hazael-fae
her veins filled with waves of love
she is here to give
to receive and to give back
to love the lessons of life
this Virgo knows the way to the light
though enlightened stargazing
her feet press to the earth
and there, with the grass twirling within her toes
shes home
graced with the presence of love
she grants herself forgiveness for all
for not only herself
but for all
her tears are filled with hurt that the world carries
she wants to help, give all she can
but Virgo women, powerless it seems
gives all she can
and even with no one saying anything of what she has given
with no thanks received
she still wakes with the ambition to give love,  and to give all that Virgo Women is, everyday

To the women who dismantled the world
with their bare hands
just to build it up again.

May we know them.
To the Eleanor Roosevelts,
to the Marilyn Monroes.
To our mothers
and our grandmothers

May we be them.
Women who speak with fire
and revel in the flame,
who shatter the glass ceiling
and dance around the broken shards.

May we raise them.
To our sisters
and our daughters.
To the women who came before me
and all of the girls who will come after.

Here’s to strong women.
for all my ladies out there :)

Life is like a storm
One thing to know about life is that it throws challenges your way
Overcoming these obstacles isn’t always easy
Some may be the hardest thing you face but
Keep dreaming
of better days
After the storm

Awake and alone
I have nothing but this silent night
The terrible thoughts in my head
I can’t win this fight
Events that are all my fault
Knowing I can’t change the past
This pain is unbearable
I’m suffering as the voices in my head try to
Sing me to sleep

i write "you"
like you are the lines
in my palm
and the blue in
my blood.

i write "you" like
you is me
and the air you breathe
is in my lungs.

i write "you" like
i have the stars of your eyes
in my heart
and your body is carved
to mine.

i write "you" like
we have met and
like i love you,

(i do).
i like you like i love you

The ghosts of old raindrops
mock and scold.
Their scorn writ large
on these dusty roads and in these dusty throats.
To tote the barge but not lift the bail
ain't no kind of protest.
Spit in the well and
hope the master draws up that bucket-full.
Wishes.
Still, the giver of life
serpentines through this valley
like the Euphrates did
in that one book, but
it does not matter
since the scythe swings
in such wide circles
this time of year.
We can bring in sheaves until dusk
then fish for men in the morning but
our souls are still corrupted.
Our hearts are rotten like old pears.
I'm so thirsty.

Friday
as reminder
of how cruel the time.
(Invariability)
Of how intractable the wind and weather.
(Inevitability)

I cry the cry of the reformed mean spirited;
the once-unholy-then-unholy-again;
the backslid.
It's been so long since I've sinned,
come short of the glory,
come at all (costs)
It would feel good to make a fist again.

Please render me in subtle shades
when you paint me into your masterpiece;
barely discernable from the canvas.
A ghost in achromatic acrylics.

People only ever want to ask me about
the poetry -
those verses about
busted up noses in outer space;
about the pros working
way down passed
the corner of Broad and Main;
about fistfights and hard, hard drinking.
But I built a flowerbed this weekend...
Twenty two tastefully irregular stone blocks
in a crescent moon shape,
filled with the blackest of soils.
The sweat of toil.
The digging.
The planting.
Exotic grasses. Asian maybe?
Purple and yellow flowers.
Zinnias or some **** thing.
All covered in a thick blanket of brown mulch.
It's a fine thing to have dirt on your hands
instead of blood.
No one ever asks me about flowerbeds.
Walking in the first snowfall
through a thick familiar wood
listening for winter's call
near where an old house once stood.

A cardinal splashes red nearby
as he flits about among the white.
Before long he'll likely fly
to a cedar tree to spend the night.

Within this world of falling snow
the only sound is snow flakes as they hit
and a desultory single crow.
Somehow the silence seems to fit.

I pause to let knee's ache subside
and inhale a breath of air
here where forest denizens reside.
I'd not want to be nowhere else

That first walk in winter....
Remember me when you feel all alone,
I'm always here for you, I'll never leave you on your own.
Remember me when your heart is broke in two,
I'll always be here to pick up the pieces and heal your heart for you.
Remember me when you feel depressed, stressed or angry,
I'm always going to be by your side through it all, please believe in me. Remember me when you're confused or lost,
Because I'm always here for you no matter what the cost.
Remember me when you're feeling ill in any way,
I'll always be here to nurse you back to health any day.
Remember me after I am gone,
And just for you, I'll be sure to ask God to leave Heaven's light on.
Remember me please, don't forget,
I'll always remember you, our friendship I'll never regret.
Remember me if you're in Heaven before me,
Maybe you can guide the light for me to see.
Remember me when you don't think you can ever love again,
Because I am here waiting to love you, but I can wait 'til then.
Remember me when you feel like nobody loves you,
Just so you know that I'll always be here, forever too.
