Feathered, protected
You take me under your wing
Holding me close
To your beating heart
I hear your breath sing

With the illusion of silence
You shatter my hope
Swallowing hard
I wonder who you are
A mother bird
Entrusting me
Encouraging me far

I love our mutual interest
The light in your eyes
Captivating
Embracing

From a distance
We are held, in motion
A deep meditative waiting
For the sweet sensation
Of freedom
As we say goodbye

Cutting loose
The ribbon from our feet
Hearts on high
Wings steadied against the wind
All expectations fall to Earth...
Fly.

Under vibrant disco beams,
I became something you believed.
I stole your love and trust,
ran away with it in the night,
as we danced and danced.
But as the sun came up and dusk became dawn,
you realized who I was,
not a lover, not someone you should trust.
yet you still did...

Drowsy despair,
Not a care in my heart.

Affairs with my rest till my
Death does us part.

And that's the best part,
That I swear I can snooze

Anything away that I
Care not to lose.

I'm an opportunist,
So if I ever lose it,
I'll just grin in my sleep
And play it so elusive.
Ever count sheep?
They seem so abusive.
You never really rest, man.
Sleep's inconclusive.

Nine, one, one or--
One, one, nine.
I can never stay awake.
Don't you ask me the time.

Don't you ask me a thing.
I was never good with questions.
I'll repeat what you say, then
Dot--dot--dot the sentence...

I can't...

Form a sentence or,

Fathom lessons, I'm

Too **** tired to

Pay attention.

I would pay attention, but it
Interferes with sleep.

Codeine got me in my sheets
Buried so deep.
Blah blah blah

Sunlight dances on glistening raindrops
Caressing Autumn leaves.
The cold air crisp through my heart of ice
On this chilly Autumn eve.

Smoke**

“ when your hearts on fire,
smoke gets in your eyes...”
–from the song “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes”
by the Platters

A blue-grey haze littered the room,
an intimate café
where the sensual sounds
of the Fender triple neck
steel guitar played
and enticed a hungry sway
in the jazzy cool way
as you walked in
wanting to dance.
~~~
After watching you dance
in R&B; abandon,
“Sleep Walk”, a melodic haunting vibes
filled the air with ****** tension.
I held out my hand
and you wandered sleekly
into my smooth melodies.
As our sweat mingled
we moved closer in time
a Shalimar drip
tasted my lip.
~~
I felt the shiver quiver
and though the music stopped
a while ago,
we danced,
we danced,
we danced on.
And while my heart
is still on fire, and your smoke
gets in my eyes,
it is your haunting “sleep walk”
that makes me sing.
My heart beats are tied to his feet
Every step is another skipped beat
My paths end at your feet.
i make my bed
four times a year
because when the blankets
are on correctly
it's not easily accessible
to wear as a cape.
and i sometimes wish that
i could get out of my
own
******
head
and open up enough
to love someone
else for once.
i sometimes spray more
perfume on my
pajamas than my
dresses it's not
aromatherapy but sometimes
i calm down.
sometimes i manage to
forget
about these
disturbing
thoughts
just
reverberating
through my mind.
and sometimes i just
fall apart
but sometimes i pull
myself together.
today is the sum
of those times.
