You are a novice to this
Earth bound seedling
stubborn headed leading
Take the darkness and
wrap it around you
a cold shawl
retreating you
with the eyes of
mother moon upon you
You budding you
in full view
Every gaze like the Sun
You come full bloom
and hold the days
living from heart
Bloom baby bloom
Tanisha Jackland Feb 2017
They said my love
would unravel you
then like cat's nip
would make you
chase me forever
Tanisha Jackland May 2016
She is doubtful for the
reason of the sky
the dark gather of clouds
filled with ghosts and rain

The heart is where the bleeding
Starts then trickles down her legs
These are the days
of the betrayal

When force becomes mightier
Than the need for beauty
When blood is spilt for a laugh
Like the eyes are not crevices for the soul

She is doubtful for the
reason of the sky
then lip-syncs to the future
of our demise
Tanisha Jackland Feb 2022
It is good to have
open ears
how else would you
hear the sound of God
moving
thru all things

live gently and
walk as if your
feet have
wings...
Tanisha Jackland Jan 2022
After it all
I’ll be sitting by
The cello moon
Under a sprinkle
Of stars
I’ll be steady waxing the tides
And waning your cries
Licking ambrosian tears of
Salt and honey
from your cheeks
We could be
gravity in the living flesh
you and me
the sun a bitter remedy
We are all mending
taking turns being gods
Tanisha Jackland Apr 2020
It's not what you would die for
that has greater meaning
it's what you would live for that makes
it all seem timeless and worthwhile
Tanisha Jackland Apr 2016
There are moments
i want to soak you in
seeing the gesture
of your pen while
it wails across
the static void.

i would be there to tend
your wounds but mine fester
longer
the blood-letting go...

i could
lick what makes
you flutter...

but
i cannot undo
what's due you
but
you could...

It's a balancing act.
We are kidding ourselves
if we don't accept it
and respect it.

America’s shadow
is projected
all over the Globe
and its not healthy
it is a sick child
waiting to be freed

but we repressed it
For far too long that now it
Is running the world

But not without
Demonizing it first
For it is
our deeper selves
out of balance
and a hero to most

Means freedom
For us to gather
as a collective
to heal ourselves
and to remain true

There must be light
For those who seek the
warm wisdom of the dawn

And there must be dark
For those who seek
to rest and heal
from its cool
effervescent shade

the balance of the
world will be shown
with love and simple
kindness

It all depends on you

Summer is wasted
on the young and
the restless
women go bare-armed
on a mission to prove
their youthful 'glow'
in floral painted dresses
that scream
"I'm pretty!"
And I sit in idleness
wondering when
Mother Nature
will make Her final move
I hate the heat of Summer.
Tanisha Jackland Jul 2018
There is something
holy about you
wild as the flowers
growing in a mad
scheme of colors

You plummeted
from the sky
the forbidden fruit
dark and ripe already

afterwards,
a lone man even
offered to wash
your feet

then
left you a single kiss
as a sacrament
on your cheek
Holy men...

Cameras 📷 make
us vain
make us flat
2D imitations
of ourselves
Not too deep
one liners
hogging the awkward stage
finding the right
angle to show and tell
glutton for your eyes
we binge on selfies
like eating a never
ending cake
we post like
we are not in hell
stuffing
our faces but
still
hungry

Whenever you are
with me

my hair
dances on
my skin

slipstreams
on surface

I glide over you
the shock electric

you fill me
with ghosts

completed
you fit in

You are the true
element in me

Keeping me
stable

Too sum up my life

in one all consuming paragraph

would be giving birth

without the joys of

morning sickness or

the wretching

God knows how much I have wretched

on pages and pages of books

and notes and poems

very similar to this one

I have been deflated and

defeated by those who

hate at will

but most importantly I have been

given a life worth resuscitating every

now and then

This may well be the closing

paragraph of my life but never

the final chapter
It ain't over til the Fat lady sings...um that would be me.

