too afraid to let go
while too inclined to stay
the past; it bears a heavy weight
that will never go astray
even if i had to wake
a painful choice; it still awaits
even as my dreams do so
a million miles away
Just thinking.

Time will sweep the seas aside
And dry the wistlful shore,
But I'll stay here for you my dear,
And count the graves of war.

nivek
flesh meets metal fired with deadly intent
children splash in the shallows of an ocean
a woman kneels hugging the gravestone of a loved one
kites are flown high in skies shared with tank shells
the sun shines brightly obscured by the smoke of explosions
there is no normality only the normality of premature death
this is the warring of Man hatred galvanised set loose
all respect all understanding all mercy forgot this is Gaza
I remembered her—
Voice, soft, warm summer water,
First breeze ever felt.
After six goblets,
the taste of Merlot
actually tastes like Beaujolais.
Unless of course
you're an expert
on wineolgy
& I'm not.
But I do like a glass or seven
every now and then.
The lights look weird now,
peoples eyes are amplified
& they are smoking abundantly.
Sadly, the only fresh air
around here
is six blocks away
in a roundabout
& I ain't crawling that far
to breathe
or even try to clear my head.
So I think
I'll keep my lonely-self
sitting right here at this quaint bar
and order me a glass of Chablis
that will probably taste like Merlot.
Sophie don't look too bad.

Many people always say
that they're okay
hoping we wouldn't believe
so don't be too naìve.
She needs your help
always feels bad about herself
she thinks she's worthless
never has true happiness

Everyone has a mask they put on
As believable as the rising sun
doing everything to conceal
most of what they really feel
until life becomes a living masquerade
feelings being hidden in the shade
See this is what I mean,
People aren't always as they seem.
Blissful on the outside,
but broken inside.

He needs you to realize,
when he says he's fine, it's a lie.
Learning to read him is key
to see beneath what the human eye percieves.
All he needs
is someone who can say, "You're good enough for me."

We use masks to hide it all
but someday, one could fall.
To prevent that, there's a lot you could do.
Make them feel special to you.

Everyday a living masquerade;
an abundance of hiding the pain.
