rocky mountains man
mark john junor Sep 2013
he came down out of the mountains
came down out of the deity halls
of the mighty rocky mountains
riding a pale horse
with a gun in his hand
young to the eye
but his truth is miles of darkness
that few souls would dare

he came into the ***** town
and stepped into the waterin hole
with a wary eye
the crowd there was too involved in the
young ***** on the stage
in her various stages of undress
in the various stages of her futile demise
they are all dying down here in the flatland's
some kind souls try and stem the tide
but most just seek to sate thirsts before
they go to the valley of death below

he waited for the songs all to fade away
he waited for the hungry crowd to seek another meal
and then he came to her
then he walked into her narrow visions
he knew she would come
knew she had nothing left here
but the empty valley of death below
he tossed the barman
thirty pieces of silver
and romanced the petals
of her minds soft flower
soft so kind and convincing
to her unwilling ear

she finally could no longer resist
she scummed to the fever
and he picked her up
carried her to his steed
rode slowly out of town
not a soul saw him
not a soul cared
on up into the mighty rockies
he rode with her still form in his arms
into the bitter cold
and long night
an outlaw
of the highest order
one who has thieved from the kingdom below
down in the valley of death below

heart shaped wishes
mark john junor Oct 2014
she moves sleepy-headed in the bed next to me
and in the stillness of the mornings dim light
her hand finds its way across my chest and like an idle dancer spins
nonchalant circles of heart shaped wishes on my skin
her lips draw next to my ear and
with a soft wet sound give a tender
lesson in the beauties of her naughty delights
the first tentative kiss in the tempest of her seductions

she wraps herself up in my arms
a gift to own darker delights
and caresses my eyes with her own
the soft texture of her gaze thick with passions and desires
deep with her heart touching mine
and in that gaze i feel her soul moving as one with mine
as our kisses melt us

she pleads with her hands all along my face
and down along my body
she begs and teases the flickering desires
of our heat that rise like the fires of a thousand suns
and with delighted sounds from deep within her
as she explores and plunders
as we dance in the tangled sheets
she finds again the desires that go hand in hand
with her hearts loves
that go hand in hand with her hearts dreams

timeless times later
as we lay entwined in the afterglow of our love's hot tempest
and with such a tender and timid voice looking deep into my eyes
tells me she loves me and no other
i brush back the strand of hair that
has fallen to her sweat bound brow
and kissing her gently
tell her that i too love her and no other

this is no ordinary love affair
this is one soul romancing another with every carnal delight
with every souls true treasure of loving embrace
this is passion
she is my dreadlock princess
i am her poet in shining armor
this is how love was meant to be
(i wrote this a while back)

the quiet place where i write
breeze swept field and shade tree
in the distance mighty towers
construct of hammers and hands
down by the ocean and its mighty ships
the scent of open water stirs the soul

this quiet place
where my heart builds little worlds
magnificent noble creatures come to wrestle
with a deeper sea of dreams
this quiet place where
innocence still laughs undaunted by the world
when my pen can speak its heart
unchallenged by the weary day

this strange place my heart goes to put pen to page
a place of memories both real and wished
a place where all could have been and was
this quiet place
crepe paper constructions of grand dreams
christmas tree tinsel lions chasing dawns wicked approach
where innocence still has the heart
to take joy

a simple song from the heart
a soft turn of hearts silently spoken phrase
that brings the soul back to yesterday
when rich sunlight fell in quiet afternoon
came to rest soft as butterfly kiss on her cheek
and you saw all the wonders of the world in her eyes
saw the one heart one soul one body as you taught eachother the
song from the heart
like the lovely inspirations of dawns mist
on the still waters
that mystical connections
like when you hear your name on her lips
deeper than words
deep as the moment you see her heart in her eyes
and you soar in the beautiful winds you find there
you burn brightly enduring like the home you find there
like you were born to be in her arms
your destiny by her side
written in the magical inks on the limbs of angels
spreading the dawn light like wings upon the edge of the world
she is your song
a song that speaks with what your heart feels
a simple song from the heart
she waits for you there at waters edge
as dawn breaks on springs sweet tides
barefoot and softly free
sweet lover with your name on her lips
like a simple song from the heart

