The last autumn leaf had fallen.
A gust had taken it off its perch
and sent it earthbound.
It relished its slowed descent
only to be cradled by the ***** of the ground.

Then winter had been upon us.
Leaving us cold, desolate and empty.
Loneliness wielded a reckless brush
and had painted the backdrop
of our minds with vast whiteness
accentuated by the greys of uncertainty.

The leaf froze and crumbled to dust.
Just as we would have if not for
the mantra of hope.
Of which,
dreams might again spring forth.
Engulfing and taking us home.

We'd journey through scented spring -
soaking up the amber of days
and the fragrance of flowered fields.
We'd run our fingers over the tops of tall
dew-peppered grass.

We sing the same chorus
as we turn our heads towards
the suns of summer.
A haven where we believe all is hale
and the fires in our hearts
will once again be rekindled.
We left pieces of ourselves inside the pit
We had no choice but to leave behind,
It was die there together
Or barely find our way out alive.

We emerged,
Found ourselves still breathing.
But bruised, battered, broken.
And worst of all,
Without each other.
My darling,
I am here to tell you not to waste your time
searching for the woman you want to be in the wrong men
Because you'll lose every bit of the woman you are
every time you climb their beds
and give them the loving they never intend on returning
People say you fall in love
I like to think I flew.
The only fall I've ever felt
Is getting over you.

Late nights, short poems, and working through the same feelings in different memories.

Day
my words have had little meaning lately
rushed and harsh
like a quickie in a poorly lit parking lot
meaningless and soon forgotten
but spoken for a reason
like the motives behind that backseat moment
wanted and waited for
but looking for something much deeper
something rooted and real
but
impatient and unknowing
just taking whatever comes first
and yes,
words and *** are not the same
but I want them both
in the exact same way

Undone

Pathways opened
through doors unhinged

Journey travelled
with roads unworn

Magic unbound
from spells unchanted

Heartbeats birthed
but the heart's unborn

Verses recited
from a poem unpenned

A song sung
but lyrics unwritten

A dance performed
with routine unrehearsed

Feelings perceived
through words unspoken
you looked at me in my eyes,
and there was no fear
of what you'd find.

you saw the ruin left behind;
the damage, and destruction,
the brokenness I tried to hide.

And I waited for you to run;
away from my shadows,
and into the sun.

But then you told me,
there's a special beauty to the night;
because only then can you see stars
and in the darkness
they've created their own light
