In the midst
of a morning walk
I followed a trail
of purple
flowers
fallen
and ripe
that led me to
the mother tree
who has grown
heavy
with too much
beauty to carry
Ashrafieh, is a magical place in Beirut, Lebanon. It has those purple floral trees who decorate not only its appeal but also the streets after they have fallen.
It has a certain feel to it, when you see them, you feel the cusp of summer that will flood the city with heat, but yet in the midst of everything has hit the ground, there's so much beauty to the fallen.

We dine on tears again this evening,
Sipping vessels that shan't run dry.
The banquet halls tonight are heaving,
Guests dreaming of clearer skies.

Is this water still water
in the photo taken a moment ago,
or is it reflecting the sky
in a dark mirror of wishes,
drifting through the mind?

Do the thoughts wear the words?
Do they embrace stillness and truth?
There is no single pattern to interpret.
Alternative facts appear credible.

What was predictable, a sweet certainty,
became a distant mirage of memories,
touching softly reality and its interpretations,
sealed tightly in the crystal bottle,
sinking slowly into oblivion without regrets.

Canceled words are so infinite and quiet,
bringing a deep indigo relief,
inexpressible and so beautiful.
No doubts. No screams.
Just a peaceful self-reconciliation.

What a reflection of my soul your heart must hold,
In its depths, my spirit’s secrets are unrolled.
Like a river that winds to the farthest shore,
Your love calls me home, forevermore.

In the quiet of your gaze, the universe lies,
The stars themselves speak through your tender eyes.
Your heart, a sanctuary, where time does cease,
In your embrace, my soul finds peace.

The world is but a shadow, fleeting and small,
But in your love, I find the truth of it all.
Your touch, a balm to my restless mind,
A haven where my spirit is entwined.

What a reflection of my soul your heart must be,
In your love, I see all eternity.
Boundless and pure, like the eternal sky,
Together, we soar, where angels fly.

For in your love, I have found my place,
A home in your heart, a sacred space.
What a reflection of my soul your heart must be,
A mirror of my dreams, forever set free.

The sweetest torment of your lips, I seek,
A kiss that makes my very spirit weak.
Each gentle press, a fire that doth ignite,
A yearning flame that burns through endless night.

Your lips, like velvet, soft and full of grace,
Do haunt my dreams, do stir my heart’s embrace.
In every touch, a world of bliss I find,
A longing deep, a passion yet unlined.

O’ let your kiss be mine, and ne’er depart,
For in thy arms, I find my truest heart.
The world may fall, but you, my sole desire,
Shall be my bliss, my passion, and my fire.

The sweetest torment, bound by love’s design,
Your lips, my dearest, shall forever be mine.

It's dark when I get up
To write poetry.

Who is awake too?

It feels so solitary,
But words are my comfort;
Or are they my tools?

We wangle together, wrapping each other up.
But I am no-one’s fool,
The ones that ain't got bite
Lie dormant in my mind's eye.

Potency propels prompting forth
And when I'm done, I sigh…

Relief.

Do you stop and take notice —
Of the sirens wailing in the background?

Wonder…what trouble has been seized,
A damsel relieved, or a criminal taken to jail?

Do you hear the sirens of trouble?
Or celebrate justice received?
What do you think of when you hear sirens?

An emotional wind,
just to clear the daily fields,
to ask a moment after,
with childish tenderness.

They have a soul
like an old building,
with a million windows,
and one locked door.

They are so different,
more than a straight line.
They save the world,
seeing, feeling, not less.

Not a doctoral degree,
no frame that fits.
Perhaps don’t read the words,
they think beyond two and one.

They burn the dinner,
tangled in their inner world.
Flickering light, voice—
A scratch of structure is too much.

States of agitation,
flow of information,
and the beautiful creatures,
make sense without logic.

They give to this dimension
more than they’ll ever know.
Paradox in the crowd,
unclassified,
a blessing for society,
yet invisible.

Friendship offered, warmly met
Creating such a bond
Melding a relationship
From a casualness to fond.
It all invoked a strong regard
Which built a warming grace
Incorporating responsibility
For each other to embrace
A crucible of affection,
A passion to enfold
Anticipations joy to feel
Each smiling face, as gold.
Built a nice dependence
That each other will be there
Should the slightest shadow
intervene
To cause each other care...

But then, just only yesterday,
Where we arranged to meet
In that cutest little cafe
On that sweetest little street...
I waited for your smiling face
To happily appear
But alas, you never showed at all
Confused, I shed a tear.
Then your cellphone kept on ringing
As I tried call after call
But alas, it went unanswered
With no messages at all.
Distraught,
I caught you at your door
A distance on your face,
The coldness in your startled eyes
Cruelty
Put me in my place.
I reeled away in torment,
Sad realization sewn,
That love had flown right out the door
Leaving hurt and I,
Alone.

Thought I would delve into some ancient recollections of the tragic  superficiality of some fledgling relationships, past.
Reasons for the heartbreak range from  reluctance to commit to a realization of a differentiation of the social mix.
Reasons for a sudden and cruel abandonment rest primarily, though, on the level of personal integrity of the participants....as to whether or not they have the "chutzpah" to see it through.

O’ Cup-Bearer, reveal Thy flame,
Let not this weary soul grow tame.
No earthly drink can touch the deep,
As one true glance that makes me leap.

Through barren lands my spirit roams,
Unchained, unbound, it seeks its home.
All vows I made, all oaths I swore,
Were swept away when Love’s door tore.

Pour not from cups of earthly clay,
But let Thy gaze light up my way.
No goblet holds the wine I seek—
I drink the glance that makes me weak.

What need of wine, or earthly grace,
When Thy pure light fills all space?
O’ stream of truth! O’ starry gleam!
Engulf the world, and birth the dream.

I know the tavern, I know the door,
Where souls are lost and spirits soar.
Strike out my name, my transient breath—
And write me in the book of death.

Not death of flesh, but death of “I”—
That I may in Thy Truth arise.
Thou art the Flame, the Sea, the Sky—
The Breath where all the ages lie.

So pour, O’ Bearer, pour the light,
Let soul be drowned in Thy delight.
No glass remains, no self, no shore—
Naught but Thy gaze, forevermore.

Repeatedly, I have gathered you.
And yet you still fall, **** leaves, you're like a floating fault!
Killing me softly with your incessant grin;
Endlessly gloating: "I've got more where they've come from!"
Declares MN as she blows her windy, willowy waves of air through the trees; nice breeze but...

"Come on, give me a break!" I shriek.
Looking back over old poems, I noticed one: "Afternoons on the back deck (https://hellopoetry.com/poem/4862646/afternoons-on-the-back-deck/) " and thought, "No time for whiskey when I have to rake!" Ha! MN = Mother Nature

Erenn
Mama,
how did you hold me
when my hands were full of thorns,
when my voice was storm and silence,
when I shut every door
but yours?

You stood,
a lantern in the hallway,
like a lighthouse, guiding me home.
When I called your name in ash,
When I broke what you had built,
and still—
you never asked for the past.

I remember you in fragments:
the hum behind my fever dreams,
the arms that knew no armor,
the eyes that saw the boy beneath
the war I wore like skin.
I spat my sorrow,
you swallowed it whole,

'Told me love
is not afraid
to kneel.
'

Now I write you in the quiet,
where guilt and gratitude entwined,
and I pray you knew
that every sorry
was mine.

Mama,
your love was the sky—
and I was rain
'falling wrong,
falling wild,
falling home.'

No matter how
this storm would hurt you
Mama, I know—
You will always
love me,
even at my worst.