smoke and fire
mark john junor May 2014
the smoke spurned the fire and rose to flee
but she approached with her own deeper heat
like oil and water her thoughts and dreams
burn with a sinister hue
a thousand colors to her movement's
and each one blurs the lines of reality in the watchers mind
each one like an ocean in which
the unwary could drown

the nights difficult song twisted on
the dulled edges of her words laid with such cunning care
as she convinced him to stay
against his better steel eyed judgements
he did not hear the lock click into place behind
did not sense the ink drying on his fate
and still i sat there mesmerized by the nights song
and how familiar it was to my soul
one more round and let us toast vanity

her sister is perfections rose
and bathed in the soft nights otherworldly glow
beauty clings to her edges like acolytes
come to discover the secrets entwined
come seeing roads in the shadow
the two sisters separated by more than mere miles
separated by a lover they once shared
the bitter sister claimed
and the fair sister fled

he lay in the ruins
a carved stone in the midst of polished jewels
and i could not help him
i had discovered the nights song
and would never see daylight again
smoke had spurned fires embraces
rising to flee with thoughts to find some new life
she sells these dreams
a luxury in these lean days

definition of sublime
mark john junor Apr 2014
she steps out of pure moonlight
and she is just as magical as the night
her words give their love to me
she is sublime when she smiles
she renews me with the artwork of her mind
she heals me with the artwork of her gentle heart
everything to me
in a simple cotton t-shirt and hair in a ponytail

she walks the waters raining
and her soft skin is warm against my cheek
sheltering me and comforting me
she stands at the gates of the worlds confusions
the last sane voice
she stands at the furnace of creation
dips in one graceful hand creating masterpieces of the soul
she stands at oceans edge
the last breathing image of true beauty
she stands next to me

and i know that things will be allright
because she is a titan among the stars
because she is the hearts allure
spun out of the silks and lace of caring
spun with the true hearts threads
a creation of exquisiteness
in a cotton t-shirt and jeans

she steps out of moonlight
bringing with her
worlds to live in
lives to be lived
because she is the gift of light and life to me
just as magical as the night
as i lay dreaming of her
mark john junor May 2013
and the day ends at last
as we close our door to the
leaving of our last
drunken friend happy on his way home
sweep away the wine glasses
and put up the remnants of our feast
our friends left their loves
all around us
and that warms our souls
and the springtime night
all round us
turn up the sheets and lets escape
into eachother
into your sweet arms

i will wake tommorow
and will live again in your smile
and i will breath again in your laugh

but tonight lets just watch
that movie we like
and make love
drift off
in the middle of the night
not a worry to be found
not a thing stands in our way

and she whispers to me
tomorrow is almost here lover
and i will find it in your arms
i will find all my tomorrows in your arms
in her arms

is the contrast between the woman i see
and the woman loved so great an abyss
isnt the very nature of her tenderness in her soft eyes
in the simple sweet curve of her sleepy smile on a summer morning
isnt it in her words passionately whispered in the sheets
and the softer still words she leaves on my ear as we fall asleep after
i tell you
that this image
is love
because it is her
dedicated to a girl named May...whos beauty was is heartstopping

the hallway painted green
sizzles in midsummer heat
i look down the descending stairs
to the sounds of her fighting with boyfriend vinnie
her loose shirt clings to her lean body
her hair a warm brown tangled in a ponytail
pieces of it cling to her sweat soaked skin
i reach down and gently run my hand along her cheek
she looks at me
then at my girlfriends closed door and she kisses me
i lean into her kiss with a lustful passion
we cling to one another in a moment of stolen loves
late that night she comes down the street
standing beneath my window calls my name
it sounds like beauty
it sounds like a gift

your hearts door
mark john junor Dec 2015
in nightfall's grey hour
look intently into the reflection
peer into the face looking back at me
trying to find the flaw in the heart of that stranger i see
seeking to mend what cannot be
if you look within you will never see
what is and what should be

rain infects the last of the daylight
and i walk out into it raise my face to the heavens
cleanse the soul of guilt and pain
from the evil that you refrained
from deed that would have stained
if you look within to see broken dreams that have remained
look within will leave you insane

night has come
darkness will hide you
tears will obscure
what you really should be living for
light kiss upon the tender thought before
and you will find what love really is to your core
mend this heartache you dream to see what is in store
there is a tender true love that awaits for
you to open your hearts door

