that'd I would fall in love
with a boy with sleepy eyes
and a smile like a sunrise

refreshing sunrises
uplifting stars
rain washing away
the old year

a new year
a new chance to be happy
a new chance to be positive

A Fresh Start

there are bugs on my pillow case
And flowers in my sheets
Every time I close my eyes
It's your face that I see

I miss your touch
I miss your kiss
I miss your glowing eyes

I wish I could be taken back
To a different time

There are so many poems about sadness
Some about crying
Some about boys
Some about dying

But

There should be more about happiness
Some about dancing in the rain
Some about letting it all go
Some about being free of pain

So go ahead and write about anything and everything
that brings you happiness

your cuddles
and your kisses
and your undivided attention

to be the queen
of your world

I want
you to notice
when I'm not near you

I want
to be loved
by you and you alone

You seemed like a good idea at 3am

I sit here
silently eating blackberries
trying to picture
the way your face looks
right after I kiss you

I tried to paint
that smile once
but it came out looking
like a sunrise

you were like my favorite sweater
but
I couldn't help but pull
at all your loose threads
so i could watch you unravel
stitch by stitch


now i'm left wishing that i had learned how to sew

i used to
love you more than i love myself
now you can't
even look me in the eyes

your cruel remarks
still cut deep
but
i will never let you know

I was sort of like the moon
Not always complete
But always shining bright

I saw something bright
Out of the corner of my eye

Shining even brighter than me
You let your light
Touch everything around you
So loving
So trusting
So wonderful

Your warm light touched my skin
And I had a feeling
That you weren't as complete
As you appeared to be

But once we began to bask in each other's glow
It was suddenly alright that we weren't whole

I first fell in love
with your smile
then your eyes
then your soul

what a strange feeling
you gave me a look
and hornets started buzzing around in my stomach
you reached for my hand
and my heart felt like it was being squeezed
your lips brushed mine
and i just about melted

being in love is

You can find me in a room where the floor is carpeted with pine needles and the roof is the night sky
You can try to take me home but I won't know where that is
You will ask me where I came from and I will not reply
You will feel sorry for me and I will wonder why
I have been lost for so long I do not mind anymore

she emerges from the misty clouds
like a ghost from your past
watching your skin
reflect her light
watching your soul
as it angers and loves
watching your mind
learn from its mistakes
watching your hands
leave their mark on this earth

smell like rosemary and take your coffee black

say my name in a singsong voice and remember the curve of my neck

dance like no one's watching and listen to the birds talk

have a fiery temper and read under the big oak tree

he called me his flower
and he was my sun
but now the clouds have come
and i am

how dare you stand there oblivious to the fact that you make my heart want to jump out of my chest and into your waiting hand.

how dare you glance at me for only a second and make every inch of my skin feel like it's on fire.