She built big and pretty
Got those wild ***** locs
Driving coils in her spring
She make what she got good
and plenty of it because
she know she comes from an old
divinity and in her roots
Come raging like a God with ashy skin
But she clean and got nature
on her side
and the cocoa butter smells real nice
She is the salt
the earth, the storms and as sacred as
the wind
Remember this always...always

Gone
the sky is broken
I feel the years
of empty moments
in my blood

Stay
you are open
and I want to kiss
the rain when it hits
on your cheeks

Touch me

I am subdued
in your presence
eager to fulfill the
selfish prophecy of
licking you
then
serving you with
*perfect lips

Nights are for
lullabies and the lonely
for naked moons
and spaceships
that hover then
disappear at a glance
the night is for
the learned
going inward
to soul force
It's exhilarating
to be in a world
without knowing what
will come next
for the night is
filled with ghosts
and the peace of growth
but most of all the night
brings us to be
ourselves free...
Tanisha Jackland May 2019
I am a shapeshifter
a chameleon of
this world

I am forbidden
and sweet
an illusion
you've tasted
many times

I am the nerve of
your thoughts
unseen
on the billow
of impermanent
clouds...

'The Sibyl, with frenzied mouth
uttering things not to be laughed at,
unadorned and unperfumed, yet
reaches to a thousand years with her
voice by aid of the god.'  (Heraclitus, fragment 12)

She curves into touches like neurosis
beyond the threshold of insanity
breeding desire into a lovely oddity

She mends the lie in facades to
empty them into our secrecy

With a banshee's throat
she splinters time's agonies
into the likeness of what
we ordered and
brings solitude to morning's arms.

She is of Sibyls.

Bold women who once dreamt
in ambiguous shadows and
lucent prophecies.

When given an opportunity
to set things right
you run in the opposite
direction towards the further
demise of your fellow man
You cannot blame it on the water
You cannot blame it on the moon
For it is not the fault
from the revolt
of the slaves you hand picked
It is you
held accountable for nothing
eating the cake too
but something will not sit right
in your soul until you with
a blink of an eye
give of yourself
completely to what is true
To delve into whats left of
your heart and restart
what was bought and sold in you
It is time.
Tanisha Jackland Apr 2016
You are tragedy and lust-
Breaking thru time
with words
like Beethoven and sound-

You ride the sacral flux-
The **** dripping
from those syntactical teases
and i swallowed them up-

You are black brooding
badness to my sinless sun-filled
days and i want in.
Yep.
Tanisha Jackland Oct 2019
They say my black
is not pretty
as if my hair is
not the color of the
night that holds
the moon in
all her silvery glory
as if dark
doesn't heal
the wounds of an
oppressive Sun
as if my eyes
aren't deep enough
to capture
a kaliedoscope of colors
as if my skin
doesn't glow
luminescent
soft enough to
inspire you to sleep
to dream up another world
with my wings
an opulent black
like a mirror reflecting
the whole wide world.

He played me
like a 3-chord riff
Old Johnny boy
Kiss the girls and
told every one of them
she was the one

I needed to believe him
black Johnny
with his slick honey tongue
talking and come singing like he
was a charmed cello box
build good bridges Johnny
you never know
when you'll need them

He spoke to me in runes
casted a spell on me
with his lips
then saved my broken pieces
for last
Good night Johnny
Enchanter of the song
bring me your candy even
if I'm wrong

I get so lost from you

daydreaming of revenge

on wolves who'd prey

on you

or how the

syrup from your lips

keeps me so drunk

I get enravelled

in the flesh

that I lose some of you

each time I bring the glory

to myself

So I try to daydream of roses

they are safe it's wise to say

for they will not lead

me away from you

towards the brimstone

and decay

Here I am again
trying to keep from sinking
but I am the dead weight
recollection of heavy bones

I try to pull it
out of me the black rays
feeding inside me
caged and reeling

a wounded raven
I dream of somewhere
beyond my reach
then I let the core flutter

Ghosts of mortal consciousness
plague those of us
who presume dying is for the dead
While the lack of depth
dominant in breath
ensures the weary bones
of our deception
Tanisha Jackland Feb 2017
Just imagine
a world without us