poem song
mark john junor Feb 2016
her heaven interrupted
she waits there by the wooden door
burned into its crispy surface is a poem aimed at her heart
a poem in the form of a image
a graceful piece illustrated to the minds eye
a flowing of words and thought that only
a great painter could put to canvas
it was of a love she knew many years ago
it was a autumn affair
dry leaves had scattered under her soft shoe walk
and the boy had taken her hand and then
had taken her
only to fade into memory by the first frost
the wind chimes in the semi-darkness remind her of that day
sounding clearly like a soft summer song
to her young and vibrant heart
sounding like trumpets hailing the coming
of some grand and great prince
head held high
with the purest of intents
yes those chimes sound so alive to her
brings back so many memories
of her young and willing heart
these many years later
she has only the barest scrap of paper
with his name still legible
faded but bold
bold like he was
like he was
now the years have told their tale
and her eyes loose focus
as her dreams once more turn to those heady days
of her young heart
as she slips into a final slumber
she dreams of him
and the poem song of her love for him

Our home once so warm and comforting
our home once so safe and filled with laughter
has grown dark and cold since you vanished
into the winter night

i stand here at the window searching
for some sing of you
but only the whisper of mocking cold wind greets me
i know i must follow you
track you thru the beast of blizzard
into the fires of unforgiving underworlds

Hours now
and my footsteps drag as bitter cold bites into my will
thru trackless ages of snowbound darkness
following your weary trail

where have you gone lover
why do you linger there
i have come to bring you home
our happy home

I will take but a moments rest here
beneath this once green tree
and take but a moment to recover my strength
take a moment to sleep in the cold blanket of snow

now that spring will come
to wrap my bones in green blanket
and speed my soul to the shores of distant land
i will dream of you lover
where did you go
why linger so long

handbill in a summer brezze
mark john junor Apr 2014
a warm breeze walks a handbill
up the empty street
from the show which had been
on the outskirts of town
all lights and fury far into the cool night
just a dusty track now fading out
just taffy wrappers and dime fortune teller cards
leading away
into the mornings highways memories
just photographs of awkward smiles
and plastic dolls won as a prize

she came through town that way
some years ago
and she had caught your imagination
and your heart
in a velvet dress she bid people come
to the edge of town to see the wonders
to see the might of the weak man
see the small heart of the big man
come see the wonders of the wide mysterious world
seven wonders for seven cents
she was a pretty thing
that you would think to see
in the finest company
with the prettiest jewels

but you would see her at the end of the show
her hair let down and flowing like a thick dream
prettiest you've ever seen
with the weak man in her arms
the kind if lovin grace to her eyes
just then you couldn't find the heart to disturb them
with your questions and camera
so you let her go
just to be one of thouse memories
that the highway holds dear
places far away
people strange and true
of the worlds prettiest girl
and the worlds weakest lucky man
(i sold t-shirts (as an independent) at several carnival shows, and got to know several carnies...especially one girl in particular who took care of horses, she will always have a special place in my heart)

you are the mystery that i unfold in a rapture of hope

i breath your words
like i hope that that by bringing them back will bring your return
but they have fallen beautiful but broken to the floor
and lay lifeless in the darkening room

I dance in the moonlight alone
hands held to where you would be
mimic the moment we shared
benith that star filled sky so long ago
as if to say that no other can ever fill my arms
or life like you

i breath you
and it leaves me so empty

late day sunshine
warmly scattered over us
and stirred imagination
revealed sweeter than summer  dreams
my heart lived a song for her alone
rising and flying on each note that
passed between us while we made love under the tree
shared between us without a word
lost in every sense of eachother
magically as one heart one dream
drowned and brought back to life again in the
beauty of touching with such
powerful passions and the heart's lusts
late day sunshine scattered warmly over us
weaving into our memories forever that moment shared
that beautiful place in ones life where we
touched life's perfect union body and soul
the matching heartbeats rhythm
two young lovers finding deep universes in eachothers eyes
laughing sweetly holding hands in that forever moment
that is cherished a lifetime later
late day sunshine slipping away
but the memory will stay with me forever my love

covering the senses thick with trepidation

with dry lips
her hand brushing her hair back constantly
like a nervous tick
you can taste the miles traveled in her eyes
her ragged breathing comes close to me
nestles in my ear
and makes my thoughts twist

i lean into the hard plaster wall
the chipped paint ***** with fingerprints
my heart hanging on the nail deeply driven into it
cluster of imperfections surrounding

