I write
to express
express
to confess
confess my feelings
and unspoken coalesce

I write
to overcome
Intermittent convalesce
which sometimes arises
due to emotional
sufferings & distress

I write
not to please or to impress
but for one who do not laugh
on my mistakes
and often understand
my write with acquiesce

Him
Suspended in time
Weightless and unworried
We hang on to the moment
Sedated magic unhurried

His scent is captivating and wild
Forever embedded in my brain
Masculine and crisp
A few hints of the earth after a rain

Insecurities held at bay
I live inside your sanctuary
Your embrace keeps me safe
My senses relaxed and unwary

Red leaves
           fell silently
Under the maple tree
           by the lake
Where we met
Last autumn
           Late September;
When the maple leaves
             turned crimson
       you made me
blush just like
those scarlet leaves
       That day ...
                                    Autumn came early,
                                  Why don't you,too...?

            Winter's on the way
           Are you, too?

Where are you...?

After you left, the virid sugar maple leaves turned flavescent 🍁 ,then segued into red

Be fearless.
Your voice was not made to be silenced,
And neither was your thought.
Give it tongue, give it volume, give it song.
Give it your lips and your teeth.
This is what you are to the world.
This is your truth, and your way.
There is nothing more precious than this.
Bite hard, never let go.
Published a few years ago as part of poetry collection for my university Womyns Centre. Thought it became relevant again.
Love is a language
my head cannot translate

I have studied it for years
and still I do not understand

phrases and words
that would make other peoples
hearts dance and sing

kisses on the cheek
seem alien and obscene

I know I am crushing
a part of myself through
my failure to grasp

what the person standing
before me is saying

their eyes wide and wet

but my throat is dry,
and I cannot hold a conversation

in this strange language they call love

I’m sorry I had to leave
I’m sorry you blame yourself
I’m sorry the timing just wasn’t right
I’m sorry I left you in pain
I know you feel broken inside, you just won’t admit it
Something wasn’t right, I had to go
Leaving you feeling helpless
Broken and confused
Not understanding why
Saying hello and right away goodbye
I’m sorry I had to leave
Don’t blame yourself
The time wasn’t right
But I will see you one day
When I get to look into my mothers eyes, for the first time...

We
I realise,
that I am more than what is within my skin.
I've grown together
with many beings.
To be perceived as this life,
this consciousness.
Together we navigate
simple and complex adventures,
ultimately decomposing
to join the next adventure.

We realise,
that we are more than what is within our skin.
