Like dancing lights
And fluttering sprites;
Multiplying together
And dividing apart.

They rend the veil of night,
Creating a short-lived spectacle
Before these stars take flight.
I’m not actually talking about literal stars. This poem came to mind when I was driving to practice and saw the headlights of two opposing cars, seemingly merging together around the bend. I maybe wasn’t in the right state to drive ****...

Winter days falling near
And pedals dancing upon the rain.
What I wouldn't give to
Have you here,
To the bloom of lilacs
Encased in frosted snow.

Chasing
A long-forgotten mist.
Running
On Lævateinn’s edge.

The final sprint
Just seconds away
Tedium envelopes my being,
While my flames fade to gray.

I should’ve known
You’d feed me to the forest floor again
I’ve read medieval tales,
Guessed each gluttonous end
The maiden dies by the sword of her love,
Or resigns to playing pretend
I won’t stubbornly awaken
I won’t touch my flesh
To your jagged, poison edge

Your iron briars wither
Down to their sharpest point
Through the deepest wood and bone
They slice

Erian Rose
It was his sunset-painted heart,
dulcet-washed eyes, and
his contagious laughter that
makes my mornings
and anxiety-filtered moments
spark little fires
deep inside.

The stars all look brighter in the sky
Sometimes i get so lonely I could—

The darkest flares
Burn within the brightest bonfires.

Her lips tasted
of frosted
starlight
crystal eyes
fixed on mine
she could
wish upon
a falling star
and I'd never stop
loving her

I was gripped
By time,
Encased as
A moment in a
Photograph.
Illuminated by
The flash of lightning
Shutter
Where the raindrops
Never quite meet
The ground
And my smile never dims
Or falls
Or falters.

Getting old

The face in the mirror
the look in the eye's
that reflection ain't me it's just a disguise
the fading of hair
the wrinkles that bend
it's just a life story that's told on my skin
this man in the mirror he ain't really me
their's a child inside that want's to be free
that woman of mine you could say she's the same
sometimes in the covers we laugh and play games
but as I get old and my life bears thin
I think of the fun
and think of the friends
so you could say i'm kind of bold
it's just a part of getting old
A poem my dad wrote on his 45th birthday
we all thought it was funny but truth is
I think it was the greatest one he ever wrote
