Deep Thought Jan 2017
This year I want to start a new tradition. One that's my own. At the end of each year I'd like to write what I've learned. No, this isn't another "New Year, New Me," poem, simply a fresh perspective.

Oh 2016, where do I even begin? This past year brought immense pain, yet so much clarity after the heartache subsided. I learned that you have to love yourself before you can love anyone else. Unfortunately, I lost that loved one before I could learn that lesson. Now that it's been taught, by the grace of God I am no longer lost.

2016 was the year I did it all on my own. Okay, who am I kidding I'm a millennial so my dad did help me along the road. 2016 was about choosing your battles while fighting the good fight. I also learned it's not always about you. In fact, it's safe to say it's never about you. We're merely just pieces in a big spiritual puzzle, and that truth will never be muzzled.

**Happy New Year & Cheers to 2017!
Wishing you blessings. Let's await and seee what this year has in store.

Liberate your soul
And unshackle your mind.
You'll be amazed
At the beauty you shall find.
I have days where I swell with pride
About what I have and what is mine
My feet shuffle amongst my space
A subconscious smile lights my face
I never thought I’d have all of this
The fact that I’m even here is bliss
So thankful indeed, grateful I am
It would be a disservice to not expand

I radiate Blessings
I radiate Kindness
I radiate Gratitude
Always
Me
The me I strive to be.
The me I hope I am.
The me I want to be.
Me
For All
To All
Ye winter air is so cold and crisp.
Such invites shivers upon my lips.
Wearing the suit of armor to wage battle against Jack Frost
A melodic song "One Moment In Time"
Is Ushered into the moment by Miss Whitney
As we walk in memories
Proud that the loss of sun tans and the Summer Sun
was the only cost
To the change of scenes
In this Play of Life
Shivers up and down my cold spine.
My limbs involuntarily shiver the movement to Winter's act
Like such of a French Mime.
To narrate the Mid-Western Atmosphere
that works in the spirit of the Holidays
Such temporary cheer and jolly
are never here to stay.
One might only count the dollars and cents until the Christmas Lights
or The Monera Flames.
In my spiritual Nurturing
That this season of Jack Frost and The Legends of Santa Bring to me
Last all year long...For others to see.
Now , as this poem comes to a closure.
A wink and a smile to you
As excitement for the holidays is contained
while I keep my composure.
A picture in your head of great blessings and cheer
is what I long for in a world troubled and living in fear.
Be kind for this short time span. What does it hurt?
To greet Lady Luck and Liberty's Kindness with a flirt?

How unworthy is my soul of the
abundance of blessing that have
been bestowed upon it?

How wretched I have been in my
dealings and thinking when I am
unwrapping the package that engulfs
myself like parchment paper.

Instead of gently peeling away my
nuances so that the mixture of my
true meaning can be exposed, I
choose to rip open that paper
relentlessly letting the flavors
and juices escape only to be
lost forever.

I am so reckless!

Falling leaves
Rising memories
A feast for the eyes
We serve one another
Love and understanding
It is the day to give thanks
For the many blessings of life
But to those who can only weep
We pray for your deliverance
And the harvest of your faith
Even though we always fall short
Because perfection is not purpose
But instead it is in how we forgive
And I too have failed my friend
As impossible as walking on water
To shower love upon my neighbor
I confess how I am unable to do so
Still I find myself sheltered in comfort
And though you have done no wrong
You have felt the sword of a mortal fate
But by the depths of your heart and soul
Your place among the blessed is reserved
For in every smile you pass along the way
There is a sadness not unlike yourself
They have not found the meaning of pain
Only the way to soothe a broken heart
In earthly treasures and a poison glass
And so from my own sadness I will ask of you
Is it the will of your smile to forgive a sinner?
For what is in you knows the weakness in me
And what is in me wants to love what is in you

Will there ever be peace
Or is it only what I am able to ignore?
Is it peace in my world only
Or peace for those too who are poor?
Is it peace for my family
Or peace for suffering in times before?
Will there ever be peace
I don’t know Lord what you have in store

Will there ever be peace
Or is it only when I close my door?
Is it peace for an empty wallet
Or only for those who have more?
Is it peace for a full closet
Or for those with an empty drawer?
Will there ever be peace
I don’t know Lord who you saved it for

I AM GRATEFUL---
for having my family
they are safe and healthy
we have roof over our heads and
clothes to keep us warm
there is always food on our table...

I AM GRATEFUL, THAT ---
on each new day,  i am able to
get up, alone...without much effort
can wash my face, brush my teeth,
clean my bathroom regularly
take a shower on my own
cook what i want to eat,
eat alone...
change the curtains in my bedroom
change my bedsheets without help,
as often as i want to...

I AM GRATEFUL THAT I ---
still celebrated another birthday
will still be able to say THANK YOU!
with family and friends on Thanksgiving day
make scary decors for Halloween
deck our house with a tree and lanterns before December
hung stars, angels in corners and in between
am strong enough to put them all away when Christmas is over...

I AM GRATEFUL I AM STILL---
able to witness
how a night of fireworks and celebrations
easily segues into a day of new beginnings...

I AM GRATEFUL THAT I CAN WRITE---
share my thoughts, my moments,
look back to the past with a smile,
find contentment where i am now,
still look forward to my future,
wake up to each new day
and another.......and
another.....and
another...
and
A N O T H E R .

Thanksgiving must come with every breath
For we are showered with Blessings without end...
