Even a single wave is enough to fill a bucket.

Gray days, grayer nights.
One leaf, stands out
in many, like a pearl
in dirt.

I am bound to an endless tale
Written by a mastermind
Called Fate

I live within its books
Filled with dust
And written in days of old

Within the writings of a genius
I look for a flaw, I look for a singer
Called Belief

So that I can escape
This restless dream,
These black inked letters

Like worms in dirt we burrow
Our faces and expressions
We force them to dwell there.
We make that our obsession.

We know how fragile they are,
Yet we make them fight their way out.
Then we wonder why they're broken
Like eggs when they surface about.

Then yet again we do the same,
And plead them to survive unhurt,
Even though we know they are
Buried inside our bodies' dirt.

Madness,
sadness.
Intertwining mistresses.
Hands wrapped, tightly around me.
Caress soft as cotton,
all my words gone; forgotten.

One thing I can only hear,
in this place I most fear.
My name its calling--
this voice I cannot shake--
my ****** soul--I hear it break.
Blood turned cold. I'm falling
deeper and deeper into a
void of ever-lasting winter.

She holds the light, tender in her hands,
In mixed colors her eyes glimmer
The fusion of water and desert sands.

Her hair a velvet made of sunshine,
Her mouth extends, forms a smile
Touching cheeks as red as wine.

Skin so soft, so warm but pale,
Distant memories sadden her face
On which fallen tears have left a trail.

In the land of the honest,
the liar is king.
Too much honesty isn't always a good thing.

Is it trust? Or is it pain?
Belief or a chain?
Is there anything to gain?

Those words flicker,
As sadness gets thicker,
And loss comes quicker...

Yet hope remains still,
High atop an empty hill,
With paper and quill.

It rewrites your fate...
But is it now too late?

In these ruins of depression,
Where souls are filled with void,
Left empty by the mists of madness.

Under these grey skies,
Where mayhem and havoc
Hold each other's hands.

In this darkened hall
Of unfinished paintings,
Where even tranquil ghosts
Fall into oblivion.

In the blink of an eye,
I would die, just to meet
That special someone,
Who will end it all for me!

The hollow night awakens
As I breathe the monochrome.
It will all be over soon I say,
All I need to do is have the will
To wait for only a little while,
The morning will surely come.
But I wonder, Will it be my last?
Will my heart be frozen in time?
There is nothing to cut this silence.
All which surrounds me is as dull
As the edge of the overused blade of life.
The horror thickens as even the last
Piece of whiteness turns to black.
I feel as though I'm drowning in mud,
It fills my lungs and I lose myself
With each passing moment.

Lost, I walk through the ruins of the found,
A mirrored false hope entangled around
The blinding light far in the distance,
Poisoned and tainted its existence.

I begged and prayed, but no one was there,
Now I'm frightened, like a mouse in a dragon's lair.
The darkness has reached the roots of my world,
It's coming for me, with its vortex all curled.

Like the dying breath of a candle flame
My dreams vanish alongside my name.
I've long-realised there is no rebirth,
So now I only drown myself in this soiled earth.

Like waveless water I am.
Static; unchanging.
Nothing. Nothing ever changes within me.
But, empty I am not.
I am not empty, I have pain.
And pain it may be, it is still with and within me.
And though hurt me it may, I am not alone and I am not empty.
And I will never, ever, give it up!
For it is the sole thing which tells me, that I am...
Alive...

If you only knew
How I really feel
About you

I want to know
What you would do

Would you be shot
By Cupid's bow
Or would you go
And leave me alone

Would you let me
Pull you in
Touch your lips
And let me sin

Or would you go
Run away
Leave me
Without a word to say

I want to know
What you would do
If you knew
How I truly feel
About you

It's funny how most people my age
just want to go out and socialize
while the best times of my life
are the ones I spent (and spend) alone in my bed
with melancholic music and closed eyes

Through Death's doors he arrived
In an unknown land
He was revived
By demon hand
Of freedom he was deprived

Two moons in the sky
Two sides on the ground
Suddely a battle cry
Now, his fate is bound

He raised his hand up high
A glimmer of light in his eyes
He stood there as men wondered why
His mind now reaching newer highs

With a magic circle above his head
"By my will you shall abide
No longer you are cast aside"
From the sky a single spider thread

Down came a creature of old
With a giant head and a blackened spike
"Now it's power you shall behold"
The man said as it began to strike

The soldiers now united fought
Standing against a common foe
The creature's death they sought

Two thousand men
Fallen to the ground, slain
The creature, whithering in pain

With swords and spears
To pierce the ancient they tried
But too thick was it's hide

The fight went on and on
On the soldiers it took a great toll
But the creature, it began to fall
As it arrived, the new dawn.

