Beyond the clouds
There is a light
Gentle and strong
The promise
Of the end of night.
It shimmers
With the sound of
Children's laughter.
The hint of
A happily ever after.
Or maybe just
Okay for now,
But we'll make it
Through this storm
Somehow.
Years ago,
More like lifetimes,
I was better
Than most anyone
In any sport.
A champion.
I was very good,
Better than most anybody
In my education, with family,
Had two closest pals.
I had cars, motorcycles,
Clothes, girls.
I always had the better part
Of a North American middle class life.
Today, I'm elated
To be one of most anybody.
No egotism intended. It's all tempus fugit.
I never thought I'd believe in fate
     until I met you
I never thought I'd believe in 'happily everafter'
     until I held you
I never thought I'd believe in true love
     until I kissed you
I never thought I'd believe in 'the one'
until the day you asked me to marry you
I never really thought I'd believe in anything
     **until you

Today and every day
I will keep watch
For subtle movements of mind
Which slowly morph
Into ripples
In the stillness
Of the surface
Of the sea
Of my mind

Those ripples
Sometimes stay small
And subside
But
They may become waves
Which lick the shore
Slowly
Eroding as they go

I must keep watch
Ripples may become waves
Which can one day become
Human Tsunamis

I will keep my mind
Ripple-free
Happy

I must keep watch

foolish grins
and things unsaid
          ✦
a twinkle in your eye
a playful friend

                    the scent of your cologne
                    the feel of your shirt
                                  ✦
                   audacious jokes
                   a cryptic verse

slow guitar
secret kisses

take me into
imagined blisses

                     "What are these?"
                      I guess that's my cue

                      these are all the reasons
                      that I love you
Bringing back one of my old poems.
All at once the music stopped;
The calliope stopped spinning.
Atop the stallions we held hands
Convinced that we were winning –
For we were in the prime of life,
We held the golden ring,
Though the music stopped, we knew
Forever we would sing.

All at once the music stopped;
The Ferris wheel stopped turning.
Atop the city looking down,
We saw that lights were burning –
For we were in the evening and,
Our lives had passed midway,
And when the music stopped we knew
That we had had our day.

All at once the music stopped;
The carnival had ended.
And we held each other tightly,
As if our lives could be suspended –
For without the music and the lights,
Past and Present blended,
Our future was but memories
That we had resurrected.

All at once the music stopped;
The night was deathly still.
Alone, and scared I trembled,
Without a prayer, without a will–
For my life had been a carnival,
With my lover at my side,
But all alone, without my lover
I knew that I had also died.

We all lost Mom over a year ago.  We all miss her, but Dad is the one that suffers most.  She was his life.

no stone is colder
than a stone that's left unturned
afraid if we flip it over
we might just get burned

when there is no closure
the heart is only left to yearn
the pain never grows older
but becomes our main concern
