I wanted to write
About you,
Us,
Me.
I wanted to write about how I felt,
But the paper stayed empty
And there was no better way to describe
Me

We leave this old year to a softly played tune, enter the new in a crescendo of sound
A million trumpets blowing, the throbbing beat of drums all around

We poets hold hand and encircle the world with our thoughts
As we leave the old year and welcome the new
As the brothers and sisters of man

Soon the darkness will give way to light as the new sun climbs high in the sky
Spreading the light of peace on us all as the world is born anew

So open your hearts and open your minds as 2016 is born
Bring peace and love to all mankind
As the new year begins its first dawn
I wish all my fellow poems a happy 2016
Poems are the MRI's of the soul .

*(repost)
this Sunday morning
a homeless woman
walked by as
the people were
getting out of their
brand new SUVs
on their way to church

no one seems to care anymore
something wrong with this picture

beaded curtain coming down
cacti wear a jeweled crown
it's difficult to wear a
frown

the smell of succulents and sage
the tympany of titan's rage
my mood has changed
i turn the page

through the leaves
the moisture seeps
in cloud cover the sun sleeps
birds are hidden
in their keeps
and all around

the sky

weeps

Dad is better
He hasn't been sleeping so much today
The nurse came today and checked his heart
He has an elevated blood pressure
but he should be o.k.
He's going to the doctor tomorrow
Thanks for all the good wishes and prayers!

Now the only thing weeping is the sky!

When you see her cry
     you get a rag,
a gentle delicate cloth.
                                        Lovingly grasp her hand
                                               and dab its tip;
dry each tear as they come.
                                                                                          And ask each drop
                                                                                               why it'd leave
                                                                                          such beautiful eyes.

  If she wishes
to be in the sky,
  tell her to go.
                              Take the sun ransom,
                              and replace its shining
                                    with her own.
So you can see her every morning
                                                                                   and wish for her
                                                                                  return each night.

When you see her scars
  both visible and non-
    touch each gently.
                                             And remind her
                                       that each and every hurt
                                            she has survived,
                                                                                        has only made her
                                                                                   that much more unique;
                                                                                       that much stronger.

  Show her that she
  is a special person
and is worthy of love.
                                     That she deserves the love
                                            she fears to give...
                                            show her so that
                                                                                 one day after you're gone
                                                                                  she can find the strength
                                                                                    to go on without you.

    Tell her that while
she might not be a goddess
far above worldly desires,
                                          that she is amazing,
                                         for just being herself
                                    for being that beautiful girl
                                                                               who thinks herself damaged
                                                                                  when in truth she's just
                                                                                a different kind of beautiful.

   And finally, love her.
Like a boy loves a girl
Till she finally remembers
                                            that that's what she is:
not a scar, not a goddess,
not a star. But a girl.
                                                                                    That deserves to be loved.

Beyond the thoughts
that keep us bound
fear
suffering
anger
love
we will fly
though it be fleeting

we savor
the height
while craving
the ground below
knowing
it takes both
to make
a soul
The shooting star
I saw at 6am
Was the perfect reminder
That night does not
Have to mean darkness
And that even dying things
Can go on a journey

I will blaze and soar
My wish
Was to be that star