Then, four wizards came
With a task in mind
A creature to tame
A creature to bind

"Fall to your gloom
to meet your doom"
The powerful chant
Made them pant

"Forever doomed"
The chanting resumed
"Forever bound
Nowhere to be found"

A hole in the ground
Within it hellish fire
The creature made a screeching sound
It had invoked the wizards' ire

They were chanting and mumbling
As the ground was crumbling
The situation was quite dire
But the hole turned into mire

The man had fled
And it all came to an end
As the wizards swore
The kingdom to defend

Far from home
I'm on the road
And in my chest
I have this load

I'll tell you why
I'll tell you all
Before I die
And have no soul

I rode upon
The wings of Death
And escaped
It's lifeless breath

The one who helped
The one I found
Is my love
That made me bound

And in the face
Of Gods and men
I'll tell you why
I'll fight again

No escape
From what's to come
But in front of Death
No longer numb

Escaped it once
I'll beat it twice
I won't be
It's sacrifice!

In the eyes of the trees,
We're just like the fallen leaves.
Like the wind after the storm,
Like the silence without a form.

We're simply ignorant,
And to the Earth, malignant.
No thought of consequence,
Was brought by our incompetence.

The Sun lends us a helping hand,
To see what we've done to our land,
And all we see, we ignore,
We're all but children, of war...

I want to be a leaf.
A tiny leaf atop a tall tree,
where darkness holds no sway,
where the stars shine during long nights,
where the sun can warm me on tough days.

I want to watch as foxes run,
to hear the wolves howl at the moon,
to feel the wind and rain on me,
to be one with nature.

I want to live the life of a leaf
without suffering and pain,
to be at peace and feel safe
when I bloom and when I fall.

I want you here,
Right next to me,
I want you near,
So that my eyes can see.

And each time I see,
Your captivating smile,
It makes me feel free,
At least for a while.

Oh how I wish,
It could last forever.
I would never leave you.
Ever!

The flames dance
just as our hearts did
when we met by chance

Our love is a vortex of souls,
Tormented, tattered, torn.
Recreated, rejuvenated,
Then tortured once again.

Nothing but whispers of melancholy,
Depression, despair, disaster.
Menacing, morbid
Are our nights spent in the dirt.

I hate you, yet I love you
Sincerely, silently, secretly.
Forlorn, forgotten,
Your smile, like an illusion of the past.

Leaves twist to my flute's tune.
Gentle waves of breeze hit my cheeks
as I sit on damp grass--its smell fills me.

Grey clouds, perched atop
rocky mountain peaks, bid the sky goodbye,
yet the sun has not yet come around.

Fearless, yet with caution,
a deer sips from the lake's crystal clear water.
Turns to me with sullen eyes;
tears dripping down its cheeks like rain.

My heart throbs as it sits next to me.
It, too, watches the lake with a dreary soul.
A distant waterfall murmurs whispers of hope for us both
as we await the sun's faraway arrival.

In my dreams I find a sanctuary,
Beside stones of shattered amethyst.
Lighted, by the blood red moon.

I watch them glitter brightly,
And absorb my inner thoughts.
I indulge, in the essence of tranquility.

My suffering fades from within,
As I lose myself in a world of solitude.
I wish, to never leave this lonely place.

In these barren wastes,
Of foul smell and clouds grey,
Should I give up? Nay!

In the midst of night,
I see, the brightest star,
Oh, such a mesmerizing sight!

I follow her, my evening star,
She'll always guide me home,
Whether I'm near, or I'm far.

Neither here nor there I was
when you blossomed amid autumn.
The well, I heard, had been emptied.
Saddened, I sat on the porch and
watched the orange sky glaze by
like we used to. Come twilight
I reminisced the old days.
You said it would be fine if
reaching out was not an option.
So, neither here nor there I was,
but deep inside I always knew
the dog wouldn't hunt.