There'd be no
dance like our dance
urgent and rhythmic
the kind that rages
in your blood
No we can't do
nothing about that

But the talent of us
be boundless
be most avenues
in every fashion

We are bared down to a
bitter naked song
and still dazzling
more brilliant than any light

We fought and we won
and there ain't nothing
like a ravenous being with
an aged-old soul
Black people

the brine

Is such a strong word
but I'm left with perplexed, really.
Seems like it's more like puzzling.
No. More like an animosity.
That's it. It's stewing animosity.
Um. It's definitely a loathing.
I don't understand these feelings.
Like you I don't understand
the contempt. Only that you placed
it there. Made a monster soldier.
Created this hunk of burning disdain
for you and your entire crew of
miscreant trolls.
Tanisha Jackland Aug 2020
They conjure up
Numbers from
the sacred air like
alpha shamans always do
saging poetics and
placing their hands
on the mouse of
your spine
just a page away
from nirvana
they say it would heal you
the old incantations
of an ancient
magic speaking to you
in tongues with clicks
layered in keyboard divination
they are here to say
you can illuminate
the world with love
laughing with your bellies
Tanisha Jackland Nov 2018
Look. it's like this. My videos are a simply a vehicle for my poetry and music. I am not a videographer or some kind of genius artist. It's just me. surprise surprise. making my somewhat descent sounding tracks of poetry and music to less than mediocre images and free stock footage I found on the webs.

And yes. Beyonce has finally caught up with me. I know. And no. I am not hooked up with corporations getting paid by the millions. In fact, I am anti-corporate fighting for the average person.

So help a sista out and listen and share and comment. All it takes is a simple hit of the tracks. a listen. and some feedback.

And all of you beautiful souls that have been with me for ages. I see you. And I thank you from the bottom of my humble little heart. <3 <3

His ugly business
of dissecting you
Keeping you in pieces
the cold fragments in his
odd little jars

what he likes best of you
is your flesh and bones
He is a cannibal with
a trampled heart

You should be eating him
and yet there are no others
but ourselves coming and going
into unison like a chest
heaving for the living air...
Men are from Mars
Tanisha Jackland Mar 2016
We are fragments
distilled and meticulous
spheres of flesh and bone
replicating thru space
like the urgency of fractals

We are galactic bulls
breaking laws
with our big *****
spread across the
star spangled void

We need far too much...
******* at the black breast
of gravity and forgetting
these bodies are really temporary
Forgetting
we once belonged to the sky
Fleeting ether
and ascending mediocrity
Tanisha Jackland Aug 2019
If You do you
and I do you too
how would I know
my worth to be true.

would I have left
the house of glee
that stays on my face
most eagerly
to please
those who have no
interest in me.

or am I just another you
looking for smiles
that keep calling me boo.

But we are each other
more of the same
how different we are
is a matter quite lame.

For there is a little of me
and a bit of you
in everything sentient
that we do

Makes life more
meaningful and souful alas
the diversity of life
makes this place a blast.

So you be you
and I'll do me
together we'll live
in authenticity

"Dark skin is not a crime." -Anonymous*

I wear my skin as a test,
I wear it like a cross.
my crucifixion though
I could save the world.

I am the secret
of the night come
risen from its womb.

Ordained by the Sun,
My skin is a test and
I am warm inside like you.

I used to be

frightened of dragonflies

until my husband

clued me in on

how good they are

for the ecosystem

eating mosquitoes

across the lakes

and such

but dragonflies represent

the horror of growing up

for me

how adulting brings

the innocence of

childhood to

an undeniable halt

I could feel the weight

of adult realms compressing

me into a condensed

little consumer all

pre-progammed and 'waiting'

for further conditioning

like an automaton

And me remaining in

a doe-eyed stance for

pretty much the

rest of my life
Tanisha Jackland Apr 2020
He came as
clear as crystal
spoke to me
in cello notes
My body was not
my own but his
to strum and gently
tango with
He tasted like
sweet mead
lit tiny fires upon
my skin
I succumbed
consumed by
this holy muse...
Tanisha Jackland Jul 2019
She is talk
dreaming in him