template of the hearts crying rage

but the rusty deadpan song is only replayed
my fingers stiffly crawl against the lewd and angry wall
picture perfect painted there is my only care
release me from this moment ever present in my heart
tombstone and funeral cart scented with roses
once reclined in september sunshine
this twisting darkness is mine

barren eyes broken
lifeless words spoken
sequel to minds crashing inner thunder
burst into tears like a misbegotten blunder
trembling fingers expose
hearts rose entwined with darkness
once bright days shown in memory
when dark wind has blown it to dust

this face i paint with dark words
this sketch with miseries taint
this is where dreams have left me
deft fingers draw new hopes on dying page
years spent gazing into hearts fertile soil
only to have deepest dreams foiled
dry not the tears long ago fallen
hear the song dry wicked grey calling

when you get heard without having to scream it

into a slow graceful climb into the light
nothing disturbs the symmetry of the moment
as they all follow that one upwards
on his desperate fight for
that shaft of sunlight before the
rapture of movement dissipates

waving our hello's to neighbor and a few
we lived our smiles
and it did let our souls breath
breath it in deep breath in the worlds beauties
and her hand in mine felt so natural so real
just set the rising sun to the sea of my dreams
felt so natural so real

she lead me into the old town
to this little place where the old woman welcomes
you to her table an feed you a feast
sit and tell the worlds tale
and we lived her smile too
felt so natural so real
the hour grew late
and she passed us the keys to the worlds dream
so we went wanderin under a sea of stars
hand in hand with my true love
just so as they say we lived our smiles
set the rising sun to my sea of dreams

we walked all the way to the beach and back again
so my love lead me once more
this time to our safe harbor of our bed
and we lay entwined and deep with eachother
we lived our smiles once more
felt so natural so real
and just as i drifted to slumbers
i kissed each trinket and bauble woven in her hair
one for her one for me
we lived our smiles on a sea of dreams

so he must repeat till he learns the golden rule
there are no rules just fancy ways to cheat

my arms full of gifts of yesterdays funeral pyre
and a head full of dreams of her

each had despair written in invisible illustration
but i couldn't leave her that way
i had to help her
no matter the cost
money is clean if the heart is pure to the intent
sweet paradise can be if your in the right state of mind
she came down to the store
and with smiles in her hand
she shook me loose from my apologies
and with a grin she started to dance
with a grin she gave up the darkness
and in the night i found my voice
and so the flames of my words found the lovin dawn
turn to the darkness no more fair child
is what i said to her
no matter the cost
dance in the light

perhaps it was his love for
the salt and the sea
perhaps upon the desert of waves
he awaited a vision to awaken his dreaming heart
some beautiful illusion
spoken aloud by a drunken bard
let loose his devilishly smooth voice
in the small hours of night...
she was there too
with her loose skin revealed...
she will be tainted by his warm breath
she will bear its teethmarks with voiceless pride
till the end of her days
it was his hot blooded passion spilling its
cruel seed upon her
and she smiled like a young nymph
displayed her shameful state like a peacock strutting
like a wild animal rutting...
except in the night where she held it near her lonely heart
a single dim light in her dark world
she is his love of life incarnate
she is his lust uncluttered by romance
all hot hands groping for pleasures given and received
she is a lean warm soft creature of night
that slips away to sleep
and yet dream still
of his warmth upon her shoulder

im flipping the pages of my day
laughing with new friends
and there is that place
that piece of wood
with a nothing whisper of a stream
lookin up the hill
wykagyl golf course
by the 8th
and it all came back
all my long lost friends not seen in forever
were right here with me

but it isnt my home
its a place far away
trick of the eye
trick of an old mans fading memory's
but thats ok
it was nice to visit
that piece of woods
with its nothing whisper of a stream
thanks to a fellow poet madison, for letting me go home for a moment.

