Reflection

What is a fortified castle secure, beautiful.
What is a prison.
What is liberating, freedom at it's finest.
What is torture.
What is a shield, impenetrable to all who would do you harm.
What is thin as paper.
What is solid as stone, iron in resolve.
What is delicate as porcelain.
What is safe.
What is a levee, preserving the safety of others.
What is graceful, full of hope.
What is cruel, full of deceit.
What is kind, generous breathing life into to all.
What is parasitic.
What is the man one strives to become.
What is a facade.
What is angelic.
What is ******.
What is the dream of a dreamer.
What is a lie.
What is real.
What is false.
What is a question,
Who is my reflection.
Which of these is my mask?

Sympathy from those around me
Mercy on the constant lateness
Irritation when I keep saying I’m fine
Lies spilling from my lips everyday
Easy company is only at her grave
Part three of a series called "The Little Words" that I'm writing right now.
This time they walked in line
Uncertain what they would find
Not a walk with army troops
Who march along in heavy boots
Not a walk with mortar shells
The road were many in battle fell.
This walk was the way to peace
Were all those wars would face defeat.
This walk it led to a hopeful sign
Leaving those horrors  far behind.
This time they walked in line
Looking ahead to better times.
This walk was a future crystal clear
One of joy and not one of fear
Traveling together at a steady pace
That feeling of love and not of hate.
This time they walked in line
One that will stand the test of time.
This walk it had no barriers
No enemy at the end waiting there.
This time they walked in line
That new horizon there to find.
Walking away from war torn lands heading too that new horizon
Were peace abounds .

For the first time in a while
I woke up with a smile
It was plastered on my face
Almost perfectly placed
Getting my morning routine done
Was for the first time, fun
And I left with that smile
Stuck upon my face

Walking down the street
Making rhythmic sounds with my feet
I finally felt like I belonged
Not a character in some sad song
I talked to people without a problem
Like my anxiety was gone
And I got on the bus with that smile
Stuck upon my face

Walking into school
Something that is normally a blur
Was for the first time exciting
The pull to learn enticing
I couldn't be any better
As I type out each letter
To this ode to a day
Without any dismay
And so I continued my day with that smile
Stuck upon my face
For the first time in a long time, I woke up not dreading the day. It was very strange to understand how I was feeling, but I realized it was happiness

Day to day, same old faces
Night to night, same old spaces
People moving as one
People thinking as one

A gram or two, doesn’t matter
They keep me alive and better
Better than most of you
No mind for themselves or anyone

In this town where the end is dead,
Thoughts are rather kept than said
It’s the reason no one escapes this town
But I’ll make a destiny of my own

One day I’ll walk away from all this
Go to a place where the sun never sets
Live there and never come back
Forget my ghosts and my past

I don’t need fame or money
No, what I want is to be happy
Live where smiles are free
Sleep where dreams are meant to be

Someday I’ll find that place
The place they call paradise
Maybe when I sleep tonight, I’ll find it
If I do, I know I’ll never wake up again

wavelengths rehearse their dance for me
a meek and assuming afternoon
no lover has lost their remorse
and no mistress was ever dethroned
absorbed by the power and blindly submitting
so sing to me, let it be me for today
and each day after this
can be swiped from our grasp
but, honey, I'm still so obsessed!
as ashes emerge from a raging hot storm
I inhale and am deliberately consumed
she's no witch, but you'll burn
she's no god, but you won't be absolved
the screech of your voice takes me ten levels deep
love, I fear I can still sketch your face from my brain
each indent and curve, it's permanently burned
into a chamber of connection
a connection never experienced
break the ice, break a woman
lay all your affections to rest.

approach me with caution
a deadly edge
dreaming yet I'm weary
waiting for the end
could you show me?
could you maybe just dethrone me?
goodness, I think my soul is overflowing...
never miss a call
don't delay, get the story straight
fighting our downfall
just to stay, feeling far away

Dear Poet,

Dissect me, tear me apart, take what you please and turn me to art. Poet, poet mind, poet soul. Write me like one of your poems old. My eyes green and my soul - a rainbow dull. Piece me together with words that flow. Break me apart to describe me as I grow. I want to see what others do. I want to read the thoughts of you. Poet, Dear Poet, write me please. What I ask is not a simple act; I know it won’t come with ease.

Sincerely,
Me
