--To D. F.

I watched you saunter down the sand:
Serene and large, the golden weather
Flowed radiant round your peacock feather,
And glistered from your jewelled hand.
Your tawny hair, turned strand on strand
And bound with blue ribands together,
Streaked the rough tartan, green like heather,
That round your lissome shoulder spanned.
Your grace was quick my sense to seize:
The quaint looped hat, the twisted tresses,
The close-drawn scarf, and under these
The flowing, flapping draperies--
My thought an outline still caresses,
Enchanting, comic, Japanese!
I looked, once,
up into a sky
grey, and milky
white. My mind
spun along
trails of
unconscious
thought,
brief and fleeting
as the zephyr
that occasionally
brushed my face..
my eyes slid shut,
and my lips
curved, into
the smallest of
smiles, as I sat
there, still, empty
...calm, and content,
as the gentle
breath of the
west ruffled
my hair,
gently, and
from my fingers,
dropped a
band of gold,
down, into
the abyss below...
down, as I
stand, and
turning,
walk away
from that place,
and I am
happy,
as I go,
leaving
that
memory of
love,
that place
of
beginnings,
and of
ends,
softly,
as we part,
equals, the
silence,
and I.
At last.
At last...
A lingering thought, a memory, of forgotten pasts, of futures, unknown, perhaps. Judge it as you will.
In sign o' the times
Was when doves cried
As the purple rain fell

Today I realized that all bodies are beautiful and strong because they have the power to transport our souls.
We walk through the woods.
The wind in our hair.
Childlike.
Almost skipping.
Walking on air.
Kisses of sunshine.
Such delight to be there.
Hands clasped together.
Unity.
Sensing feelings that flow, so electrically charged.
Meeting of eyes.
Greeting of minds.
Cultivating roses of our own making.
Freshly pruned.
Shapely creations.

Like a puzzle
Frustrating, beautiful,
And in the end fulfilling
Finding the right words
The right thing to say
That helps you express
The way you want to be

Like a bestfriend
A confidant
Pouring your soul out
Because you can
Your fears
Your desires
Your problems
Your choices

Like a snowflake
Always new
Always different
Always unique
Not one is alike

Like a child’s dream;
An ice cream shop
So many choices
Too many choices
You want them all
You hate them all
You can’t have them all

Like a piece of art
Whether paint or clay
Different formats
Different colors
Different shapes
And different sizes

Like an orchestra
All different sounds
Coming together
To make one big,
Beautiful, enthralling
And emotional sound

Because poetry is poetry
Everything works
Everything fits
Nothing is wrong
Nothing is right
Just freedom
In words
wind rocking the night
shakes fences
unbolts wooden gates

                                         falling rose petals
                                         pirouette
                                         across unmown grass

morning unwraps me
rolling sleep
onto sunlit floors
My first attempts at the "lune" format of 5-3-5 syllables

When we were younger,
we never wanted to be alone
When we were more fragile,
we easily get attached to simple
gesture and things
Our immature minds
told us without someone,
we can't survive
and when losing that someone
was too hard to take,
We locked our doors and closed
the curtains
Until we grew up
there's not even a ray of
sunshine that came in our lives
only because we chose not to let
anyone in.
