Let me crash on the shoreline,
the way your tears will collide
with your eyelids and your cheeks.
Let every part of me sink
beneath the uncharted waters,
the way you will drown in grief.
Let me tread the ocean floor
and leave imprints on the sand,
the way I have left you mine
upon the deepest part of your heart.

Let me stay –
Even if it’s just my ghostly figure,
even if it meant looking at same star
from a different angle, from a different universe.
Let me stay with you.
Picasso palette blue,
you and I,
the summer,
early morning sky
painting dreams on
a passing butterfly.
Perfect.
I am entangled
No I'm entwined
I am pulled closer
Time
         after
Time
can you feel my pulse?
I whisper in your ear
Still pulling me in closer
I feel I think I hear
Our hearts beat a thunder
A pressure takes my breath
Our hearts beat a thunder
I move and you say
*not yet
This will be a working progress
veiled behind the barbs of acacia
the river bathes in the lazy sun

she's a thousand years or more
but knocks my heart's door
like a flirtatious teen

come deflower me
bare me in your poetry
wear me on your skin

soon she would be lost to the sky
leaving on the banks echoes of her lust

i pause for a piece of her
before my dream turns to dust!
a river (my cover photo)

four letter word challenge*

beat that gong
toll that bell
bent into song
sent to hell

hips have push
sigh over hour
lips live lush
lies gone sour

hand over fist
**** your eyes
cold hard cash
**** your lies

girl into gold
gold into rust
girl, once sold

turn into dust*

DON'T:

wear a young person's clothes,
hair styles, glasses
use their writing styles, lingo,
be like the masses

don't go to their hangouts,
or places trendy
they may be "happening"
but they're also quite spendy

don't wear flashy jewels
gaudy lures to attract
because though you're attractive
you may just lack tact

for if you're over sixty
or look like you are
you'll seem SO much older
in that muscle car!

DO:

make folk laugh
and wear a wide smile
get out in the sun
walk that extra mile!

keep your clothing modest
with a classic air
whatever you do
stay away from BIG HAIR!

write like your age
you have wisdom and grace
you can KNOW their slang
but also use taste

as most of you know
though you FEEL young
your body IS aging
your heart and your lungs

so take it easy, it isn't a sin
to walk a bit slower
you'll be no has-been!

most of all, folks,
be those young people's GOAL

ADORN YOUR GREY HEAD
WITH GEMS OF THE
SOUL**

Mike Essig
He spent his day in
hell's reading room,
so now he is trying
to put out the flames
in his brain
which threaten
to consume it
entirely.

He does not try
very hard.

His mind wanders
to death
at a crossroads,
names without meaning,
how so much love
fossilizes in the air.

It grows hotter
and hotter.

His nervous system
recoils in horror
like a defiled angel.

Purity seems the
better choice.

Even though
the flames stretch
out tortured hands,
he tries no harder.

He is lost
in the kingdom
of words.

A kingdom
only burning cleanses.

He hears Cerebrus
barking.

Cradling snowy doves in your soft palms;
     fluttering wings and fluttering smiles.
Tip-toeing shorelines, wet grass on riverbanks;
     sun-kissed shoulders and Apollo's eyes.
Flushed skin in the shade of Pelion,
fig juice in your cold gold hair.