her
we left london by train
headed north
into a chill english winter day
her grey coat and proper hat
buttoned up neatly
such a beautiful woman
and i marvel that shes mine
reach out and touch her lips with
one finger
trace the line of her chin
lean in and kiss her hard
with the passion i feel
the depth and force of my love for her
so intense its hot inside my chest
its like sudden flame in my heart
and she pushes into me
giving herself to it
giving herself to me
i can smell the scent of her perfume
feel the course texture of her coat
feel the train moving
but thats all distant like a dream
the only thing real to me
is her in my arms
is her filling my senses
my lover
my everything

of the wonders the world has shown me
sunsets on the open sea
sunrise on the vast silence of desert
slip into the hearts song
hear the universes true vision
finally see what i have spent
a life's age seeking
I see it in your eyes my love
iv sailed seas
walked deserts
climbed mountains
travelled my share of road
I'm home at last in your arms
I'm home at last in your heart
lay with me lover
let me swim in your mind
run in your heart

river road madien

a smoke filled room
in one of  New Orleans low wards
the kind of place that can change you
in a moment
and leave you dreamin about a face
that you saw in a moment
in the dark light
a face that had her voice
a face that held a world of promises
and held a heart full of sunshine's love

the smoke filled room is still there
you return to it each night
drink yourself stupid trying
to recapture that moment
recapture that face
that voice
that love
but shes gone

disappeared that night
down the road in the pouring rain
down to the factory's that never sleep
to the river road
where the small ships and the great liners
embark for points distant
for places that you cant even pronounce

and that's where she has gone
like a cloud
she drifted away
that smoke filled room is still there
and so are you every night
praying someday she will return
and every day
you labor on the river
fishing for hope
in the dark waters
of despair

down on the river road
the old men gather
to tell their tales
of sea fairing
and of deep waters dream
but river men have their own tales to tell
of mysterious women dressed
all in black luring men to watery death
in backwater or bay
so is it for naught you waited
all these years
perhaps instead of being punished
you are being spared
a watery grave in backwater or bay

how did i breath before i knew you
how is it possible that i existed before you were here
fill my senses with everything you
that smile that is a summer day unleashed for me alone
the way you brush back that dreadlock from your eyes
the way i can feel you with every inch of my bare skin
from ten feet away
the way you taste on my lips
how did i think, breath, exist before you found me
you are a waking dream
its in the way you walk
its in that brilliant light in your soft brown eyes
its in the beads woven into your dreads
its in your ****** rings
i lived in a cold dark mountain world
full of sinister people
you saved me in every way
i was not alive till there was you
i did not exist till there was you

medicinal pieces
mark john junor Sep 2013
the right eye cant see the left side
so  it don't exist so it reasons
and taking that logic to its conclusion
you roll down to your job and chop up
your desk into a million medicinal pieces
swallow it all now
its good for you to consume the things that make up who you
used to be

can i get sick on  you
she asks with a small smile
it'll be warm and comforting
but think that'd be pretty bad
and you get on down the road before she can sing that song
you come across a confused minstrel
who is sitting in the crossroads crying
at his dying profession
till you remind him that even bobby dylan is still humming
someplace in the back rooms of
earthly heaven

skip and sing thru the nights darkness
and stand up and belt one out for the ***** girls
and their glory days
and the comforts they gave to you
all kinds of warm and giving
alright
ride the waves on the east sea
slow and easy like you are ten years younger
like you are million dollars richer
cause you and i know that you only live once
and you might as well smile smile smile
as good ole jerry said
and wouldn't ya know that some old
cold hand would try and take that away too

so easy on it baby
easy on that gear
it'll be alright till first light
we will be ok

sunshine and the bicycle move as one
threading a narrow path among the leaves
fast as wind light as feather
the asphalt flows underneath me
pushing me forward and further
past yet another sequence of streets
past yet another world for me to glimpse
leaving me as young as the man i used to be
filled with the promise of what i will never have
sketch the tale in my heart as the miles melt behind
fair haired and overflowing with joys unabated
that is what i could see from my seated adventure
faster and faster on my shiny machine
leaving behind the people and places of the past
looking forever for that bright future
in the palm of my hand

this poem is an open grave
this poem filled with my pain
and a thousand souls will rush forward
wanting to know this particular pain
wanting this scar on their own soul
the poem will speak to you in a voice so sweet
and you will want to know the world that spawned such
a lovely creature...one that could understand your particular pain
they will chase a vision of who you are to be to them
and your mind of dirt or dust will grind on
and your loneliness is not eased
your tears still sting like knives on your soul
i would give you all i have
all i have ever had
to just hold you in my arms
and be free to cry with you

starry eyed dreamers once caged
by the limits of their lives
push past the fences the world erects
and with their devotions to the freedom
of the heart they paint with lenses the
worlds kittens and cream hidden
in the burnt out shells of cars in a field

