Some people say
that our destruction is waiting
in the dark matter of our lives–
the crap upon which we bestow the gift
of invisibility;
the crap we pretend doesn’t exist-
that we ignore until we can't.
But I don’t really see it.

No one will ever stop me,
you'll never devour me,
I have grown to care less
about people who fail
to see my worth.

You will never water down
my self esteem,
I burn like kerosene,
and now all my words
gather together
to prove that you
will never matter,
never make me shatter.

You deemed me disempowered,
inferior,
but you've never glimpsed
my interior.
You deemed me all the things
I'll never be;
it doesn't bother me.

Because I will keep
moving forward and growing,
cutting away the weeds, ruthlessly
planting new seeds,
but you on the other hand,
your heart will become puckered
and your skin will grow to match it,
tainted and wrinkled by
the millions of seconds you spent
underestimating a masterpiece.

There's a reason why the sun is the center of the solar system.
It means, the world does not revolve around me.
It's a truth that I often forget.
But one thing is for sure:
I still matter,
No matter what.
I occupy space and breathe its air.
I'm not just an energy at rest and then consumed
And in a loop.

I have a body, soul, and spirit
That is making imprints
And is ready to change the world
One breath at a time.
You matter.
Take responsibility
And get things done
Stop talking about doing things
Or else, procrastination will catch up to you in the long run
Good thoughts and words
Only mean so much
They do not say how you feel
Eventually, you will lose touch

Running through the streets of New York in the rain

is like standing at the edge of the world and having no idea where you want to go.

All I know

is that as my hair hung, wet, and the moisture that hit my skin, set,
I could feel myself living.

I could feel the people parading the streets.
Their feet hitting the floor harder and faster than the raindrops that fell around them.
Their sound
echoing the gun shots they walked in dispute of.
Their shouts
screamed louder for them by the skies above.

I was but a particle of one minuscule droplet that fell to the pavement on one street of that entire city that night.

But I felt like the storm.
