Across skies of midnight blue.
You're my wish come true

Contours
niamh Jun 2015
Loving fingers
Trace tenderly
The contours
Of my face.
Touches like
Butterfly's kiss.

Should you lose
Your sight tomorrow,
You will know
Your way home

Poet Rulers
niamh Jun 2015
You've never met me
But you know my soul.
You read my emotion
And offer support.
You feel my heart
And do not judge.

Poets should run the world
I have found nothing but love, support and happiness on this page

niamh Jun 2015
The mystery of history
Is that we keep repeating it.
The madness of sadness
Is that we keep feeding it.

The park in the dark
Is a dangerous place.
I cant help it!
Rhymes put a smile on my face
Feeling a tad giddy this evening ;)

The book
niamh Jun 2015
My life is a book
But I don't know how to class it.
Horror?
Thriller?
Romance?
Each chapter brings something new,
Not necessarily good
But something new.
I couldn't have guessed
The twists and plots
And how things would end up
For the main characters.
All I know is I can't put the book down,
Even when the reading is painful

Death will not part us
niamh Jun 2015
I missed you
In ways,
Immeasurable.
Endless days
Spent
With a heavy heart.

Now I just reach out
To the mirror
And your fingers touch mine.

How can I miss you?
You live on in me

Who knew
niamh May 2015
I hear others
Speak or sing
In foreign languages
And I'm carried away
By my imagination
To deserted beaches
And lovers embraces
Hugs in a downpour
And longing gazes
Hands reaching
And hearts thumping
Eyes meeting across
Steaming coffees
Movie watching
In front of a roaring fire.
I always thought
I was tough as nails.
Turns out I'm a hopeless romantic.
Who knew?
Definitely a romantic at heart :)

Skyscrapers
niamh May 2015
We set out building blocks
Of trust
Love
Honour
Faith
On top of each other
Until they rose into the sky,

But we set them on shaky foundations.

Even the most beautiful of skyscrapers can fall

Eyes
niamh May 2015
Like light striking
Eyes that cannot yet see,
I thought I knew
What it was to love
But then there was you.
A tiny scrap of humanity
With eyes that couldn't see
But ears that knew my heartbeat.

And so I realized
That my eyes
For the first time
Could see.

Drumroll
niamh May 2015
The first rays of watery light
The birds strike up a chorus
And the flowers tilt their faces towards the sky.
Little cherubs in their cots
Roll plump fists over sleepy eyes.
Dreams pack their bags ready to depart
And stars blow kisses towards
An iminent exit.
The world holds its breath
In eager anticipation.
The sun, in all its blazing glory
Announces the dawning of a new day
A day full of hope
A day full of love
A day full
A day.
All that's missing is the drum roll

My little thug
niamh May 2015
She came in a world of pain
Grinding my bones to dust
And setting my body on fire.
Fear and despair
Fighting each other
And waves of nausea
Threatening to knock me down.

And then it was over
and I knew.

I would go through all
The pain again (and more)
If it meant
That I got you.

niamh May 2015
Words and thoughts
ignite in my brain
and flow to my fingers
like an inferno.

Self-loathing
and uncertainty
douse the flames
and leave a blank page.

Emotions rage
against the injustice
and demand
to be set free.

But they're locked
up
tight
and I can't find the key.

Puppetry
niamh May 2015
Much like a puppet on a string,
I let you tell me what to do.
How I moved, what I said,
were all controlled by you.

You painted a smile upon my face
so all who looked who would see
that we lived our lives together,
in perfect harmony.

But wood is not my favourit look
and so I cut the strings.
I wanted to walk all by myself
and longed to spread my wings.

And now the smile's not painted on,
but genuine, warm and true.
I stand up tall on my own two feet
and none of it's down to you

Ugly Beauty
niamh May 2015
Thick grey clouds rolled over
The tall grey buildings.
The stench of despair
Like a creeping mist,
******* happiness
Straight from my soul.
The angry clouds
Birth a raging downpour
And a flower

A burst of colour
In a world of darkness

Grasps the drops
Like a lifeline.
They lie scattered
Like an intricate pattern
Of delicate diamonds
And I'm reminded
There's beauty
In the ugliest of things.

Recognition
niamh May 2015
She stands on
Mountain tops
And screams until her lungs
Beg for mercy.

But her shouts
Are torn to pieces
By careless winds.
And what reaches their ears
Is but a whisper.

She begs, as if from behind
A plate of glass,
But they see a smile
And hear a laugh
For that is what they want.

Will no-one see
Beyond this facade?
