planets sprout from the ground
venus is picked up by a boy with nothing but good intentions
stars fall from the sky, and i reach out my tongue to taste them
i tell you i think we need to learn how to
dance in the stars,
tiptoe through the milky way,
tap dance along the constellations
we walk on ceilings here
and we sleep when the sun comes up
everything is backwards
upside down
flipped on its head
we walk on clouds
and we smile when we are sad,
and you tell me you love me
you have always loved me
you will always love me
everything is backwards.

Burden

Here stands a man
A shadow of himself
Burdened by guilt
And failing health

Yet on the outside
You would fail to see
The trauma and pain
That resides within me

My apparent smile
Is perceived as joy
A simple disguise
I like to employ

My social disdain
Is seen in reflection
Yet...I masquerade
To avoid your attention

But as time passes by
The cracks, they appear
Leaking my soul
Through a solitary tear

Keeping a distance
Is the only way
To stop the trauma
Releasing today
Write
Write ‘til it feels good
Write about nothing
Write to learn something
Write to teach something
Write to yourself
Write to a stranger
Write to a friend
Write to get something off your chest
Write what would freak people out if you said it out loud
Write what you want to say out loud
Write about the universe
Write about yourself
Write ‘til you hate it
Write to get the hate out
Write like you’re not afraid someone will read it
Write like you’re keeping a secret
Write like you mean it
Write like it’s worthless

Like hope hidden in a cynic,
Like belief hidden in an atheist,
The pain hidden in your smile
Is what makes it so mesmerising

Ameliorate
His eyes,
Burned into the deep backwoods of my mind,
Calling out to me even more with the passing of time.

Secretly glancing over at you,
Desperate to know if your eyes want mine too.

We met in the place Allan Watts had his lectures
And Henry Miller sat in the corner brooding,
Writing brilliance
Decades ago
I imagine Joan Baez washing rust off her skin
Overlooking the ocean
Diamonds in her eyes inspired by "sin"
In the same place we spoke about men
And I remember my male friend leaving
Because this conversation was not for him
Debating about ****** relations, you taught me
To ask my body if I wanted to go all in
Close your eyes
Checking in with the root, navel,
stomache, heart, throat and mind
Visualizing the act
Do you really want him to be inside?
And when I did this exercise
the answer was NO

Then I met another man
And did the same exercise again
This time, every time I thought about his
Entrance anywhere
My body throbbed, tingled, and rocked
Into the greatest guitar solo
I've ever felt
My body ever played by his fingers
My neck tuned to his mouth
YES, he may enter....
The greatest desire