A tulip in a field of roses gazes into me
With uncertainty and with passion.

Her dazzling lips steal my gasp,
As though I was stabbed
By a sword forged in wonder.

Her hair is like woven moonlight,
Her caress is like sweet honey,
And her voice the light in my darkness.

My thoughts go numb at her sight
As the solemn silence breaks free,
And I only wish to hold her
Like the candle holds its flame.

What is right?
What is wrong?
I wonder why
I have this song
In my mind
And in my heart
Am I a poet
Or am I a bard
I sing along
As I write
But my voice
Has no light
rattletaptap Jun 2015

Not even a door.

So please be patient

The horror show has begun.
I am the centerpiece.
More terrified,
Than the crowd around me.

Fear has found its way,
Deep within my soul.
It swims inside,
A fluidless sea.

The audience smells it,
Like hounds of hell.
Waiting for the moment,
To catch its taste.

I hear a voice and its holy say.
“Hush your mouth and close your eyes.
They are coming your way,
But do not run!”

I heed its words and embrace the abyss.
Endless darkness surrounds me.
Whilst falling in a bottomless pit,
I invite the dreary loneliness.

The morning was there, shinning like
Freshly smithed iron. And I, I
Was in my room, tightly gripping a knife...

The window opened and I saw
A cat brush against the wooden frame.
"Still the same, still the same" I heard it  say.

"Let me be, and just let me die.
I beg to have the last moments
Of my life; to do so in solitude."

"Fool... still the same..." I heard it say.
Its eyes looked at me as though the void
Was staring at me with its emptiness.

"Leave, ****** cat. All I knew is wrong,
All I had is now gone. I am...
Empty... so tell me why I am a fool."

"All you knew may be wrong, but all
You did not may be right. Why turn a
Circle into a half one? Tell me why."

"I don't understand you demon, go,
Leave  me, let me die alone, let me
Be at last, at peace. I wish only for that..."

"Still the same, still the same" I heard it say
"Why run and get tired, when you can walk
And feel at ease, and have strength for later?"

"Leave me, whatever you are, leave me
And let me die. I do not understand
Your riddles, and words as empty as my soul."

"You do as others have done, you fail as
Others have failed. Like a cockroach you
Search for the darkness in the light."

"Go away, I am no petty insect... I am less,
A virus, a virus that only kills others and
Not itself. Now leave and let me die alone."

"Blood will not spill your sins,  steel will
Not end your grief. No death will bring life.
And no darkness will escape the light. Now see..."

The morning was there, shinning like
Freshly smithed iron. And I, I
Was in my room, tightly gripping a knife...

The best silence is the woosh
of wind through trees
on murky nights
rattletaptap May 2016
Silent tears in this world of desperate desire to hold onto hope,
knowing it's a useless thing to do. Dreams running rampant,
while expectations and reality are drowning
like bodies filled with stones.

Souls branded with the word "broken" try to piece themselves
back together with parts of another. It's like trying to put mercury
instead of blood during a blood transfusion and expecting everything to be alright.

No cycle in a monochrome life, only a line:
Pain, sadness, sorrow, misery, death...
Then you're gone.

A shadow walked beneath the streetlight
When the night was dark, with no moonlight.
And as the shadow watched how the stars glittered brightly
They too peeked at it ever-so-slightly.
"I know 'tis my color which frightens you most,
when I walk the nights not as pale as a ghost,
but as dark as the night sky would be without you;
a blackness not even you can peer through."
Bellowed the shadow at the stars.

Many moments of still silence passed.
The shadow only stared at the sky so vast
and waited for the star's responding taunt.
But they remained somewhat nonchalant.
"Are you not angered by what I dare utter?
Have you no words you wish to sputter?
Has the night chained you like a mindless slave?
Have you already dug your own grave?"
And waited the shadow, for answers which never came.

"Have you too grown weary of this old me,
have you too decided to leave; to flee?
Nay, that is untrue, I still see you here,
though dim you are I beg you not to disappear."
Asked and begged the shadow.
"Because who then shall I ever vex,
while I live enshrouded by this wretched hex?"
In displeasure spat the shadow.

"I see you fading back into your abyss,
now all that is left for me is to leave and reminisce.
Then I shall return when once again the moon is no more,
for she is the one I most certainly wish to ignore."
The shadow dissipated, waiting to come another night.
