Lost Honey
Jacob Jauregui Dec 2020
I was waiting for a hand
To catch up with mine
But my hand was left catching
December's cold

I look over to the place
where she used to stand
Not even a fallen pedal
But her scent remains

So I followed the bees
and I saw what was out there
But none of those flowers
Were familiar to me

Where's the flower
I had picked every day?
Who's nectar had
the sweetest taste?
Who's colors were unique
In every way?

I'll keep wishing
For her scent to stay

But where's the flower
I had picked every day?

A Brighter View
Jacob Jauregui Aug 2020
When lightning has taken your eyes
And you feel like falling rain
With thunder just yelling your name
I can wait inside with you
As we wait for a brighter view

And when every tear
has had it's chance
To warm up to the day
from their blade of grass
The sun will pick them up
And we will be on our way
Dew dew dew
Cause It's a brand new day

Skipping Stones
Jacob Jauregui Oct 2017
I was the first ripple in the lake
To caress you in your fall
But you did not wish to stay

You skipped along
Pursing love on higher depths
And last I saw, you were falling
More than I would've let

Your little stone heart
isn't skipping now
What has you sinking down?

The darkness clasps your heart
Tightly in his hands
What a terrible man

Does the pressure above
keep you below?
And in those cold hands
don't you feel alone?

Ghosts Inside (memories)
Jacob Jauregui Apr 2017
Do ghosts exist?
If they do
they exist in me

Cause If the past is dead
then we are just ghosts
inside memories

You walk into my mind
Forcing me to run towards
what is no longer real
And your fragmented touch
I can somehow still feel

I will always see you
in your purgatory
that’s bound to me

To haunt all these places
our bodies use to be

Sometimes,
I hear your ghost speak

I get the chills
when I hear you say:

"don't leave me"
This is a redo of my original "Ghosts Inside" that I wrote around a year ago. This version I thought was more personal, being that it's relating to a loved one

Unbury Me
Jacob Jauregui Apr 2017
There is so much of you
on my mind

that everything else
seems buried

and I feel like
I am too

But standing next to you
all my thoughts just float away

and I am unable to tell you
what I’m thinking

but please,
take my hand..

Unbury me
In regards to missing someone when they aren't there. And when you finally see them you can't find your words. Almost like you're content with just being next to them. Lol

Two Steps Forward
Jacob Jauregui Feb 2017
She may look my way
beautiful smile
but if I take a step forward
I imagine
she will step to the side
he is in her life

I may look her way
with a generous smile
and if she takes a step forward
I imagine
she will be mine

What You See
Jacob Jauregui May 2016
Everyone stared
at the trapped beast
All eyes on me

Can't I be judged
By the good I've done
Not by what you see

Hanging Cage
Jacob Jauregui May 2016
We may never know
The terrors
he has seen
But the crows took his eyes
So they may finally
get relief
Was watching a show with a deceased prisoner in one of those hanging cages that's exposed to everything. I wondered, what was that guy's story?

Ghosts Inside
Jacob Jauregui Apr 2016
What has mattered the most
evidently, have just been ghosts

If the past is dead
what is the fate of a memory?

Left to wander around
in a purgatory, binded to me

Sometimes I beg to see them
haunting the places we used to be

if the past is dead, then we trap ghosts
inside our memories

Underneath the Giving Tree
Jacob Jauregui Apr 2016
I am not
The giving tree

I was the apple
Fighting gravity

Trying to keep myself
above your reach

But I fell below

You picked me up
and, well.. you know..
Messing around with an old book & some thought

No Hope

hope wasn't found

Forever Isn't Answering
Jacob Jauregui Apr 2016
Our caress,
tightly pressed
chest to chest

“I love feeling
your heartbeat”
You’d tell me

Let me hear it again
so long it’s been
It makes my head spin

Recalling that day
you passed away.
When Forever wouldn’t stay

Did my heart quit?
Or is the rhythm just sh*t?

I tried opening up my arms
But no one felt my heart.
Does it still beat behind my guard?

I just don't feel anything
When you're not talking to me
And this forever isn't answering
When you were coming from together forever, but now dealing with being alone. And too stubborn to move on. An unexpected death in this case.

Motivated Wings
Jacob Jauregui Apr 2016
They say I’m not progressing
Just because progress was slow
They say my goals were set
higher then these steps can go

Well I refuse to believe
I am merely chasing a dream
I have the motivation to care
I will develop wings
If that’s what it takes
to get there

Singular Lies
Jacob Jauregui Mar 2016
How many lies does it take
To tell a single lie

The answer took off
Just before eternity

Sorry I'm not there
To keep listening
Trying to recall the single lie that spawned all the lies I have to sift through.

And the lies stop when you stop caring to listen

The Bird That Flew
Jacob Jauregui Mar 2016
I found
this feather

The last
belonging clue

A fingerprint
of the bird

Who took it all
And flew
Tries to disappear from your life, but they leave something behind, which reminds you of who they once were

Engrave Your Name
Jacob Jauregui Mar 2016
This world was for you
To engrave your name in it
As chosen by you
With that being said
It's rather sad
Seeing that a gravestone
Is all you have

Just Another Kill
Jacob Jauregui Mar 2016
You begged me to stay
While you stood outside my grave
It only took till I was further down
To finally take notice in the fact
That you had never been around
And It was useless to fight
Your piercing eyes
Inject what they will
So that in no time
Nothing is fine
as I'm just another ****

Times of War
Jacob Jauregui Mar 2016
Dark skies
finally an aberrant blue
But returning home
I cannot do

Nice skies
came with a price
Only to be payed
With the taking of our lives

There were so many of us
willing to pay
I pray it's forever
that you'll stay safe

There it goes..

The last of my debt
shattered by sword
My last moments impaled
by one of life's many thorns

These were times of war

Today is Fleeting
Jacob Jauregui Mar 2016
These days I'm not done with
And yet
Today is fleeting
What will I leave behind now
I wonder
Then I see those lips retreating
And as the sun sails away
To become tomorrow's day
The light in your eyes
Begins to fade
And a silhouette
can no longer stay

— The End —
