The water is always warmer than you expect it to be.

She taught me to shut the **** up and think. Think for a minute before I say something. Think for ten before I do something.

The grass may be greener over there but that doesn't mean you shouldn't enjoy the green grass you have over here.

She taught me how to treat others and how I deserve to be treated and how those aren't always in the same way.

You should always drive safely because people love you and they know you're seat belt is broken and it's not hard to keep in touch so stop getting high and text her back.
Hiding behind lipstick and cigarettes,
She slips on a tight dress
Only to slip out of it again and again.
This girl,
This teenage girl that clutches her secrets as she steps onto a midnight street
Where everyone thinks she's just a piece of meat.
They can bite and tear into her until they're satisfied
And then leave her laying with tears in her eyes.
This girl,
This teenage girl, who has already had to learn how to survive.

For hours on end she slips in and out of the dress,
Her clothes disheveled, her hair now a mess.
All she holds onto is that she can make it through.
So, with a stack of cash and a warm cup of Joe,
She shuffles and limps the long way home.
"Food" and "Rent" is laid on the table
And she steps in the shower, barely able.
The tears flow freely with no one is sight
This girl,
This poor, teenage girl, who has become trapped in the night.

A baseline that you feel in your chest,
Humming thick in your ears,
And your mouth,
You just want to live in their blur of impactful words,
That you don’t understand,
Because it’s just a baseline to you,
But have you ever felt so proud of someone?
That what they’re saying, or what they’re playing or who they’re being,
Becomes the only thing that’s keeping off the rain,
And you can see every tooth in the room,
Every heart that becomes unbroken and
        every heart that breaks,
Well it’s a shooting star,
Baby it’s gold dust,
Because his gaze is tattooed on your body,
Under your sweater,
Under your skirt,
Yours is a crime scene littered with his fingerprints,
But you’re no ****** victim,
Jackie,
       Jane,
             Joan,
Wife,
     Mother,
             Daughter,
Survivor,
          Protector,
                     Warrior,
Woman,
Know when it’s dark,
And subtle shadows are all that remains of your bodies,
Finding all the bones in your shoulder,
The piano strings that move your fingers,
And each indentation of your spine,
Is a bible,
But God won’t give him strength,
It’s your skeleton that is fortitude,
You’re the dragon protecting the castle,
You’re Rosie the Riveter,
You can hold up the world with perfectly manicured hands,
You will listen,
And you will care,
Let him breathe in the fractions of your soul that you exhale,
That way,
Every standing ovation and
     every wound that heals,
Is saturated with the influence of you,
Though you don’t understand,
That baseline you can feel in your chest,
It is your to be proud of too.
For the last time;
Let me refresh your memory..
I was the one who actually cared for you. I was the one who stuck around even when everyone told me to leave. I was the one who loved you even when you gave me every reason not to. Lastly, I was the only one who was there for you when no else does.

her favorite story growing up was peter pan
because she wanted to be like him
she wanted to be fearless she wanted to be a leader
but more important she didn't want to grow up

her world was made of things that didn't exist
her mind was filled with thoughts that didn't belong there

it was never a struggle to be different
it was a fight to fit in.
because maybe I am that girl
Another one walks away,
After promising so many things,
One of them was to stay.
Why am I surprised anyway.
Its 4am, and Ive been having a writer's block lately.
I know i lost you when you stopped saying Goodnight
When the kisses that imprinted my lips felt empty
When i felt less alone when you were gone
I knew i lost you when i saw how you looked at her.
I counted back from ten inside my head
whising you were still laying in my bed

She smiled at the stars like they knew all her darkest secrets
and all the hopeless kids on the street laughed at me
because deep down inside we all knew the universe didn't

Being reckless became a part of my life
somtimes my hair was navy blue and other days it was black
I loved the smell of danger and I liked being afraid

I wish we could start all over again
we would lay down together
surounded by pink flowers and a ***** mind

You could never keep your mouth shut
or say something positive

this boy hated the world and everyone in it
except for me

and thats why I felt like the most special person
in the world whenever I was near him.
my mind is a mess come and join me for some tea.