and the lost can always be found
by the banks of the rivers dream
with tents shielding from the overripe summer sun
and transistor radios churning out
a tin mans version of stairway to heaven
while the poor girls knit socks the rough boys wrestle
and there's catfish on the fire
for the all night feast

grown accustom to the light hand
and comfortable bed
easy to forgery a smile when the soul is corrupt
she says long as you don't linger where you cash it in
the living is easy long as its another's life
she winks easy as her hand slides like jelly down towards my pocket
but iv done the road and asphalt make bad bedfellows
so i push off serenity and her neon mile dream
push onwards to a place in a sun
river faces and clockwork planes overhead
by the setting sun
and cool sea

in the forever of waiting
in this silent place where darkness has hold
in this palace of night bound dreams
where i lay in the stillness of inky shadow
waiting on the beauty of dawn
for its glories and its forgiving light
but it seems like it will never come...
there are just shadows of night
passing slowly in austere grandeur and eloquence
shadows of night that speak silent languages of the road
speak to me of places forgotten with strangers faces
of roads traveled as consequence of misgivings
but all that is just shadows of night
that speak to me silently...
i wait in this palace of distant voices
they whisper the promise of secrets yet untold
they promise to uncover all delights
expose to sight all the things the heart desires
waiting for the dawn
and its beautiful light
waiting for loves tenderest kiss
waiting for my life to begin

headlights stream by
her head rests on my shoulder
her skin sets my soul on fire
she is everything to me

the long road unwinds
parking lots with just one figure making quick pace
for the nearest exit
none will romance the summer night there ever again
in the long night
closed stores and rows of motionless carts
gone now behind us along a fast highway
we three cast aside all the wares and
all the mementos of yesterday
and swore an oath to celebrate only hope

she slumbers next to me
her skin sets my soul on fire
she is heaven to me
as the flicker of headlights stream past
her dreams are plain to me

turning on the breeze
caught in the back winds of change that has no future
just an endless loop of change for the hope of something better
never to see fruit
never to grow beyond the seed of love in her eye
is not a life she can bear anymore

she slumbers next to me
her skin sets my soul on fire
she is lust and love
mystery and longing
as the flicker of headlights stream past

the years draw down
and as the wood bends and twists in the weather
as the the grass grows and fades to brown and back again
the house stands quiet
as if waiting for the days to return
where laughter echoed in its corners
where love thrived in its warm places
we will never return to this place
the house turns to grey and fades

as the the the thoughts move
into  memory like a single candle in a window
meant to call home a long missing loved one
where have they gone
where is our home to be now they are gone

the song now robust
dances beyond me and her fleet foot
cannot keep the time
she casts a worried eye
but we can not repair the broken
we tend to the wounds but they must mend themselves
we can only love

we must leave the song player to his tale
we must see to our future
we must love each other
since none see us as we see them

we must leave the song player
to his complex fingers
and his wishes that we linger
and as the wood bends and twists in the weather
as the the grass grows and fades to brown and back again
as the years will unfold and show
we were right to leave such a place
to seek a life in the sun

fragments

fondly the fragments of childhood memory gathered
a smile so decorated with sweet sunshine of summer day
a carefree moment of pure abandon
where the world seemed endless
where possibility boundless
seems so far away from the bed you lay in
its night in this moment of your remembering
but you can still feel the sun on your face
still taste the sweetness of the breeze
can you imagine where those days have gone
can you believe in the magic as you did so long ago
can you pause in all this getting old
to live once more in the summer moment
breath the magic
live the day
take a chance and believe
that your heart can still be young
that the world is still beautiful in its way
that there are still rainbows to chase

rose's untouched lips
mark john junor Nov 2013
she looked out at me
from across her bleak miles
with a question talking rapidly in her eye
its dark center a pool of poets ink
with some kind of pencil she had drawn a line
sculpting the edge of her sight
with the unresolved love and tears that
had found their way to the world from here
i place my finger across her untouched lips
bridging the desires
and the cautions
until in her arms i found the place where
the we balanced the thought and the desires
she laughs
and peeks at me from the years
and i think how am i supposed to get any writing done
nuance in the moonlight
we tangle eachother in the sheets
kiss eachother in every way to be kissed
and laugh at eachothers mumbling pokes
nobody is an expert at love
but shes near nuff for me
she makes me feel wonderful
from the bottom of my tired feet to
the top of my dizzy head
rose
your beyond the sun to me
your waiting for me on the sun baked beach
your waiting for the dawn in my arms
your right here in my thoughts
your a thousand thousand miles away

