Some memories I give her
to drown in dark water,

like an old revolver
thrown into a river,

nights spent drinking
the moon under a table

made of maple and fables
we once believed true

love lost, found
and lost again together

where only the mountains
and seas last forever.
Who bends the wind
folds it up
puts it in the envelope
then will send

Who gathers the sun
like a flock
bottles it then
says it's done

Who ropes my emotional
ties it and then binds it
in black and red ribbons
it's not fictional

Who teases the vessel
filling the void
where even the left
has a right to wrestle

Come vapor ***** . . . dream
permanate . . . decorate
you titillate in love's
sweet scheme

When ? Then I am left alone
the walls still stand
The night wails as comes the dawn
The heart longs for home
Hello ,
Take my hand . . .
we will step out
onto the stars and run
across the Milky Way

We will swim
in the pools of
glistening light and
share to our heart's delight

We will catch comets . . .
putting them in our pockets
making wishes
along the way

We will visit the darkest moons
and give them light
from far across the galaxies

But the most heavenly light of all
will reside in your smile

I think to be thoughtful
I speak to be heard
I write to decipher
The truth in my words.

I smiled to ensnare you
I laughed to secure
You slipped through the trap
That I built to procure

I kissed to consume you
I hugged to enfold
My arms close on nothing
You're no where to hold

I writhed to entrance you
I clutched you to keep*
Now the place where I hold you
Resides in my dreams.

I write so you'll read this
My hand pens the truth
All that I've written,
I've written for you.

I stood on the landing
Mouthing words to your friend
When you charged up the stairs
Screaming “Then one of you must be dead!”

I looked at him, at you,
At the pallid wonder in your eyes
When I took that first step
Backward and upward and out
Into the thinning air,
Felt the blank relief of weightlessness.

I floated softly onto the stage
Into a play with trumpets.
Only a rehearsal, the theatre empty.
At a signal from a bald man,
The chorus held its final note.
I had arrived.
They relaxed and the purple curtain fell.

The table was set.
The morning was fine.
The world lay reflected
in two glasses of wine.

An empty plate
reflected sunshine,
The morning compressed
in two glasses of wine.

What did she see
in undulations of wine?
Were the shapes a portent?
Was there a design?

Were the glasses a mirror
or shadowy sign?
Perhaps they were more
than just glasses of wine.

She and a friend
sat down to dine.
Their reflections drank deeply
from two glasses of wine.
This was inspired by a gorgeous photo that I wish I could post on HP.

She just needs a man
To crack his whip
Sometimes

I stood at the station waiting for you
but you never came

For the longest time
I was attached to the notion
I could count on you
but paper planes never fly like rocket ships
when you're not there

I gazed at the hourglass sitting on the counter
Waiting for you
It mocked me with each grain that fell
so did the memories
flooding back like a never ending rainstorm
15 months gone, 15 months since
Love abandoned me on the battlefield

I remember how
I lost my breath as butterflies got lost in
Sweet Secret Strawberry
Kisses

I didn't know death had a shadow
I didn't know he was watching

I've run out of words, no more excuses
this love is silent

but it finally stopped being complicated
and I can dream outside of war
because I'm done waiting for you

When I wouldn’t let you kiss me in public because I was uncomfortable.
2. When I said no because I wasn't ready.
3. When I got worried because you would never text back.
4. When I was sad.
5. When I was sad.
6. When I was sad.
7. When my happiness was an inconvenience for you.
8. When I was too clingy.
9. When I wasn't clingy enough.
10. When I stopped loving you.
Did you ever really love me?
