Glass of Crystal Sand
Grassblade Dec 2013
Sledding, a white flurry of glitter
Glass trees throw soft needles a-sprinkle
A blissful silver rocket. It all flies by
Sparkles of diamond on the ceiling or sky

Radiant light, its fate to be wrinkled
by the dim labyrinth of this shining prism.
Gray aurora, dancing in the diamond rain

Iron curtains hide the truth
Glass and pains of steel, in a prism of gray
Do you see windows or mirrors?
All I see, a magnificent pane

A merry toast! To all I say cheers,
with a smile worth its years.
Lift your brittle glass as you would lift a curse.
And drink heartily from the once molten, crystal sand.

Drink the guile and drink the hate
Drink the lies of shame and berate
Drink to see that a flower in  gray
is a prism for life, not a fancy bouquet.

The gentlest whispers
Grassblade Oct 2015
Times when you do me wrong,
I beckon you towards me,
towards my naked ****,
and whisper, softly..
softly whisper..
in your naked ear,
the gentlest whispers.
if you dont think this is about passing gas then you're reading it too fast

Resolution
Grassblade Dec 2013
May my adversaries be strong,
     so I may become stronger

May luck be against me,
so I may learn to be certain

May fate present no opportunities,
so I may forge my own

May I never succeed,
so I may live to my fullest potential

May I reach perfection,
     Through my resolve.
Just in time for the new year.

Roots
Grassblade Dec 2013
Grass roots, delved into soil,
     Lives intertwined.
Blades pierce the air,
     Primal, refined.

Living on through each other,
     Gift of life, eternal.
Perpetual, unending,
     An endless, fractal.

Winter Tear
Grassblade Dec 2015
The spark -
lit in her eyes, the kindle.
A winter teardrop with
the weight of the ocean
soon to be between us.

The winter tear - holds for a moment -
frozen in time's grasp,
inevitably falls
slowly
to the ground.

with every inch

fire, in her eyes, grows.
And to the ground it goes

without a sound

Lost into the dust and dirt
of the cold, callous ground.

Pen, my sail.
Words, my anchor.
Love, my compass.
Thought, my glass...
About how consciously trying to write poems often just slows me down.

Rose Dive
Grassblade Jan 2016
Wade on top of roses,
not immersed in thorn and leaf

Time with people I learn to know, is,
   always far too brief

My heart is in a nose dive,
each new friend makes me bleed

But with each new wound, I,
   find isolation, what I need

To heal I must remain above,
   apart from what I seek

On top is where the flowers are,
   far from a lover's cheek.

Sweet Sorrow
Grassblade Dec 2013
How I love this delicious sweet!
So intoxicating is this treat,
That all who glance
Soon learn defeat.

I watch it motionless behind the glass
How I wish I could walk on past!
Alas, my tongue has stuck to the glass
Another invisible barrier

The comforting curse, the sweet sorrow.
We all long to find our tomorrow.
With it’s sugary coat and dripping enamel,
Makes me wonder how I could poison myself
With such a sorrow, as tomorrow.

Heart of the Phoenix
Grassblade Dec 2013
A thousand deaths, a thousand and one rebirths,
Of a fiery inferno, and a cloud of sparking ash

I’m ablaze and you are irresistible,
My heart radiates endlessly yet it is invisible.
-- -- --
When I see you, an icy hand of cold,
Chokes me with its arctic hold

You walk on by without a glance,
Day after day, as if in trance.

The pains of the heart dying eternally,
Always reborn with a hope of possibility.

Improvisation
Grassblade Aug 2014
Some thoughts too beautiful to ignore
Once expressed, produce only more
The music so sweet
Takes my helpless feet
Carries me down this path
And all I can do
is laugh

Remembrance
Grassblade Apr 2016
Poets bleed ink -

leaving dark stains
of bereavement and sorrow

opening their veins
for callous minds to follow

A single word -

chambered at the lips, and at last
loosed with an anchored sigh

Remembrance

Plot
Grassblade Dec 2015
the most amazing thought, is not
that I have a plot

the most amazing thought, i've got
is - I can plot what I want

freedom is the choice to grow
whichever seeds I choose to sow

in rain, shine, and storms divine
with pride I bide, and to the seeds provide

How lovely the sunlight
before it hits the window

The colored shade helps
find my stained recollection

Paints a picture,
of grandeur most saint

Please, guide us tainted souls
to your political patronage.

And lead us not into temptation
to emulate such masterful sin.
Those who set the rules know best how to break them

Let What May, Be
Grassblade Nov 2018
May
love find you, and
fear flee your name.
sadness steel you, and
courage bring you fame.

Let
love **** you, and
fear keep you sane.
sadness heal you, and
courage bring you pain.

Let be, all that may,
and suffer on another day.
Don't stop until you're finished

The untended **** can only grow
'til the roots take to stone
and it soon becomes known

Should a tug be its fate,
then a hole must be filled

even if the garden will.

in your garden heart
yet I was only a ****

mask of virtue
over a smooth brain
Grassblade Nov 2020
It has been a long, tumultuous voyage..  into complacent.. stagnant.. normalcy.

I've swum the tides of fortune, pleasure, knowledge.. and as they fall I can feel the dry sand, chafing my sanity.

I've seen wonders of the world, built to inspire - inevitably in vain. Opportunity and privilege have no purpose in a frozen museum of a life.

They snuck onto me covertly.. unnoticed. A lame onesie.. slightly too tight around the neck... obnoxiously, unnaturally colored for no reason.

I've cast off all semblance of any character I once had
and I lay here now in bed
In my plebian pajamas and with my flaccid life.
