Tell me about your lavender eyes and your vanilla hair.
Tell me about you sandalwood smile and coal black stare.
How does the rain wash away your hatred for other so easily?
But the soft breeze in the summer fuels your fire?

Tell me about your wandering mind and your benevolent heart.
Tell me about your gypsy spirit and harnessed passion.
How does the ocean calm sadness so easily?
But the autumn smell makes you cry in the night?

Can you tell me why it's so easy to fall for you but so hard to make you stay?

you took me
to a lovely garden
long ago,
and told me i was beautiful

you kissed my hair
just as the sun rose
illuminating
the intensity of our lost love

every inch
every crevice of me
loved you
missed you.

you were my infinite stars
cast on the midnight terrain
you lit up the world
just for me

a sweet scent of lavender
permeated through the garden
you said
it was the thousands of lilacs
blooming for me

you kissed my hair
leaving behind
a sweet scent
to caress me

Doors and Death

I'll be laying down
A coffin with etched names in the top
Pressed up against my lifeless, limp body

The shell of me, now spread throughout loved ones hearts
Holding tight to yesterday's memories
Knowing what I left behind
To be carried on

A battle now ended
Was it a surrender or a clear defeat
Busting down my door
It's Death and the Shadows that follow
I wrote this for a competition and also because of certain events happening in my life right now.

Small and fragile
Blooming into the bright light
I want this to be small and fragile
That stays somehow, in the shadows
I don't know how to phrase it
I want it to be untouched and small
Growing into something beautiful
I want it to be infinite
Special,
Just
Like
You…

Sky
Empty

Take me to your sanctuary
For I will
Empty out the skies to keep them within my heart

Falling into the dream
That I've fallen asleep to every night
With Kairi falling higher and higher into those emptied clouds
And I pray that there's still enough left to cushion her fall

Tell her that I'm at the station
My train's come to let me replace
And bleed out the skies so that she can fall asleep to the stars again.

With the starfruit brushing the shores safely before
I wanna line the pieces up, yours and mine.

The music plays and the espresso machines steam and hiss
Feet tap. Fingers type. Phone screens ******.

Skinny lattes and peppermint teas. Soy chai teas extra hot.
Peppermint soy latte. New names for familiar poisons.

Flat whites. Cortados. Espressos and macchiatos.
When I grew up, it was just a cup of coffee…

Hipster coffee shops serving to the hip, the wannabes and the lonely
The woman in the leopard skin coat and the man with acne.

Credit cards are swiped and cash machines ring
The business of poisons is thriving in the city.

You were sealed in a box when I first saw you
I was hesitant to approach you, since you seem far beyond my reach
But the red tea I’m holding don’t excite me anymore
So I tried, though I’m uncertain
Pouring out the hot water, your scent captivated me
I felt your warmth as I held my cup
And when I had that one first sip
Can’t wait to have another and another
So invigorating, so stimulating
Moments with you made me alive again
I wanted another cup of you
But I had to sit back and wait
At least I know, your box is now opened

Tea, the bittersweet companion

Who got me through my classes

And past late-night assignments

Tea, the reason my teeth are stained

And the reason why I'm sane

It was the bitterness of black tea

That took a course through my body

And shut off every racking nerve

Fiber that couldn't keep calm

Tea, my equivalent to a therapist

Who left a mark so clearly that

People will swear it's because

I have poor dental hygiene

Quiet mind, immersed
in palest, warmest yellow.

Molecules within
find alignment
with infinity.

Silvery mercurial fluid
paints my bones
with gentle light.

You have come back.

Abundantly, warm salt
water envelopes me.

Even in this chair,
in this empty room.

On dry land.
