And they asked me
"Are you down to ****? Or  do you prefer friends with benefits?
Either way there would never be any emotions involved", they say
I said "no, I don’t want any of those things"
Their faces started to change
My guards are high up and they suddenly wanted the chase

But "seriously no", I reiterated
"I don’t want my body to be used in any of your fantasies
It’s not that I haven’t tried any of those things you are imagining right now
I have been there, I have done that
Far too many times than the acceptable number
But I am not ashamed, I am not proud either"

Some of them turned their backs on me due to their dismay
“You shouldn’t really be here” they say
But I am just looking for someone to talk to
This is something that they really cannot accept

I know that my credentials fill your heads with imagination
My photos burn your souls alive
And my words linger in your minds
I have you all trapped under my finger tips
You all want me, but I don’t want you
I am sorry, but not in that way

Because I have been there, I have done that
Far too many times than the acceptable number
But I am not ashamed, I am not proud either
Because I know my worth
And none of you deserves my
ON thrones from China to Peru
All sorts of kings have sat
That men and women of all sorts
proclaimed both good and great;
And what's the odds if such as these
For reason of the State
Should keep their lovers waiting,
Keep their lovers waiting?
Some boast of beggar-kings and kings
Of rascals black and white
That rule because a strong right arm
Puts all men in a fright,
And drunk or sober live at ease
Where none gainsay their right,
And keep their lovers waiting,
Keep their lovers waiting.
The Muse is mute when public men
Applaud a modern throne:
Those cheers that can be bought or sold,
That office fools have run,
That waxen seal, that signature.
For things like these what decent man
Would keep his lover waiting,
Keep his lover waiting?

Shake out your shining tresses, Love
Undress their dark contour as the pink stars rise
And drowse around the smoke-ringed moon,
Like roses in a whiskey glass.
Take time to dream a dream, my Love,
Tresses fallen across the curve of your face --
Sleep away the late summer moon,
Spooning the stars asleep in pink lace.

Lay down your weary bones, my dear,
Stretch out on vanilla feather-winged dreams
My whisky rose petal kisses blown into the night
Finding you on glittered opalescent moonbeams
Grab hold of pink-starred sweet slumber
As  silken tendrils puddle upon your chest
Tangled up in each other's lithe limbs
Our blissful hearts beat together in tender rest

you may not know me
face to face,
but you and I have connected
heart to heart through words.

Our lives are woven together by
the tapestry of words,
and into a living breathing poetry.

you and I are no longer strangers,
but fellow poets and sojourners
on this journey of creation.

I wish I could say I'm shocked,
but love isn't us
Did you enjoy her bed?
Because your drunken call
sayed it all
Dear you can do
better than that
You forget I have friends
in this town too, and tonight
I'll have treat as well
Sharing my bed with

I found a mend for a friend
amidst the soft dew
I hear bells in our shells
when our quarrels - they were few
I found art in our heart
near the sandy beach
I feel my spirit is much near it
when the sky we do reach
The sun has fire so much higher
when our hands are close
I feel more within my core
when our eyes had light the most
So let us stay in this pleasant way
As fiery as mars
Let us hold this glowing gold
As we dance amongst the stars

The things I want to show you
the things I'll show you will be grand
the places that you'll see,
come, take my hand

You'll lay your eyes upon them
your face will light up with glee
I can't wait to show you,
the things that you'll see

The sounds that you'll hear
both quiet and even loud
the places we'll both go
alone or in a crowd

Just follow by my footsteps
watch me as I go
come with me to places
and learn all you do not know

Follow by my shadow
stand with me in light
come take my hand
and we'll see this lovely sight

Oh, don't you understand?
The things that you'll see
take my hand
please do come with me

In castles we will dance
In palaces we will dine
life will be ours
if your hand would reach for mine

Look into my eyes
Tell me what you think
if you'd only come with me
In beauty we would sink

The people to whom we would speak
in blue oceans we would dive
all the places you would see
if you were only alive

STRAWBERRY  FIELDS

I  walked  in  the  strawberry  fields
with  you,  so  long,  so  long  ago

the  sun  was  shining  and  nature  was  smiling
and  our  two  hearts  fluttered  as  love  was  starting
to  grow
but  I  was  sixteen  and  you  were  fifteen
the  tender  buds  of  our  love  had  not  known
the  fragility  and  ephemerality  of  the  heart’s  affection
we  changed  as  the  seasons  and  time  had  swiftly  flown
now  I  am  forty-‐‑one  and  you  forty
and  the  strawberry  fields  are  derelict  and  no  longer  sown
none  can  fight  omnipotent  destiny
I  have  become  a  stoic,  happy  to  be  by  myself-‐‑-‐‑alone

FIRST LOVE

I buried my wild youthful dream
In the sand of a faraway shore
I promised myself
Never to return there any more.

Time had taken flight on relentless wings
I thought I was brave and strong
Still that dream returned to haunt
Like the endless echo of a melancholic song.

Once she said she loved me
Begged that I would not abandon her
‘  You are my heart’s content, my solace
Believe me--I will love you forever’.

How fragile and forgetful is love
Who knows its inconstancy?
Love that betrays murders the heart
‘ La Dame Sans Merci’.

Who knows the secrets of the heart?
Is love an illusion and fantasy?
Who knows the how and why
Of that which is life’s most profound mystery?

Explain it  if you may
You would need words to cover
The whole sky and the widest sea
It would be wise not to endeavour.

I am dying, dying now
And that distant shore speaks to me
You must return before your last sunset
Perhaps, perhaps, you will be set free.
