God seems pleased with making me weak in these dark waters.
Not only is it night, but I am in the shark quarters.

I’m exhausted like long flights, mixed in with shark bites.
I’d rather jump down two flights than face this next wave of true fright.

My mind is turning like waves; I’m burning inside with all rage.
Before I head to my grave, I meet with endless caves.

These are unfixed depths, Nowhere to place my steps. This deep is cosmic; it’s gaping. Unplumbed and spacious,
It’s gaping and yawning,
Where vicious life is spawning.

I’m in a losing battle, you see, throwing sand at Helm’s Deep.
The deep is breaking my knees; I’m quickly drowning to sleep.
This poem is from my book The Progressive Darkness: For the Christian Losing Hope in Depression

Coffee drips blue to the touch
Dark on its own brewed as such
I take one sip it’s over by the next
I take one cup,
And the three follow to keep me vexed.

I don’t understand what is happening
Why my dependence on caffeine is rising
Why I need that cold brew
Oh! But my coffee
That sweet drip of toffee!
like iced americanos / cold brew blacks nowadays. Bitter as the truth
The type that
makes your
skin craw,
not a peep,
not a creek,
no type of
sound at all,
the shortening
of days,
the early
night falls,
where no one
ever hears
your
beck and call,
the dark skies
are so dreary,
so late up at night,
the darkness
seems so eerie
almost giving
you a fright,
in your
Home
is where you
shall find
comfort
and delight

Swim away with me deep down under
to a place where all my thoughts gather
A ruthless torrent of pain and anger
A trench of sorrows and endless hunger

The eternal pit of restless slumber
Of broken songs in deep dark water
Where pain stops when fear take-over
Drown with me in this heedless stupor

We were embers of danger embedded in
plight

We threw gender to blenders and begun a new fight

We surrendered our splendor to sleep for the
night

But our nightmares still tendered their souls for
The light

The Darkness follows without a sound.
So stay alert and be aware.
For the suffocating air is all around.

Be wary and silent, like a cloud.
Because you never know what is where.
The Darkness follows without a sound.

Take in a deep breath, any hope found.
As soon, it will be taken away, far away.
For the suffocating air is all around.

Sometimes, the dark is good, never to be found.
You can stay lost all you want.
The Darkness follows without a sound.

But sometimes it chokes, it takes and it bounds.
And you never know which you will get.
For the suffocating air is all around.

How much do you wish to stay lost and unbound?
And simply lose all to nothing?
Well the Darkness follows without a sound.
And the suffocating air is all around.

a hawk without feathers,
skin, hollow bones,
its avianness severed by the wickedness it knows,
it sits upon a house,
the house that's always stood,

(by the cave with the painted walls,
after the massacre
     of the neanderthals;
by the agora, where the voting took place,
in sight of which they signed
     constitutions
     and other contracts in black typeface;
by the workplace;
by the banks;
downtown,
     between the metal-glass towers,
     footpath from it
     to the corridors of power)

out of time, it is: a Wormwood,
where men gather to unaffix themselves from the good.
the hawk has eyes of malice,
it watches as you come to the door,
inside, it smells of money, might and phosphor
us.

Ive never been a believer
Not in the preternal, supernatural entities
That command our lives.
When chaos errupts
Or the ensuring peace in the eye of the hurricane
The feeling lingers
a want, a need arises.
Suddenly when I look at myself
In the hollowed reflection of the mirrors gaze
I have never prayed more fervently
To a god that I don't believe in
That thinks my life a sin
I pray, postrate and beg,
Til my tongue is full of blisters,
And my lips are cracked
That I could be welcomed into the silence

Give me peace.
Give me death.
Give me quiet.

For it must be hard to love someone
Who loves death more.
Addition through subtraction
Is the banner of the warring faction
Collections of heroic action
Gilded slices
Framed in fractions
Imbibing the well
Gaining traction
Just enough to coax distraction

One step forward and another step Backwards…

Was it ever really ours to begin with?
No…
Is this a bad feeling you can sit with?
Hey!
Is everything better when it’s infinite?
Well…
Filling in the blanks of your war path
Go…
Disguising your ambitions as a rough draft
Stay!

They max out capacity
For competent destruction
When experience and cunning
And confident instruction
Lays down its fears
Wastes all its weapons
Succeeds in defeating
The tenets of justice
Consulting in tandem
With forces abroad
Gaining gilded grace
from God

One step forward and another step Backwards…

Was it ever really ours to begin with?
No…
Is this a bad feeling you can sit with?
Hey!
Is everything better when it’s infinite?
Well…
Filling in the blanks of your war path
Go…
Disguising your ambitions as a rough draft
Stay!

Approach the core
The idle center
All can stay
None may enter
Exchange your fate
For private venture
Gold arrays for carnal pleasure
Pair off in groups
To find the treasure
Waxing, waning
Mental pressure
Trauma can be hard to measure

One step forward and another step Backwards…

Was it ever really ours to begin with?
No…
Is this a bad feeling you can sit with?
Hey!
Is everything better when it’s infinite?
Well…
Filling in the blanks of your war path
Go…
Disguising your ambitions as a rough draft
Stay!

Afterwards they find themselves in quite the conundrum
Fifty-odd pounds of force swinging like a pendulum
No more battered heroes coming ‘round to defend them
Act against inaction
The final addendum

One step forward and another step Backwards…

Was it ever really ours to begin with?
No…
Is this a bad feeling you can sit with?
Hey!
Is everything better when it’s infinite?
Well…
Filling in the blanks of your war path
Go…
Disguising your ambitions as a rough draft
Stay!
Stay!
Stay!