lay with wolves

her smile was
worn down by the road
and it seemed to her nothing could
lift her spirit
nothing could lift the storm from her brow

and you can feel the soft leather of his boot echo on down the hall
as he steps into the story
and there no joy to be had
there's no place to hide from this face of you

she had thought to
escape into the vast desert of the pages of history
lost to track or trace but
she knew someone would come for her
like a derelict pantomime of a gunslinger
both barrels hot to the touch cold to the eye

he came in to the busy room
and caught her eye
like a morning dove catching the first ray of sunlight
beautiful was the moment in her heart
beautiful in her mind
he was slick and neatly appointed from
his dark brown hat dipped to cover one dark eye
to his boots of spanish leather
that made a hollow sound in the sudden silence

a hush had fallen on the awed gathering
they had heard of men like him
coming up north out the wild country
coming up looking for fortune and fame
with the gun and the deck of cards
but they had never seen such a creature up close
and you could smell the fear
in every man
but you could taste the barely muted desires
in every woman there

the next day at the break of day
she lay with him
a gentle place in her heart had opened
she felt hope
she felt a coolness in the hot breeze
a rose had grown and there was no denying it
like a force of nature
like a tower never breached

and so it lay
a rose so sweet
on the breaker of the changing tides
waiting for sunrise
laying with one of the wolves
she had changed him
woman is a force of nature
that no man can understand
and no man can resist

He was a Hero
mark john junor Apr 2024
Heroes wear all kinds of uniforms,
and call many places home,
but standing the line for Democracy
they are all just as tall and just as brave

Who was this man
who ventured to a distant land
to defend it from an invader
they are not his people
this was not his home
but he stood the line for Democracy
he stood the line proud and tall
and died

He was my Brother
He was my Father
He was my Friend
He was a good man
He stood the line for Democracy

his rustic way
the easy as they come grin
the soft shine in a hard land
had a gift in his brotherly manner
it was vulture's way
the name didn't fit the man but few do
he was a kind soul
always had time to mend fences
had time to build bridges
and the boy could dance
look at him go in the firelight
while the music sang softly
always thought he was most at home
sharing a meal and the comforts of conversation
few knew him as well as I
spent years chasing dawns early light with my friend
laughing and carrying on like two kids
it was vulture's way
last time ever laid eyes on him
he was laughing and talking with some fine young girl
just as natural as can be
a true hippie
relaxed and at ease with the world
he died later that spring
but to me he will always be alive
in summer breeze and moonlight
watch him dance and shake thous old bones
my good friend will always be there
in every smile i ever see

rainswept morning leaves me
in a soul deep stillness
where my mind wanders the reflections of my heart
the sorrows that held me captive
the dreams that set me free
the hopes that i cling to when darkness threatens
the love that sustains me

the rainswept morning
full of winters shadow displaced by
the last vestiges of summers warmth
the fall colors washed out and dulled by the grey skies
my mood melancholy as the day

the remainder of photographs litter the
wooden floor where she had sat in blue lace perfection
flawless and lovely
where she had with delicate beauty been legendary
while speaking in her silver screen dreamy voice
had created creatures to cavort from thin air
she had taken ashes and made worlds i could only dream of
i now regret this room and all that it could have spoken to me
but now cannot

shadows of yesterday on the transitory sands
of this strange paradise
within these blurred images
are the places in the soul where
grey dust gathers as a parched illustration of times passage
an image of abnormal life lived vicarious
hands i only dreamt of holding
smiles i only wished to share

beheld by the timid heart with hopeful intent
any life seems both bold and beautiful
seems to be the essence of perfection
desirable and meant to be bound up with true loves gifts
but such dreams are fleeting and swiftly abandon the dreamer
leaving the coarse and the cold reality's behind
but there is the crux of it
can the dream survive the dreamer waking
can the dream stand strong in the walking worlds light of day
when i held her as that dreamer i knew her
when i awoke her beauty still filled me
when i awoke my love for her overflowed my heart
such dreams heal our souls
such dreams give life meaning
i beheld with my timid heart a beautiful dream
and when i awoke that dream was alive
and kissed me
now my heart is bold
now i live
