I hope each kiss
passes through your throat
and down into your body
and reaches your soul
because that’s what my lips
crave the most.

You are
a storm
and I am
the sea.

You fuel both
the anger
and serenity
in me.

It’s hard to pack up
old bags and make a new home

You can fall in love
with the way
someone pours milk
into their cereal,
listening to the things they speak about
when they sleep talk
at three in the morning,
and by watching them untangle
earphones, which somehow
seems to be their biggest challenge
of the day.

You can fall in love
examining the face they make
when they try to hold back laughter,
if they put their head or their arms
through a sweater first,
and the way they shiver
when it is 23 degrees outside
and they are only wearing
a leather jacket
while drowning in a
thick red scarf.

You can fall in love.
You can fall in love.
You can fall in love.

And you will fall in love
with all of that.

I want to take you
on road trips
and hold conversations
under the big blue skies.
I want to drive endlessly
down empty roads
in the middle of the night,
park in the middle of nowhere
so we can watch the stars shine.
You are the only one
that can call me at 3 AM
and I will be more than okay with it
for I would rather
hear your voice than
catch up on episodes that I’ve missed.
Because when it comes to you
the pieces just seem to fit.

I can see galaxies in your eyes
and hear waves crashing onshore
whenever you speak.
And I wish to tell you
that I think the one for you,
is me

Exaggeration is a writer’s best friend,
aside from a paper and pen.

If it’s a only a small river,
we see a massive sea
and when they turn around,
we watch them leave.
There is one cloud
but we see the whole sky,
they say hellos and
we only hear that one goodbye.

Exaggeration is a writer’s best friend,
we don't notice beginnings, we write of the end.

Even though
you are the one
who left me
stranded and
short of breath,
I still wish
you were here to
hold my hands
while I am going through
this sea of troubles
I am drowning in.

I wish you
were here to
teach me
how to swim.
