Ophelia Oct 2014
I put the knife hanging over my heart in your hands
I thought you would keep it safe
But either you didn't care enough
Or I pushed myself to close to you
Either way I made a mistake and
Now I pay for it every day
But especially on Thursdays
And also every Saturday
And always at noon
And even more at 4 AM
But most of all whenever I see you.
Found this in my journal, it's probably from a few months ago
Ophelia Sep 2014
It's nearly midnight
On another Monday's eve
And I have so much work left undone
Yet the first thought on my mind
Is of your sleeping form
And that perfume you always wear
And the way you'd lace your fingers
Through mine and press your lips
To my hand before whispering "goodnight"

I should be working on something
But the first thought on my mind
Is of you
As is the second
And all that follow

I'm sorry I took your virginity, it's just that
I was so sad and we were so drunk and you were so eager,
and I kind of thought it was cute that it was your first time
and it kind of went to my head that you wanted me to be your first,
and you were warm when I was cold
and you were dry when I was drowning
and now I fear that I've chilled you and drug you into the water with me,
and do your bones ache like mine yet?

You left bruises on my thighs;
that's not a metaphor,
I have blue splotches where you held me
and I've never been ****** like that,
never been ****** like I was supposed to enjoy it.
You were the first person to ever care if I was comfortable,
you were the first person I ever laughed with during ***,
you were the first person I ever laid with afterwards
and you let me hold your hand and rest my head on your chest
and your heart was beating so hard
and the room was dark
until we had to find our clothes scattered on the floor,
and you laughed when I tried to hide myself
and I guess it's just easier for me to show myself when the lights are off,
when you can't see my scars,
Jesus Christ I hope you didn't see my scars,
those are the only piece of myself I care about keeping private.

You dropped me off at home later
and as I got out of the car you thanked me and I just laughed
because I didn't know how to say that
I don't want you to think of it as a favor,
I didn't ******* out of pity,
I ****** you out of loneliness and ***** and cold hands,
and I'm sorry I took your virginity but you were the best I ever had.

The moon lulled itself
Into few second-long naps,
The winds whispered the smell
Of the oncoming rains
As ants did a tight-rope
On the tree's sleeves.
The dog pricked its ears,
Each time the tiny hurricane
Of dried leaves whirled round.
The spider attempted to balance itself
On the maze of its own making,
As the web threads strummed
A happy tune
In response to the wind.
The lull before the storm,
Was becoming too much of a bulk
For the clouds to bear,
Before a slant of water droplets,
(Some drying midway through
The atmosphere's layers,)
Stamped their arrival
On the parched layers
Of land, leaves and minds.
Streaks of lightning
Conducted a survey
On the distribution of downpour
Clicking vintage tinted photographs.
The rains slowed down to a drizzle,
The insects buzzed through a banter,
The moon tried to
Sneak through the clouds,
Surprised at its reflection
In a puddle on the street.
The morning wakes up
Smelling a misty presence
Of the (previous) night it rained.

20something
i've heard that drunk words are sober thoughts,
and you are on my mind right now.
a cheap 80 proof runs through my veins,
my tongue loose with the truths that I can't face in the light;
and just like that last shot I took,
I know I will regret this in the morning.
but I've come too far to go back now.
time is running out before my eyes,
and I ache to kiss you to fill our unfinished sentences,
yet the taste of you is far too intoxicating
and I will never be satisfied with just one moment

I want to kiss you under a thousand stars
As any thing less just won't do
But above all else
I miss you
