Was I lost in thoughts of love
When I closed my eyes? He
Appeared, and
Had I known it for a dream
I would not have awakened.
15k
I have a full beard
Finely combed and shiny
that's why when I walk,
I walk with shoulder high
When I smile or laugh
It radiates and awaken dead soul
I have a full beard
it covers the skin blemishes
it makes me handsome,
humane and not a terrorist
my beards make me proud
it brings happiness and sheds depression
I'd have it over all the wealth in this world, cause Islam says so
Note, I speak bearable English
sibe sibe omo yoruba nimi pelu
i majored in law
So you need not utter disrespect
I pray five times daily, read the quran
Every good reward I earn is mine
I follow the hadith and sunnah
And no, that's not a crime!
You all gossip as I walk by
You hate my beard because you don't understand at all
But peace and power I have found
As I am equal to any male!
I am a Muslim
So please don't pity me
For God has guided me to truth
And now I'm finally free!

Used to be, that i could walk down to the store and grab some milk...
...It's too far
Used to be, that I could wash all my clothes and then put them away...
...It's too hard
Used to be that I could walk & run,
Right a task list, get it done,
Plan a night out, have some fun,
But now I can't, and I feel so dumb.
Example A, my laundry, begging for OMO,
***** clothes, still lying on the floor.
Plain clothes waiting patiently for the cupboard,
So far, it's been at least five days, or more.
But I try, then I sigh, now, I cry.
Motivation for myself?
That is no more
Motivation for others?
I'll find a way to the door
I wake up in the morning and I can't raise my head
Unless a friend needs my help, then I'll get out of bed
But if I'm the one calling, then the phone's always dead.
Please evict this depression,
Please just send it away
Because I'm so sick of asking:
"What's the point of today?"
Why do I bother to stay?

Fàdéshéwà!
Omo baba é,
Born with a silver spoon
Your fun will end soon.
Fàdéshéwà!
Oko Maama é,
All rods were spared
But she was ruined by her peer
Fàdéshéwà!
Omo Oba,
The beauty of our land
Now cursed by the gods.
Fàdéshéwà!!
The most beloved
Clothed with pride
From your fall you can never hide.
Fàdéshéwà!
Please make us proud.
That was her mama's cry
Yet she would not even try.
Fàdéshéwà!
Ranti omo eni ti iwo nse
Her father warned
But she refuses to fàdé shéwà.

THE GREAT COUNTRY
Adebayo Samuel Ogunleye~ The GreatQuill🖋️
Silent I wished to remain,
But alas, my speakfire cried aloud:
“I shall speak and speak—
Speak of that great country,
That great country,
With oceans of wisdom,
Yet wandering the streets of futility.
Speak of that great country,
That great country
Flowing with honey;
Yet honey for only a few palates,
While bitterness lingers
Upon the lips of many.
Speak of that great country,
That great country
That gives so generously,
Yet lacks in abundance
The very things it gives away.
I sought to calm my speakfire,
But alas, it cried again,
Yearning to weep even more.
‘Speak on, speak on,’ I replied.
Speak of that great country,
That great country
That suffered under its conquerors,
And after their departure,
Became captive to self-conquerors.
Speak of that great country,
That great country,
Bearing “Giant” as its title,
Yet, unfortunately fortunate,
A title that scarcely fits
Its present condition.
Speak of that great country,
That great country
That gives you oromodiye,
Yet in return
Takes away odidi omo.
Speak of that great country,
That great country,
Which outwardly appears
Goodly bad,
And inwardly seems
Best at being worse.
Speak of that great country,
That great country,
Rich in countless treasures,
Yet wallowing in penury.
And so my speakfire speaks
Of that great country—
My great country.

