Like a thief, he came and took her “life”~
As though he thought he had a right.

A little girl so strong and bold~
Was laid to rest, her joy gone cold.

It only took one evil choice
to destroy her innocence and leave her void.

A void that filled so much of her
with satan’s lies and destructive words.

But one night as the child cried out in shame
for some reason to live ~ He called her name.

A God so faithful, kind, and true~
Reached out His love, and made her new.
                           ~~~~
A young teen girl who’d saved that right
for her husband on their wedding night.
Was robbed of something she’d vowed to treasure
for a young man’s evil, selfish pleasure.
A selfish act that changed her path~
Created in her such hate and wrath.
But one night as the girl searched again
for some reason to live~ He called her name.
A God so faithful, kind, and true~
Reached out His love, and made her new.
                              ~~~~
A battered woman, tired and weak
from empty promises he wouldn’t keep.

Stared in the mirror at empty eyes
that only saw his deceit and lies.

Her baby sleeping in the night~
Pills filled her hand to end her life.

But that night as the woman screamed in pain
for some reason to live~ He called her name.

A God so faithful, kind, and true~
Reached out His love~
And made her~

I hope you never reach
The day
Where you are lost for words
Because they're tangled up in
Agony.

I hope you never reach
The point
Where your innocence of
The world is
Robbed.

I hope you choose
Your friends and
Lovers wisely
So that you never have to
Discover what it feels like
To see those who you believed
Would take a bullet for you
Dance behind the
Trigger.
I am very fortunate that this has made the daily poems! I am completely new to this site (about a week or two in) and it is truly an honor to have my work recognized. Thank you guys for supporting!

Tim O'Brien had the right idea
about carrying people and ideas;
we all have experiences that live within us
like a stain on our grey matter.

I carry with me every insult hurled at me,
caught by my web of sensitivity;
I lift them onto my shoulders,
my back creaking as I trudge on.

My insecurities are shackles at my ankles,
the chains tangling themselves and chafing my legs;
my knees knock and pop and shake,
my back creaks and groans.

The ghosts and spirits of the self-departed
dance their ethereal ballet about my soul
and howl their eerie opera through the night,
begging for forgiveness and understanding.

The heaviness of the future rests
inside the caverns of my cranium,
latching on to my thoughts
and chipping at my hopes.

Past loves plague our emotions
and rest in the deepest corners of our hearts,
reminding us of who we once were
and asking us what could have been.

A cloud of sadness condenses in my body,
little drops of dejection slide down my lungs.
My chest constricts and grows heavy
and pointlessly hopes to see the sun.

Everyone together carries the weight of the world,
but I'm not sure what is heavier:
the mass of the planet,
or the things its people carry.

Are just going through the tough chapters of their tale.

It's incredibly trusting.
In a way, fearless.
Intuitive.

Sometimes to the point of being impulsive.

The test to humanity as a whole is not to take advantage of such an attribute.

Folks may be naive but stepping on them for it is arrogant, ignorant and selfish.

Perhaps the lesson to be learned when naivety is a factor is acknowledging that more is to be gained for a society as a whole when its members spread the wealth and teach one another with compassion and patience when some know more than others.
being an *** to someone because "it'll toughen them up for when the next guy tries to ***** with them" is a self perpetuating farce. Developed by the egos of self important goons.