Her spit
bone dry

parched from the daily
Sun of him

she is ill
with his phony grins

he spins in
her head

sexting other
girls again

She is not
the priority

and it is
way too **** hot

on his
broken back burner again

his love
is safe and dry

her words
arid syllables

that sit dank
in her mouth

I am my own medicine
the poison is me
but I am not bound
by my word
for the sky is me
as well as the scent
from a wild flower
when you see me
I am also the mountain
you cannot move
to know my strength
is happiness
in the elements of earth
to know I am the still
water flowing
is peace
I am calm

I never know when it will erupt
Something profane
and unshackled
born deep within me

Some say it’s the soul
expressing itself
Defying this flesh and bone
But who am I to impede
It’s dawning

I cannot hold it
down much longer
It will devour me
Bit by bit
I will be consumed
Within its rage

Then I will burn like a witch…
Tanisha Jackland May 2018
You be the death of me
shapeshifting and black winged
I gave you sustenance
and you spoke to me
with gratitude
in the cackle of a crow
you never mocked me
bring me a song
I know you'd
be the guardian
of my soul
Tanisha Jackland Feb 2018
You are frequency
Some are high
but many are low
what frames you
is how conscious
you choose to be
take the long way around
or stop to feel
the instance of
pure consciousness
You are soul
I felt you coming
before you got here
Your energy
proceeds you
whether you know it
or not
Vibes don't lie
If you feel icky around someone trust that...not their words.  And if you feel awesome around someone...trust that and move forward.

Bleed
woman
bleed

Feed the licks of the Sun
with your immortal womb

Sieze the comfort
of the light before it dies
tried woman
waiting in the amniotic fluid

Bleed
woman
bleed

Show up in the afterbirth
before the hours
have gone fetal
deliver yourself from gender

Live the unknown gaps
free, black and forever
Womanhood It ain't always pretty, folks.

These days are dark days
filled with the empty
promise of light
somewhere the Sun
is unemcumbered
and it is clear as crystal sheets
but over here the Sun
dodges in and out
of the clouds even
the sky worries
will these slick movements
rest or will they
get the best of us

We are evolving
Finally the monster
is rising slowly and
rubbing its heavy eyes
to a pant less world
a world without
cut throats and apathy
"Your hierarchary
is crumbling"
and people are jumping
from high places
the glass shattering
above us
None of us have anything
to wear but this same
nakedness
the same wounds
weeping and yet, there are
those of us who truly
want to heal.

Io ti trovo / come se tu fossi dovunque /
in ognuno io ti vedo / io sono il seme /
tu sei il vento.

I keep finding you
as if you are everywhere
in everyone I see you
I am the seed
You are the wind
This wonderful italian guy translated this piece for me. He said it moved him so.  Dear to my heart, now.

A mystery has kept us into these fire roots.
But the spell has been broken upon our Judas lips.

Into this new skin out from the gravity of a gold ruin.
As faceless men attempt to take it all away.

Too naive to understand the scent of heat into their brains.
They are delicate holding their bellies with the breadth of their teeth.

But we all have wombs and are fetal within.
Growing strange new limbs every day.
Tanisha Jackland Jan 2019
You have awoken. again.
Clarity follows you.
when you come around. again.

I have been in fragments.
waiting.
and torn into pieces.

I was so miniscule when
you were far away.

You could feel
me nowhere.

but now that you are back
from your slumber.

I am here for you
and
unbroken.

Don't say a word

Just fill me with the void

Feed me your untamed madness

Your unstable ways

For I am the center

I am the middle of the storm

And we meet like two black holes

colliding into one another

Eating each other up
Tanisha Jackland Mar 2016
Give them poetry
and they will come
to feed their souls
upon the sustenance
of your everlasting words.
I feel the terrorists and extremists of the world need poetry to fill the ugly void that they must endure. Feed them with your poetry to make them see that we too are souls, and one.