A Poem: "Amotekun Dee"
"Kere oh, Omode gbo. T'agba gbo"
"Oba ni kin wi fun yin oh!"
"Amotekun deeeeeeeee"
"Eyin omo Odua, ee gbo mi bi?"
"Irorun de, omi tun tun wo lu"
"Eyin temi aji lala osho. Eyin Omo okun Esin"
"Won ma sare kabakaba"
"Mo wi re, tabitha mi o wi re?"
"Amotekun deeeeeee"
We will block the gap and protect all and sundry
We'll patrol with Eagle eyes
It shall be "No nonsense here" in our region
With robust intelligence gathering and network
And we will proceed with extreme caution
Within the ambits of the law shall we operate
There shall be no sleep for the wicked
Peace, it has long eluded our lands
We have been invaded by uncircumcised Philistines
But not anymore, "O to geeee"
Who else knows our terrain better than our locals
You got a pass mark my Governors
And I am proud to be "Ofe mmanu""
"Ejo, ema je wo ni owo osu oh!"
Lest they begin to see friends as foes
"Amotekun de...Oju eje...."
"Iyalaya gbogbo won"
"Koni kaluku di omo Iya re mu.."
"A ko fosi rara nile Odua"
"Awi fun won ti ti, won jo gbo"
Odua a gbewa ooo.
"Oya, awon daaa? Gbefunwon kososhi"
Why carry guns when we can enchant them?
We have been pushed to the wall
Our hands on the plough, no going back
"This one no be se re se re"
"Omoluabi is a talk and do"
We stoop and let them trample on us"
Little do they know we are fooling the fools
Those who thinks they are fooling us
Watch it, we can be cunning and deceitful
But when it comes to our collective goal
The bond that binds us strong
And our walls, a mighty fortress
In a nutshell, "Ki eku ile gbo o"
"Ko si so fun to ojo oh"
We are regional and not tribal
We will listen before we judge
We will treat all fairly as our ancestors did
We will not allow the "Cobra Effect" permeate Amotekun
This, we all know, is peace at last!
Passing Amotekun bill is a legislative masterstroke
For all who saw this to fruition
May "Eledumare" grant you all your "positive" heart desires
"Mo wi re, tabi mi o wi re bi"
Amotekun deeee"

my first job,
i think i was about seven
was to do my grandfathers washing,
every saturday morning.
we had chores at home and got an allowance.
but this was a way to supplement it.
so every saturday,
i would ride across town, with my brothers and...
spray preen on stains,
scrub collars with solvol
measure out omo powders
then wait ten minutes
oftenat this time,
i would play with the cat, munster, who was my,
self-designated foreman.
then to start,
water and omo, into
the machine, an old twin tub
drop in the first load,
wait for it to process,
sitting on the laundry step, reading the latest book....
CS Lewis' Narnian series or Enid Blytons Famous Five.
you could only read,
at this point,
because after the first load had stopped washing,
it was into the spinner
and then it was,
a juggle of washing, spinning, filling water levels and getting the wet washing into the basket, without, dropping any.
now, i was still,
to short to hang out
the washing, on the hills hoist,
but i would call for my assistant, Aunty Barb
and off we would go down to the line .... she would hang...
but i would hand
items and pegs up to her.
once all the washing was done, all that was left was,
one final rinse,
of the machine with
lemon pin-o-cleen,
a wipe with a dry cloth
and my labours were done.
time for a cup of tea,
a peice of gingerbread
and payment of wages $3.50- $5.00
depending on the size
of the wash.

BLACK
I am black coz I walk under the sun all day!
I am black coz my anger dictates my tone!
I am black coz the police is my friend!
I am black coz ave swam in gutters and bath in rains!
I am black coz I rode tires and felt excited!
I am black coz mummy and daddy was my favorite game!
I am black coz of chike and the river!
I am black coz my best haircut was skin punk(molo)!
I am black coz I never wrote 1jamb!
I am black coz unilorin was always my 1st choice!
I am black coz OMO is what we call all detergent!
I am black coz of my village people!
I am black coz I tried making my own Airtime!
I am black coz every Noodles is indomie!
I am black coz I believe in God but juju is a back up!
I am black coz all shoe makers are aboki!
I am black coz ur fada is a big insult!
I am back coz up NEPA is a joy giver!
I am black coz I dnt shout back at my parents!
I am black coz I always go on strike!
I am black coz every Musa is a gateman!
I am black not because the mirror nor my skin tells me that but because I have experienced all this.
Black is not a colour but an identity!!!

you are my adorable pearl, the one i long for every blessed day and night.
your love lightens my soul and kindles it with melody for your sweetness in excess.
and just like the night stars catches the attention of every eyes, you became the cynosure of my hopeful eyes.
it is as apparet as the breaking of a new dawn that i'm profoundly lost in the paradise of your unshakable and unatainted love.
Omo baba Medubi, only in the hearty glow of your soulful eyes, i findeth solace and tranquility

