Brittle
Quiet humming
Subtle drumming
Life

Glass
Crystal clear
Colored, queer
Heart

Strong
Dense packed
Rock solid
Lie

Broken
Shattered
Soul

Glimmering specks so near yet far.
Eternal lights of oblique mortality.
Head in the clouds, feet on the ground.
Maintained grasp of reality.

Gone for a millennia,
not missed till now.
Longer time for the telegram
than a cosmic curtsy, intergalactic bow.

What once would guide to freedom,
has been freed of its slavery.
What always seemed to be,
is gone for eternity.

Never miss what was already gone,
until it’s gone forever.
A supernova realization of one’s mortality,
False Bravado to sever.

The monster crawls out
the depths of the sea.
Mountain ranges it climbed
How could it be.

The beast tears through
the visage of man.
The Bravado is clear
with broken ties to clan.

How horrible it must seem,
to still be unfazed.
Man thought himself strong,
his world was razed.

The Monster, a beast,
The destroyer, a freak.
Society comes crashing down,
questioning who’s meek.

Oh, sunshine, an eclipse has shown you true
In your warmth roses grew, but in cold they freeze
Send me searching, grow my garden anew
Love blown away, thin, leaves in the autumn breeze
Away with thee, foul torturer, begone
Malefic specter of my hope filled dream
Foul Raven causing my visions to wan
My life, my love, from my heart do you ream
Once, you a dove, a symbol of my love
But since, your pristine feathers have turned black
A gift, from the dark pit to which you shove
Not enough on my barren field you track
Even though you hurt, destroy, and you maim
Impossible, I find, to give you blame

With the ever present dichotomy
The nature of mankind
Giving devils and angels a safe-house
For the soulless to find

Evil possessing the demons we see
Or is evil possessed
The good we see because humanity
And angels cannot care

Quickly we jump to make accusations
But how can that be fair
Shirking responsibility because
The shame we cannot bear

Our demons we must absolve ourselves of
Or dark our future grows
Let us manifest righteousness and love
We can become angels

Ant
A scrawny ant
Passing through
Passing by
To find life true

By all accounts
In attempt
Quite feeble
Held in contempt

Resist nature
To fight back
To love hope
Cope with his lack

His home crumbled
Upturned life
Hold to dreams
Battling strife

A beach used to be here,
or so it was said
as rumbling trains
on the tracks,
close behind our heads,
ignoring or unaware of its
foolhardy guests.
From high above
the soft river waves
can be seen shambling toward the shore.
And from such perspective
can industry be ignored.
No trains,
no tracks,
just rolling green bluffs.
And on some days,
on the semi-stagnant waters below,
can the sky and forests
give their likeness
to the river beneath.
How long
can such perfect beauty last?
Amongst the destructive ingenuity of man?
So many would hope
for it last the eternity
that is their life.
But eternity it's not.
