You are my wife, you are my mother.
You are my auntie, you are my sister.
You are my girlfriend, you are my acquaintance.
You are my niece, you are my daughter.
You are a widow, and even my grandmother
I celebrate you!
You are divine,epitome of strength.
You are not just a Woman
You birth and nurture generations after generations.
You soften rocks, coarse floods,
You melt metals and water existence.
You give motion to life
You are The Worthy- Ordained Mother to Advance Nations.
Yes You are a WOMAN
I Celebrate You Today and every day .
By Otuogbodor Okeibunor.
Sometimes it feels like nothing
Trying to what end?
The energy wasted on emptiness
Broken and hard to mend.

The weeks are always spiraling
An inconsistent heart-
Unable to read between the lines
Should we be apart?

The love no longer exists
Living out memories-
Pretending that it's still the same
Hiding behind what used to be.

In the gentle quiet
When most are fast asleep
The velvet night envelopes
The people as they breathe
The deep breath’s of the resting
The murmurs as they dream
As all the stresses of the day
Are melted right away

Looking in the mirror
I see the man I am
Not perfect but surviving
Doing everything I can
To provide for my family
Give them everything they need
Hoping with my being
That they see my tiresome deeds
I wish to put my feet up
To finish with my work
But I know my family needs me
And for that I’ll never shirk
The lake is frozen
Some of the geese are standing
Testing their webbed feet
My worst regret in life,
Which still hurts the most,
Is sending my children for further studies abroad.
They NEVER  came back,
Got married and settled there,
Leaving me bereft of their closeness,
And joy of grandchildren.
