The merging of souls
Lauren Stead Jul 2014
I bend him.
bend him around me,
around my thoughts,
around my body,
I take his space and make it my own,
move him around my presence,
I integrate myself ,
gradually take control,
I move, he moves,
I dance, he dances,
it's an intricate step, easily tangled,
but keep the balance and everything shifts imperceptibly,
every action with its counterpart,
an island becoming one with the sea.

Tick Tock
Lauren Stead Jun 2014
The waiting is consuming,
It's a constant ticking clock,
Every second lasts an hour,
All else has been forgot.
The phone is at my fingertips,
The checking never stops,
But the light remains unblinking,
Keeping silent in its thoughts.
The longing grows unthinkable,
It's a pounding in the heart,
The butterflies are frantic
All hope is nearly lost.
I'm sitting on the edge of time,
It's racing slowly fast,
Waiting for just one small word,
Abandonment of any costs.
But it's unlikely that the wait,
Will bring the sweet hello,
The simple sound I'm waiting for,
For you to just say so.

Drifter
Lauren Stead Jun 2014
Breathe,
Deep breaths,
Shallow,
A sense,
Surreal.
Every thought,
As if a dream,
Emotionless,
Every sense of reality,
All feeling,
Gone.
Drifting,
Like the breeze,
With no direction,
To meaning.
Floating,
Between the shapes,
Unable to determine,
The truth.

And then we were gone
Lauren Stead Jun 2014
We're standing in the rain,
As it's thundering around us,
Yet I don't hear a thing,
The world so oddly still.

The turmoil and the pain,
Shared from your eyes to mine,
Reflected in the storm,
Winds howling in the sky.

We're standing at the beginning,
The minutes, months and years,
Flashing before our eyes,
Until the door is closed.

I still feel the pain, the heartache,
when you ripped my heart in two,
I was falling for so long,
After the day I found you.

You left my emotions reeling,
Head spinning, so confused,
Couldn't catch my breathe,
From running after you.

Don't know where the time went,
Or how it went so wrong,
As the storm reaches its crescendo,
I turn and then we're gone.

Hopelessly Waiting
Lauren Stead Jun 2014
She stands there,
Head pressed against the cool glass,
Looking down into the hall.
He's sitting at a plastic table,
Laughing with his friends.
"Like me, please like me, look up if you like me,"
She whispers under her breath.
He turns, waves over a friend.
But doesn't look up,
He never looks up.
She stands, waiting, watching.
Her whispered chant, her mantra,
A silent desperate plea.
He won't look up.
He doesn't even know she's there.
His eye's on someone else.
Her long *****-blonde hair.
Catching her eye, he winks.
While above she's waiting.
Praying, hopelessly hoping,
To be on the other side of his stare.
