You see them as an apple a pip a twinkle
in your eyes, they are your strength with
there beauty and with a single word a tear
can fall from your eye. "I love you daddy,
They sit on your lap and are giving loving
embrace there listening to your words as if
there minds were a chase, to hear you speak
to learn from that man that they look up to
a superman without the dodgy red cape.
We teach them life lessons, the way we were
taught, but with our twist of the now, new
and improved. We teach them manners,
Please, pardon, thank you. they don't cost
anything but to some a simple few syllables.
We are the mirror they look upon to act upon,
to learn lessons for what we say and do is a
thought that stays within. be that guardian
but let them be free, for they are our legacy
that we cherish with smiles and love.
For those fathers where that moment has
happened, where those footsteps no longer
come down the hall calling your name.
I'm so sorry for your loss but believe me they
loved you even though words never spoke.
Know that every moment they were here
a little prince or princess, there here in
the metaphorical aspect. You saw them held
them in your arms, called them their name.
They still love you even though there not here.
But last on my lists are the fathers that aren't,
those not there for there little ones to hold them tall,
not respect the seed that you brought to this
world. Know the mother can be a father too,
she'll teach them everything from right & wrong.
Know that man that even though wasn't there at
birth, will be that substitute that you never where,
never wanted to be one. Never bored of teaching them
with mothers wishes, listening through there tears
and what you never could be,
And one day will call this stranger daddy not you.
"Happy Fathers Day,
*"They are our smiles, our calling to teach,
