The Architect Apr 2020
A challenge was set before me,red rose blooming,
But my feet refused to take a step towards the danger,
my hands refused to hold onto the rose,
although my heart wanted to.

My fingers could've bled,
and blood could've been sweet,
The pain would've torn me,
I would've found meaning as well.

I was ****** to be a lover of chaos,
destructive idealism,
and moonlight.

Born as a child of nature,
born and died, and will live again,
Mighty fragile and weak,
but inside is what flames are missing.

Familiar with all,
I awaken with a thirst for freedom,
In it I am caged,
just to feel the purity of this life.
This poem is the consequence of growing up too fast.

And don't wonder
With every new wrinkle
A change awaits

Gradually
We incline
Towards
The Sun
The Moon
And the stars
At the end

Theme: True Value Of Life

Sometimes I wish I could go back,
To when I was a child, innocent and young,
To that dream like perspective, safe from
Pressure and responsibility,
When the world was bright and beautiful

How a simple walk through the neighborhood,
Brought excitement with the sight of,
The little birds,
Perched atop the liquor store,
Or the towering plan trees,
High above our heads

How the same sights,
Now ignored and meaningless,
As we walk by, now chasing 'dreams',
Now walking through the bleak abyss of maturity.

That took less time than I thought

- got old real quick

This is taking longer that they said

- still not grown up

Memories aren't what they used to be.
A sunny spin on what happened to me
Hid the truth of pain
From which there was no gain
Other than the mastery of denial
That kept me going for a while
Until delayed maturity helped me realise
That we all work so hard to idealise
Those excitingly messy parts of life
That cut a thousand painless cuts.

A small girl
With dreams and ambitions
Stuffed in her backpack
Humming, she waits while staring
At the other side of the station
Where people, different ages and stories
Wait for the same train

She is alone, it doesn't bother her
It is life that is in front of her
Life that is one way and short
Life that passes by in a blink of eye
Life that is worthwhile, even if painful
Life that is young, yet old
Life that is the way it is meant to be

The train she's waiting for came suddenly
It's time to pack up and leave this station
Life must go on, even if it rains
The memory of youth and a simple world
Isn't just the place for her anymore
This is for her own good, destination bound
To a new home
Adulthood