Oh! Africa!
Let me tell you
About my dearest Africa
The cradle of human civilization
The land of wonders!
Undoubtedly, the second most populous
Of all the continents
Where Gazzeles run to survive
And Lions pursue to feed
In a battle of survival
Let me tell you about Africa
Covering six percent of earths surface
Home to Nelson Mandela
And greats like Fela Anikulapo Kuti
But for Ethiopia and Liberia
We were all colonised
Introduced to foreign gods and culture
In all these occurrence
We never forgot Africa!
170millon of us speak Arabic
130million speak French
With over 2000 different languages
We are the kings of diversity
Let me tell you about Africa
Where we hold the ace
As the hottest continent on earth
Surely, a noble bragging right!
Go back to your history books
Let's set the record straight
Africa is not a country
Neither do we live on trees
It is a blessed and peculiar continent
Let me tell you about Africa
Where our only problem is governance
And corruption reigns supreme
Oh! Africa! My Africa!
Wait a second!
Are you planning a getaway?
Visit the Omo River in Ethiopia
The birthplace of Emperor Halie Selasie
Would you like to track Gorillas?
Then would love it
The Virunga Mountains of DR Congo
It is worth all your penny
The breathe taking scenery
That Zanzizar offers
Will make you relocate to Africa
Surely we are
The real Ministers of Enjoyment
If you want a birds view
Of our beautiful continent
Make it to the tallest mountain in Africa
Mountain Kilimanjaro, Tanzania
It stands at 19,340feet
Kenya reminds you of nature
Cape Town, our most beautiful City
The Mummies and Pyramids of Egypt
And the delicacies of Calabar, Nigeria
It is appointed to die once
But before you do
Visit our beautiful continent
Your life will never remain the same
That your education may be complete
And I hope this inspires you!

No going back
We will defend our pride
Our heritage
Our fatherland
Not with guns, powder nor machetes
Not with armoured carriers
But with powers ancestral
We will visit Egungun Oya
The god of divination
We will invoke Mawu
The god of the Sun and Moon
Have you heard about Babalu aiye?
The god of infectious diseases
Let the games begin
Omoluabi oooo! Omoluabi oh!!
"Bo ba d'ogun; ko d'ogun"
Where is Sango, the god of thunder?
"Gunugu ni oruko, ti an pe Ifa?"
"Okalamagbo ni oruko ti an pe awon Iya oshoronga"
"Abiamo ki gbo ekun omo re",
"Ki o ma ta si were"
"Oya, Amotekun oooo"
When the walls of Jericho fell
How many bullets were shot?
They stood on their father's faith
How was Judah and Jerusalem taken?
The red sea parted by the word
We too, shall speak the word
But now, the words our Ancestors
When the centre can no longer hold
Surely, things will fall apart
"Omo Yoruba, ronu"
Enough! No longer shall our lands be desecreted
Cast the cowries in the calabash
Let us inquire of our gods
Shall we pursue and reclaim?
Ready, set, "Amotekun dee"

(in naija broken english aka pigin)
in these varying decision times
i just dey on a low
nor be say the matter tire me
i suggest say, i just dey distracted.
as Roe dey fight Wade
conje dey para for me.
omo, na next from one babe then unto another
na ee be the motive,
sadly this lifestyle na everything but
extravagantly ****
as dem dey pursue Trudeau
na so i dey chase down my destiny,
na when i go take mind re-write
this exam wen dey in front of me?
for naija, election matter dey make man japa
my timeline say na Peter Obi go be their papa,
funny enough i get this feeling say
we dun dey reach the moment wen things go better,
like say this summer na "turn around season".
the true be say, either politics or breakfast
las las everybody dey fight somethin.
the true be say if you dey para, you go have to rise above it.
the true be say, na only God get remedy.
e dun pass time when we go dey look persin for face
e dun reach time when we must to carry matter for head.

Bewaji "Omo Jogunomi"
"Omo Odua, Omoluabi"
Your simplicity intrigues me
Your six "Shuku" braids
Adorned with petals of royalty
Fit for a royalty like you
Represents all Oodua enclaves
In a fortnight, I shall bring you gifts
From the evil forests no man dares
Therefrom, I shall bring you "Ori Kiniun"
In your name shall I conquer territories
And name them after "Eni bi Okan mi yan"
I am the "Ogboju Ode Inu Irumole"
The only man fit for a goddess like you
Bewaji oh!
I shall call forth fire upon your foes
Even without a degree in water engineering
I will I pave a way from the stream to your house
Build you a fortress as high as Jericho
Because you Bewaji are my treasure
"Eledumare''s" greatest mortal creation
Don't cry for me if I die in this cause
You can put it on love so deep, so true
I strongly desire and adore you my "Bewaji"
My World who wakes up with beauty
Give me a shot from your *******
And my life will not remain the same ever again
Now, tell me, who is your "Bewaji?"
