i see him there every day
he always watches me
the town people call him stray
he calls himself free

"there's big fish under this bridge"
he points to a submerged stone
"that's where the whale lives"
I cast my line toward it's home

the old man smiled and watched me cast
idle hands and vicarious eyes
"don't try to set the hook too fast"
"this whale is really wise"

my line went tight, i felt the pull
i yanked with all my might
too hard headed to follow the rule
'let him take a big ole bite"

i threw my pole, and fell in the water
the old man only laughed
he said "look on the bright side"
"at least you got a bath"

(his smile made the water shimmer brighter
his laughter sang with the birds...)

"i'll be back soon to claim my prize
with a heavier pole and line
for me to catch a whale that size
it's going to take a lot of time"

now when i see the old man
we talk of the ones that got away
his wife, his kids, his life
and the fish i lost that day

There is no tommorrow
There is only today
Pray all ye fools to your invisible God!

My invisible friend is better than your invisible friend!

Religion is predicated upon lies...
Save me!
Bless our happy home!

Where there is fear there is rescue
Where there is panic there is prophet!

Toss me a boat anchor
Before I drown in this cesspool of derision attrition and crime
No matter what, you're alone in this realm known as life...

Striving for attention, begging for food and love...
The white dove flys above along with the hideous black vulture countervailing culture!

Eating the flesh off our bones
Phone home to reinnsure your skin
Wire me money honey, sealed with a kiss or I sink like a bad relationship into the abyss...
Tug my boat to stay afloat else I drown in the kings costly moat

Why steal from me ghetto boy?
You'll learn someday its only a test...

Only the best have no fear of the unknown!

Tryst
Balmy days
bound in Arcadia's summer; lightly whispered
            secrets, drifting beside forgotten pathways
sheltered in the umbra of nooks and hedgerows,
            breathlessly confide

Stolen dreams
awaken sultry mornings where love erupts
from ripened seed to bloom, eliciting
a fondness and a fawning that summer's end
            is fated to consume

Timeless moments
            captured for eternity within ring-
binders of the living trees, Arcadia's
old sentinels take pity on lovers
            lorn of keepsake memories

Summer fades
yet ever in Arcadia, summer shields
the land from autumn gloom and lovers lorn
will ever have a place here, where summer
keeps a vigil on their tomb

One day you'll meet a guy
Who'll tell you you're beautiful
And you will believe him
More than you did me.
It's not sad... Really.

Don’t text me when you’re drunk
Don’t even say my name when you’re high
Don’t think about me when you’re with her
Don’t reduce my worth to that

I haven't heard from you in a while
I haven't pulled out your picture and looked at it in ages
I haven't written poetry about you in a long time
I haven't been missing you

You used to be more interested in books than Ecstasy
You used to swear for no reason less
You used to be kinder
You used to be what you aren't anymore

I secretly hope you've looked at my picture once or twice
I secretly hope you'll text me again one day
I secretly hope you miss me just a little bit
I secretly hope that if you ever decide to "miss me" again I have the strength and courage to say "That's nice."

not "I miss you too"
I need a distraction, but I need that distraction to be something new, and something alive, and preferably something with a cellphone and no girlfriend.
I feel like that's the only way to forget him.

Someone I'm Not

I try to be the friend,
that no one ever was to me.
Maybe one day,
I'll have someone who cares as much as me.

I try to be the heart-mender,*
that no one cares to be.
Because it all ends the same,
with the heart breaking and no where to flea.

I try to be the class-clown,
that everyone adores with exceptions.
For some reason,
I was still being called a boring deception.

I try and I try to be someone I'm not,
that's the main reason for my style.
Because nobody will ever remember,
the girl with the shy smile.

You ever stop to think

The world would be a better place if the seas of laughter were shaped through the lesser

If Cattle Roared Among Giants

A world not grown through the substantial, but a world seeded with hope from the shade

Could we vanish this stabilization construed through faulty assumptions

Could we vanish this system of normality we hold so deeply to our soul

The limitations of wealth could no longer be our shackle

Will we ever be at peace
Please

we are poems.
beautifully written,
wonderfully designed;
marvelous works of art.
we are written with
starlight and wonder,
with verses of beauty
written across our hearts.
we are walking rhymes,
walking wonders,
walking words that tell
stories of freedom
and redemption.
we are poetry,
we are songs,
we are melodies
that are sung on
bright days.
we are the words of grace,
we are the words unforgotten,
we are words that remain.

Dear flower
They were wrong about you
You didn't bloom
You didn't need to
you're still beautiful
but they've ruined your image
With opportunities you were never  given
"Maybe next spring"
You hear those words over and over
There would be no other option
They've planted seeds in your mind
Of everything you've done wrong
But what about everything you've done right?
In your short life
You never reached their standards
But you've reached mine
To everyone who's  supported me, You're my flowers. You are loved. You are important.
